------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ G3's Eagle Pit version 2.2 readme 2011-09-16 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Updated for version v2.2 Fixed the orientation of the left and right RPM indicators. Increased the size of the buttons along the bottom, they were a bit horizontally anorexic. Some buttons now open menus full of other buttons with associated functions that then close automatically. Changed the version label to reflect the current Eagle Pit release v2.2 The latest "Eagle Pit" Helios profile is now up to v2.2.0.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next on the to do list: need to go thru all the labelling and arrange the layers in an slightly more orderly fashion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How to update to the latest version of the "Eagle Pit" If you have an earlier version already set up. All you need to do is: copy the two profile files into your helios profiles folder, open with the editor, reset monitor and save then select the new profile in the control centre and you're done. Enjoy, G3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eagle Pit version 2.1 readme 09-09-2011 (intial release and setup guide) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Built with Helios v1.1.146 Designed on a resolution of 1280x1024 The Eagle Pit is a Helios profile designed for the F-15c Eagle, includes 100+ buttons, with a mix of A-10c and F-16 gauges and 4x Helios MFD's frames configured to control the leavu2 MFD displays. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: The information provided here reguarding helios and Leavu is not to be considered or taken as gospel. With any luck it will however serve as a fairly helpful reference for those less familiar. Note: It's never a bad idea to back up the original game files prior to making any changes. If you are reading this then the warranty is already over, use at your own risk, enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow me: This guide uses x:\ as an example install location, individual results may vary :) Any time you see: "copy the:" refers to the files found in this package. "place the:" refers to the files you will also need to download: Helios and Leavu Leavu is not required in order to use the helios profile but they do make a lovely couple. For more advanced users scroll down to the section titled "LeavuEri_2.1 configuration:" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monitor setup: 1. you must first configure your monitors in windows to their desired positions and extend the desktop to the second monitor. 2. once you can move you mouse across all your screens you should be good to go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Helios install: download Helios v1.1.146 1. install helios to x:\Helios and open the control centre for the first time then, have a look and close it. 2. you should now have a helios/profiles folder in your documents folder (eg: users/yourname/My Documents/helios) 3. copy the: 2x files inside the "eagle pit profile v2.1" folder to your users/yourname/My Documents/helios/profiles folder 4. from your x:\helios folder create a desktop shortcut for both the "Helios Profile Editor" and the "Helios Control Centre". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LeavuEri_2.1 install: download leavuEri_2.1 1. place the LeavuEri2.1/Leavu Client/Leavu folder into your x:\Leavu 2. place the: LeavuEri2.1/Fc2 Exports/config folder into your x:\Fc2\ folder and overwrite any existing files. 3. place the: 6x dll files from LeavuEri_2.1/Leavu Client/dll folder into your appropriate windows folder. (for Win7 the folder is called x:\windows\sysWOW64, for winXP the folder is called x:\windows\system32) 4. copy the: 4x files from the eagle pit Leavu2 keybinds/keyBindings folder to your x:\Leavu\KeyBindings folder 5. install (as admin) "jre 6u21 x86" if you don't already have it installed (even 64bit os currently needs the x86 version) 6. create yourself a desktop shortcut to your x:\Leavu\LEAVU2.jar file (for some reason you cannot pin this file to taskbar so a shortcut will be fine) 7. now test to see if you can start leavu from your shortcut, if yes then good, if not then go back three spaces and miss a turn. 8. when you get it all going i recommend editing the shortcut and adding the -preset switch to auto load your preset file. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Helios profile editor: 1. start the helios profile editor and up the top left click profile, select "add interface" and then choose "Fc2" from the list 2. click on "setup Flaming Cliffs" and helios will automatically edit some lua files to let helios talk to FC2 (adding the interace is a critical step when making new profiles from scratch and initial install of helios) 3. still in the profile editor open the supplied profile called "eagle pit v2.x" 4. in the same pull down list top left you will see an option to "reset monitors" which you should now click on (if all went well the monitor config up the top left should now look just like your monitor layout in windows) 5. now in the same list select "save as" and give the new profile a name like "my eagle pit" (your new profile "my eagle pit" should now be setup to match your monitor layout) You can always copy and paste from one profile to another by having two profile editors open at one time, can be very handy. The thing to remember is you need to add the interface to the new profile before hand pasting to keep the bindings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Helios Control Centre: 1. start the helios control centre from your desktop shortcut 2. now use the arrow keys to scroll thru your profiles until you find the one you resaved called "my eagle pit" 3. click start and it should now display the helios profile on your extra monitor. 4. you can then flick the power switch on the Helios control centre to "minimise", better still set this in the prefs to happen automatically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LeavuEri2.1 configuration: once you have a helios profile up and running you then need to configure leavu2 to display the radar etc inside the 4 helios mfd frames and also bind the supplied keybindings each leavu mfd so that the helios mfd frames control the leavu2 mfd's :) 1. start leavu with your desktop shortcut 2. select instruments, in the "available" list click "MFD", under that click "No Frame" 3. now move and resize the positioner window over to your top-left helios mfd frame and click "Add" (take your time to just hide the outer white edge of the leavu positioner window under the helios mfd frame) 4. repeat this process again for the top-right, then bottom-left then finally bottom-right mfd's. (this order is very important for the next step of binding the keys to the correct mfd's) 5. now back to the Leavu "instruments" window, and in the active list on the right you should see 4x MFD 6. click the top MFD in the "active" list and then click "Bind Keys" and from the list select "frame keys 1" then click load 7. repeat this process for all for MFD in the active list. MFD = keybinds (for easy reference when binding the leavu mfd's) top-left = frame keys 1 top-right = frame keys 2 bot-left = frame keys 3 bot-right = frame keys 4 then close the "key bindings" window and the "Instruments" window. 8. go back to the main leavu2 window, select "presets" and save, then close the leavu "presets" window. (note: it will save it as a long numeric filename, i strongly suggest renaming the file to something like "my leavu presets") 9. your new "my leavu presets" file is saved in your x:\leavu\Presets folder, go there to rename it as above. 10. open this file with wordpad and edit the following line: sim_autoconnect = "false" change it to sim_autoconnect = "true" and save it (this tells your preset file to automatically attempt to connect with Fc2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IMPORTANT FINAL INSTALL STEP: Making them all play nicely together (Helios + Leavu2 + FC2) to make both apps run with FC2 you need to use the supplied combined export.lua file 1. copy the: combined export lua/export.lua file to your x:\Fc2\Config\Export folder and overwrite when asked This combined export.lua already has the A-10c's AOA fix for FC2 included. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Known Issues: The HSI is currently lacking some of it's functionality and hopefully still a wip. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Firing up the eagle pit: 1. Start Leavu2 with your desktop shortcut. (if you do the -preset switch then just double click the leavu2.jar and go to step 4.) 2. go "presets" and select your "my leavu presets" file and click load 3. close the preset window but "only minimise" the main leavu2 window. 4. Start the helios control panel with your desktop shortcut. 5. select you profile "my eagle pit" and then click "start". (or whatever you saved it as when you reset the monitors in the profile editor) 6. now to minimise the "helios control centre" flick the PWR switch (setting it to "hide on profile start" is the best way i find) 7. start your joystick software 8. fire up the trackir software 9. fire up FC2 and enjoy the eagle pit v2.1 10. final step is to click the little "SETUP LEAVU" button on the ADI (it configures the correct leavu displays for each MFD"s, and was one ofmy favourite moments in the build process was watching this happen for the first time :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ End Result: If all went well you should now have the eagle pit v2.1 up and running, hope you like it :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thankyou: BIG thanks to ED, Gadroc and Yoda for putting together such amazing software. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Updates: Keep an eye out for updated helios profiles as the "eagle pit" is still constantly evolving, with several planned improvements for the near future :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Profile Creator: G3 09-09-2011 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
