known SFM Performance and Inaccuracies
Bowie replied to Curly's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
To that, have added: 263 M_empty = 3991 , -- [MiG-17] (+238 kg) -- with pilot and nose load, kg -- 3753 , -- with pilot and nose load, kg , 264 M_nominal = 5340 , -- [MiG-17] (+296 kg) -- kg -- 5044 , -- kg To reflect the A/C as a MiG-17, as is being utilized. Superman - loses his cape. Thanks Curly. Bowie -
broda, Couple of ideas... Turn Anisotropic to none (you are at x16 currently). Turn sharpening to zero. Both of these cause shimmering. I have run MSAA x2 for years and that's ALL - nothing else. I am, however, going to give AhSoul's idea a try. Switching to Quad Views sounds promising.

So far the 3rd party creators have a really high retention rate around here. Some people cant handle the workload, others see $$$ in the eyes while they hold a shovel in one hand and a knife in the other. The only way to not get screwed is to wait until products come out of early access and that could take the better part of a decade to do so. Some of these aircraft are far more in depth that it closely resembles GTA6 in some regards.

Interesting Workaround: Started w/ Curly's "MIG-15bis Accurate SFM Mod" (a big thanks) And then added: 263 M_empty = 3991 , -- [MiG-17] (+238 kg) -- with pilot and nose load, kg -- 3753 , -- with pilot and nose load, kg , 264 M_nominal = 5340 , -- [MiG-17] (+296 kg) -- kg -- 5044 , -- kg To reflect the A/C as a MiG-17, as is being utilized. Superman - loses his cape. At the lower Vet/Rookie/Trained/Rookie skill set, their performance is similar to that of the A-4E/F-5E, as wing-loadings and T/W ratios' would predict. So, with parity, they are now more vulnerable to the 1960's missile technology, AIM-9B. Will be upping the skill set back to 1/5/3. Bowie

Yes, there will be a lot to unlearn and relearn. And knowing what is actually correct can be difficult to ascertain. On certain points, manuals can seem to contradict each other. There can even be contradictions within same manual. Most of them seem not to have been professionally written. Anyway, I found the above about landing interesting because, if you take the info and diagrams provided in you post earlier yesterday along with the subsequent text you posted later that day, it would seem that the large circle and the small circle should work just as they do in the sim. It’ll be interesting to see what turns up.

I own M2000C, Harrier and F-15E: I will do the same cursing Zambrano and his gang all the times. Well, the decision is up to you, but not all third parties are that unreliable.

The Corsair is a mod that really demands the pilot be on top of the rudder. As I tried to say in my initial post, it’s really tough with a twist stick. If you aren’t trimmed perfect you have to fly with your wrist twisted at some angle which really makes it hard to work the elevator and ailerons with precision and the VKB stick at least doesn’t have the ability to change the springs on the that axis so it’s very stiff. I recognize though that the Corsair demands the pilot work the rudder and that just adding a autorudder might neuter the mod or give an unfair advantage. Therefore I think it might be possible to have a button-style control for coordinated flight rather than an axis. Perhaps when you go to do a left turn you hit the left turn rudder button and then you get a coordinated turn to the left. A right turn rudder button would do the same to the right This would make it so coordinated flight was a choice at any given time. The intent is to still preserve the plane’s characteristics and consequences for slamming power when on final and slow, demanding the pilot respect the R2800… but making it a little more fun in the sky for us broken humans. Thanks for listening, John Added a little more

I’ve noticed that it’s really hard to do slips and skids with autorudder enabled. I use that feature because I’m disabled and I can’t use my legs. I have a twist stick though and so I routinely use slips to drop speed for landing. It seems like the airplane really fights me and overrides my control inputs back to coordinates flight. 1. Would it be possible for the developers to push a patch so that anytime the user gives rudder input, the autorudder option is completely disabled? 2. The other change I’d love to have is an option that is in between autorudder and no autorudder. Basically a button where if I’m turning left I would press the left button and it would give me a coordinates turn to the left. There would be another one to the right. Basically it would force the user to work to fly coordinated but not with an axis control. This would make it so coordinated flight was a choice at any given time. Not as important as my first change request above, but I think it would be a good addition. Thanks, I really love the Spitfire. I think it’s the best WW2 mod. - John

So has there been resolution yet? I have ceased hosting our DCS server in the meantime because of these forced exits. @BIGNEWY Could you guys please just remove the forced stop? A short connection problem between a DCS server and your auth servers while the server is running should NOT be grounds for quitting the game. And honestly, the same should be true for regular game clients too. Do that check on mission start, and then stop worrying about it. If you're worried about underlicensing, just have the client send a ping every now and then to keep a session going, and if no ping is received have the session time out. Yes theoretically someone could start a game, then block comms with the auth server to allow someone else to start a game, but is this really such a likely scenario, and do you really think people will go to such lengths each and every time they want to start playing with multiple people using the same license? If you really must do this, do it JUST for the clients, not dedicated servers, and provide multiple fallback auth server IPs in different locations so this becomes more reliable.

This is the current download link: https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=kZnSSnZ0Qsvw5tKgvzON5OYcKDWMJJrL7yX I'd like to use this opportunity to give my deepest thanks to its developers, I use their Mod on a lot of my missions and it is amazing how they have managed to keep it working over almost 8 years.

It’s fair to say one has to choose between buying EA and enduring a long development time, but it’s difficult to argue one has to buy EA modules in order to play DCS given the excellent selection of non-EA (and imminently so) modules available. Apologies to all for the loss of context due to quotes of quotes not coming through.

DML - Mission Creation Toolbox [no Lua required]
cfrag replied to cfrag's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
It would be near trivial to write a script for that. And it would be near-trivial for a player to designate any point and have arty pound it, which is why I so far did not implement it, it’s simply too easy (for an approximation, install theDebugger in a mission, and use the boom command. That would be very similar). And if we can hash out a good, fun way how this feature could work, I’m happy to create a script for that… -

I noticed this bug in the Hunters Over the Yalu Campaign Mission 11. The Mig-15 AI is set to ace level and randomly crashes itself into the ground at the beginning of the mission when the player flight is taking off. The chance of the AI crashing itself is random as reflying the mission does not always result in the AI crashing. It seems to happen roughly 20 - 30% of the time. Track file and YouTube video of the bug attached. Recorded on DCS 2.9.17.12034. caseyjonesdead.rar

I'm afraid you've misunderstood me here I would prefer the quality of the Lightning to be adjusted according to the quality of the upcoming Sniper Pod (i.e. corrected downwards, so to speak). The above argument doesn't really count in my eyes if you look at the LANTIRN Pod and its image quality, for example (yes, I know that's Heatblur's thing). But be that as it may, I don't really have any influence on it. -

I would have to trust that they did their research and made it as close as they could to what they know to be accurate. If its not or you want a sort of easy or cheat mode that is best taken up with them as they control their project.
