investigating We need to talk about Force Feedback and the Mossie...
bertOC replied to DD_Fenrir's topic in Bugs and Problems
It's flyable with this setting for me, not ideal but good enough. Would be awesome to see this problem getting adressed. -
I mainly use the F16 and F18 modules and would like to know besides the instant buttons on the main menu. Are there better ways to go about getting into the game quickly? I'm a very casual player and don't care much about flying by the book. I just want to load up, take off and get straight into shooting/bombing enemy planes, tanks, boats, etc. I don't like using the quick instant presets and would like to be able to customize certain aspects before I start. Such as setting the time, weather, location, types of enemies, etc. I would like to use it for training purposes. Such as the AI enemies skill level is very dumbed down as it to not make it too difficult for a beginner and have a team of AI pilots backing me up. Is this possible? I want plenty of non-stop action happening. I don't understand a lot of the military lingo. What are all these mission types such as CAS, CAP, etc mean? I just want to go in and blow up and shoot down every enemy I see.

Yep. A 10W powered hub, it's a 7 port one, I only have three things plugged into it, the hotas being two of them. It still happens.

Orion 2 F18 base/stick disconnects randomly!
PluckyUnderdog replied to Evocati443's topic in Winwing
Well some of the HID controllers have the option to 'allow the computer to turn it off to save power' greyed out, but it's unticked, and the option is manually unticked on every one I can alter, and also all of the USB options. The issue happened again this evening, the stick disconnected. -
Ohhh... wie ist das sooooon!

Since I am now relatively happy with where this is at (v1.0.0 being released this Saturday) I thought I would post so more folk can get access to the DCS World Dedicated server without having to pay for more expensive windows VPS hosts. tl;dr? Q: What does this Docker image do? A: It lets you run the DCS Dedicated server on Linux (in a Docker container) with web based access to a GUI running the xfce desktop environment complete with auto installation (including chosen map modules), auto startup and auto updates. This container can be found at https://github.com/Aterfax/DCS-World-Dedicated-Server-Docker , example Docker Compose files are provided with instructions on usage in the README. If people have requests, bug reports etc... please let me know on the GitHub pages as an issue or in a discussion. I'll do my best to try to keep things working but please remember maintaining this for free is not my day job. The installation process (subject to the user setting the correct options) looks like this: At present the DCS Dedicated server docker seems to work well (though I have not done any performance comparisons with native Windows execution) and I should eventually be releasing an update that allows people to use it with DCSServerbot - https://github.com/Special-K-s-Flightsim-Bots/DCSServerBot This server docker is probably also well complimented by some other docker containers I produce: The Sneaker WebGCI docker I also maintain (much credit to the original code developers) which provides a web accessible GCI style live display of a DCS Server - https://github.com/Aterfax/sneaker The Sneaklardooon docker (which wraps Sneaker with Lardoon and Jambon to also provide a web accessible Tacview recording repository also with much credit to the original code developers.) https://github.com/Aterfax/docker-Sneaklardooon If a mod / ED Staff member fancied pinning this post in the "Multiplayer Server Administration" forum section I'd be much obliged.

I've check the DCS manual 2020, p163-4. I know I can stop listening for the response with X: STOP WAIT USER RESPONSE - but what if I don't need to? Can I simply use X: START WAIT USER RESPONSE repeatedly with the same flag safely without worrying about some stack or other resource taken? (Of course X: STOP WAIT USER RESPONSE is undeniably useful when you want to "free" the Space key and let the user do whatever they want with it.) First I assumed that each X: START WAIT USER RESPONSE simply replaces the previous one - but one can actually add two waits for two different flags! After the time, I pressed space and via F10 other action printed the flags - both were 1! That made me thinking, what if I just call STOP WAIT... once? If I waited 10 secs and then pressed Space, no flags turned 1, so both START WAIT... were effectively disabled. Another question, does it set the flag ON just once, or - if not "STOPped..." can it do that repeatedly? Long story short, yes, it only works once. If I press Space, both flags go ON and if something (e.g. timer) resets them, the next Space does nothing. This seems to indicate reasonably safe action - although the option to use it multiple times to eventually set multiple flags really surprised me. Please, let me know if I missed something about this action!

Draconus, I've been on the deck at night and seen it from behind the boat. Both of those pictures are open-shutter for a few seconds. Hence the moon looks like the sun. It's dark, and i promise the island isn't illuminated. I can't provide a picture of something at night that is that dark. When you take into account all the "ziplip " ops to conceal the carrier... an illuminated tower doesn't make much sense. Heck, they made us turn off our nav lights when on deck for a reason.

it sure does not look good at all

I have checked the mission editor and the radio frequency for Uzi in the proper campaign for mission TAC14 SEAD Tasking is set to 127.5, while in the practice campaign it's set to 124. Both briefings state 124. Can i safely correct this or will Maple Flag do it? Don't want to break anything.

Which Version Is Which (And Flyable) For Kneeboards/Skins
Ramsay replied to DragonSoulkin's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
@DragonSoulkin Currently there are 3 Gazelle versions that are flyable by the player • SA342M • SA342L • SA342Minigun The 4th (AI only) version - SA342Mistral is kept for backwards compatibility with older missions that used the old Mistral version as an AI opponent. (Players can now load Mistrals on the L and there is no longer the need for a separate version ). Here is an example of the Gazelle's kneeboard folder names that are required to have custom pages in all 3 player flyable versions. -

how does DCS look so awesome most of the time but then fog conditions give you this, which looks like total hell?

reported MT freezes even in main menu
slughead replied to misa想变猫猫娘's topic in Multi-Threading Bug Reports (Temp)
I have tried to test it. I updated my BIOS, which supports DTT. I installed the DTT drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. I installed the Intel Application Optimiser, but the latter says "failed to connect." Others are seeing the same. To say it fixes this, I would not be so sure, as the game title has to be one of those supported/listed in the app. As far as I have seen online, there are only two supported games, and DCS isn't one of them. I have yet to run DCS to see if what has been installed has helped. -
I've found a screen setting with the "anti-aliasing" option that gives a more or less correct result. I'll try to push the settings a bit further. What I can't understand is why, before a DCS upgrade, all the settings are fine and then, after the upgrade, you have to adjust everything again. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate!

Constant Crashing on PC Used for Editing
Derbroomaster replied to Derbroomaster's topic in Game Crash
No, this is a new map created from another one, just adjusting time of day and unit composition, etc.
