UFC TIME FUNCTIONS To enable: Click the TMR button on the UFC. Available functions: - Time-To-Target (TTT) - Time-On-Target (TOT) - Time Hack (for TTT only) - Command Speed and Time (CS/T) Read Only. - Stopwatch (with LAP and RESET). Definition: - Steerpoint: Selected waypoint, waypoint offset or designated target. - Time-To-Target (TTT) This function allows the pilot to set the expected time of transit towards the Steerpoint. The valid values range is from 1 second to 59.9 minutes (59 minutes 54 seconds). For values less than 10 minutes, the time is entered in minutes, seconds, i.e.: 4 minutes 12 seconds is entered as 4.12. The clock will start counting down upon clikcing on the ENT key. The Command Speed/Time will be calculated upon clikcing on the ENT key only after selecting HACK. Note: HACK can be selected before entering the TTT. If selected the clock will start counting UP from 0 until the TTT is entered, at which time it will start counting DOWN from the TTT value minus the HACK value. - Time-On-Target (TOT) This function allows the pilot to set the expected time of arrival at the Steerpoint position. The value entered is a clock time: houres, minutes, seconds. The time value enterede depends on the internal clock setting: REAL or ZULU (ZULU time is default). Valid time value are from 00h 00 minutes 00 seconds To 23h 59 minutes 59 seconds. The Command Speed/Time will be calculated upon clikcing on the ENT key. - Time Hack (for TTT only) The time hack option provides a reference for the calculation of TTT for data entered prior or after the selection of HACK. The time hcak option is selected y cueing the HACK legend on the ODU by clickingon the HACK option button. The HACK legend is only displayed when the TTT legend is displayed. If HACK is cued after entering a TTT. The countdown timer is reset to 0 and restarts from the TTT. If HACK is cued before entering a TTT. The timer starts counting up from 0 until a TTT value is entered. With the HACK cued and a TTT value, the system will calculate the Command Speed/Time for the designated Steerpoint. - Command Speed and Time (CS/T) Read Only. The CS/T option provides the pilot with command symbology for the airspeed requried to arrive at the selected Steerpoint at a certain time. The option is available after entering a TOT or a TTT (with HACK cued) to the selected Steerpoint. When cued, the TOT or TTT options are deselected and the UFC scratchpad will show the the command speed and time remaining. The value is read only and cannot be directly modified by the pilot. - CS/T Calulcation: COmmand Speed and Time are calculated as soon as a TOT or a TTT (with HACK cued) is entered. The system calculates the distance to the selected Steerpoint and then calculates the required airspeed to arrive at the entered TOT or TTT. Distance to the selected Steerpoint is calculated as follows: - With NO designated target, the distance will be Direct-To the current Steerpoint. If the steerpoint is a waypoint offset, the distance will be the sum of the distance to the waypoint plus the distance from the waypoint to the offset. - With a designated target, the distance will be Direct-To the target position. - With NSEQ Routing Selected: - Sequential Routing (TERM): The distance will be the sum of all the distance between the waypoints that comprises the route. If the designated steerpoint has an offset, the system will assume that the offset si the final destination and the distance from the steerpoint to the offset will be added. - Non-Sequential Routing (NSEQ): The distance will be the sum of all the distance between the waypoints that comprises the INGR route. If the designated steerpoint has an offset, the system will assume that the offset si the final destination and the distance from the steerpoint to the offset will be added. - CS/T Symbology: When CS/T is enabled, a lubber line and a caret will appear below the AIRSPEED box. The caret will move to the left or right of the box. If the caret is on the left side of the box the current airspeed is below the calculated command speed. Converserly, if the caret is on the right side of the box the current airspeed is higher than the calculated command speed. When the caret is centered on the lubber line, the current airspeed and the command airspeed are the same and the aircraft will arrive at the steerpoint at the selected time. The limit on each side of the box represents +/- 30 Knots difference between the calibrated airspeed and the command speed. - Stopwatch (with LAP and RESET). The stopwatch is independent of the TOT or TTT functions. The stopwatch is selected by cueign the STPW legend on the ODU by clicking on the option button. Clikcing again on the button after cueing will start/stop the stopwatch. When the stopwatch is running, a LAP option will be displayed. Selecting this option by clicking on its button will freeze the stopwatch display but not the stopwatch. Clicking again on the LAP option button will show the current stopwatch time. When the stopwatch is stopped the RSET (reset) option is available. CLicking on the option button will zeorise the stopwatch. - DIsplaying TIME values on the HUD. The following values can be displayed on the HUD: - Stopwatch, this will be shown as long as the stopwatch is running. - Command Time: When CS/T is enabled, this will show the time remaining to arrive at the steerpoing. Both values will override the clock time value on the HUD. The stopwatch will override the command time value. These values can be shown/removed by clicking on the UFC's ON/OFF button when the TIME options are available on the ODU.
