  1. 1st of all, thanks for the support! really appreciate it! 2nd, it has nothing to do with hoggit´s post, BUT it really made me wonder and started looking around, and behold! yes there was badly criticism over the video quality on some other places. To be honest (and that´s the purpose of that FB post) i wanted to make clear that Work in Progress is exactly that, i´m not trying to sell it, i´m showing how we are doing it, for all of you could see how far we are into it, and this comes from my early CFS2 days. We are not going to stop showing all different updates as we go, i wanted to put that statement in the open, that´s how we roll. I wanted to make clear, that no matter the bitching, crying or complaining, this is how we do things, and we´ll keep doing it as far as we can. Once again, thanks for the support

  3. I finally spend some time to create a decent corrected specular map texture. I also corrected specular map for the exhaust nozzle, who was also pretty strange. Enjoy for who like it, download here :)

  4. Hey guys, I just stumbled about an incident that happened back in 1991 when a F/A-18 was shot down by a Mig-25 during the first night of Operation Desert Storm. Was or is the Mig-25 really such an agile and dangeroues Opponent to the F-18, or has it just been luck to the Foxbat Pilot that he was able to shot down a Multirole fighter and thus killed an experienced Pilot? This particular incident has already been discussed here on the board, but I dont want to resurrect an 7 years old thread. regards Memphis

Hey gang, So as we Rift users know, for a Steam VR only game , Oculus Home will also launch automatically when putting the headset on and then we launch the game with Steam VR, resulting in having the overhead of both Oculus Home and Steam VR running. There is a way to prevent Oculus Home from running for when we choose to run our Steam VR games. Credit to this thread over on the Oculus Forums, where it has been tried and tested. https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/53317/how-to-prevent-home-from-starting-when-playing-steam-games Basically just set the OculusClient.exe to " Run as Administrator". Right click the OculusClient.exe, choose properties, and put a checkmark in the " run this program as administrator" box and apply. I did a quick check, and now putting on the headset the Oculus Home Client does not start automatically. Launch a Steam VR game and only Steam VR starts and runs. Have not had a chance to do any real comparisons on any possible performance difference without having Oculus Home running, but I would have to think with it being a little leaner without it running it certainly can not hurt and reduces some overhead. When Oculus Home is needed, just launch Oculus Home manually and click yes when getting the prompt to run as administrator. Now us Rift users we can run a Steam VR only game without having the extra layer of Oculus Home running in the background.

  8. Mi associo a Khamul, condivisibile o meno è comunque un punto di vista interessante. Sempre un po' lungo rispetto ai miei canoni, ma almeno si discute di qualcosa. Per gli altri ricordo che le critiche sono moderate. Evitate di menarla agli utenti, se qualcosa non torna segnalatelo ai moderatori.

  9. Actually this is not an issue, this is what should happen. IRL when asked what they are missing in a Hog, most of the pilots would say"parking brake". They even developed a technique to keep the plane stationary using pedals that wouldn't strain their legs too much.   10. Продолжение воспоминаний и поиски утраченного счастья Мне лично интересно, куда делась артустановка "Берег", что была в ГС 2. Помнится, у меня было много миссий по их уничтожению. А ещё раньше, во "Фланкере", был СВП "Джейран". Тоже исчез и сколько не искал моды с ним, найти не мог. Вот чтобы восстановить. А так нечего жалеть о прошедшем. Как сказал великих грек: "Всё течёт, всё изменяется." Почти вчетверо только скорость процессора выросла. Я смотрю на скриншоты от старых игр и удивляюсь, как они мне могли нравиться.

  11. I leave it here, this is not really a bug, but, this a kind of bug... The Specular map for Mirage 2000 is wrongly created. This is like this since the beginning, but with the new deferred shading engine, this become very obvious. In fact, the current specular map for the mirage is a kind of "inverted" one: Some parts that should reflect and specular are rough, while some parts that should be rough are full of specular and reflection. I just made a quick corrected specular map to test, and to show you what i mean: As you can see, on left (original specular map), the the only parts that reflect and specular are the parts where the paint is dirty and dusty. In opposition, where the paint is clear, there is no specular nor reflection. On the right side, this is the specular map i made in few minutes. Unfortunately, i don't have a good PSD template to create a correct specular map, so, i can't help you more :D

  14. Делал для себя, но получилось достойно - поэтому выкладываю на обозрение (обновление от сентября 18 года). Доработано до версии DCS World 2.5... 1. Сделал перевод подсказок кабины и настроек управления, руководствуясь инструкциями - лётчикам самолета МиГ-21УМ (МиГ-21УС) и приборного оборудования кабины, так как машинный перевод настроек управления (что для русских сделали) никуда не годится. Некоторые названия (4-5 штук) заблокированы и не меняются на мой перевод. Либо не даёт/перекрывает сам DCS, либо баг модуля МиГ-21бис. Примечание: содержимое архива LC_MESSAGES.rar извлечь/копировать в папку игры DCSWorld в директорию “DCSWorld\CoreMods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\l10n\ru\” - согласиться с заменой папки "LC_MESSAGES" с файлами. ============================================== В файл "messages.po" добавлены следующие названия с переводом для русского языка: ASP-PFD Gunsight - Прицел АСП-ПФД ARC-10 Radio Compass - Радиокомпас АРК-10 Control system - Система управления R-832M UHF Radio Control Panel - Радиостанция Р-832М R-832M Volume - Регулятор громкости Р-832М Radio Volume Knob - Регулятор громкости Р-832М "Эвкалипт" Weapon Control Panel - Пульт СУО RSBN-5S Control Panel - Пульт РСБН-5С ============================================== 2. Также отредактировал файлы input-а для клавиатурных команд и джойстиков/устройств. Список исправлений и изменений МиГ-21бис: Настройки управления отсортированы по категориям и приведены к единому стандарту DCS. В файлах "default.lua" клавиатуры и устройств удалены по 2-3 дубликата команд, чтобы не вызывали конфликта в управлении. Исправлены некоторые ошибки в написаниях команд. Хатка/кнопки джойстика, назначенные на РН (педали) - теперь работают. Хатки/кнопки джойстиков назначаются и работают на всех командах управления самолётом, его оборудовании и прицеле в том числе. Кнопка джойстика "JOY BTN2" автоматически распознаётся на команде "Гашетка подвесного оружия" при 1-ом обнаружении игрой устройств (была ошибка в написании в файле default.lua). Были перепутаны команды "Кнопка "РАДИО", вкл./выкл." и "Радиостанция Р-832М "Эвкалипт", вкл./выкл." (на игру не влияло - но всё же). Ось "JOY_RZ" автоматически распознаётся на педалях/твисте джойстика при 1-ом обнаружении игрой устройств. Назначена комбинация "RAlt+Space" на команду "Гашетка подвесного оружия". Назначена комбинация "LAlt+Space" на кнопку отстрела ДО/ЛТЦ с пульта САП СПС-141"Сирень". Назначена комбинация "LShift+R" и создана команда "Перезапустить миссию" в категории "Отладка". Назначена комбинация "LAlt+' " на команду "Окно перевооружения и дозаправки", как во всех модулях DCS. Назначена комбинация "LCtrl+1" на команду "Пилоны и подвески, следующий сектор". Назначена комбинация "LCtrl+2" на команду "Пилоны и подвески, предыдущий сектор". Поменяны комбинации у команд "Фонарь кабины, герметизация, открыть/закрыть" на "LAlt+LShift+C" и "Кликабельная кабина вкл/выкл" на "LAlt+C" (приведены к единому стандарту). Примечание: содержимое архива MiG-21.rar извлечь/копировать в папку игры в директорию “DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Input\” - согласиться с заменой папки "MiG-21" с файлами. 3. Папку "mouse" удалить. В ней находятся команды осей обзора, которые дублируют уже имеющиеся по умолчанию оси обзора в DCS World, + в ней также находятся 4 команды осей для управления самолётом мышью, которые не работают. Ценность этой папки нулевая в версии DCS World 2.5... . В целом, управление не конфликтует с управлением в DCS World и летать стало плавнее, исправлены ошибки в файлах input,- МиГ-21бис теперь не вызывает фризов и подтормаживаний при полётах в оффлайне и на серверах. И FPS в кабине МиГ-21бис такой же как и в кабинах остальных модулей. MiG-21.rar

  17. Нет, не ожидаю. Но и платить нвперед за кота в мешке также не вижу смысла. Поэтому, для меня нет вопросов относительно "самой разумности". Больше никаких авансов. Только по факту и только после большинства позитивных отзывов. Это не предмет первой необходимости и жизнь без него не остановится. Лучшее всегда было врагом хорошего.

  18. Рег файл не помог. Попробовал деактивировать модуль в ручную через сайт - ошибка. Удалил из реестра все, что содержало MiG-21 в названии ключа - полегчало. Активировал заново и как итог -1 активация. В быструю миссию пустило, частичная победа :) Железо системника не менялось. Из периферии - РУД помер (что изменилось с предыдущего запуска, помимо 2.1 патча), по идее влиять ни на что не должно. Даже после починки лишняя иконка продолжает висеть. Спасибо за информацию!

  19. DCS has no place being an "arcade" style game like War Thunder. DCS prides itself in being a tight-knit community of high fidelity simulator pilots that I can only compare to a fraternity, rather than being a pool of bumbling morons [excuse the potentially harsh words] like War Thunder. I've never had a bad interaction with a fellow DCS pilot. In stark contrast, go play War Thunder for 10 minutes and read aloud every chat message you see. I can see why ED would want to expand into a more arcade market to generate capital, but it would tear my heart in half to see this happen.

It certainly is a game, but a damned good one, if it was running on a full motion rig, with some guy controlling things so you couldn't have "fun" and your hours were really restricted, and limited in scope, then it would be a real simulator and no one would a: be able to afford it, or B: want to use it. I work for a corporation that makes "real" Flight Simulators (amongst other things).... and no one there knows anything about "games" simulations like DCS. Scary isn't it? I keep trying to show them how much things have progressed in the last 20 years, & tend to have Youtube vids of DCS & BMS playing on my web PC at work, and try to bend anyones ear who wanders past to tell them that this is how our "real" sim should look. We don't even use specularity maps FGS! ;)

  22. Feels more like a full on simulation to me, what with my Rift, TM Warthog and JetSeat. Trying to simulate something just for fun is a bit different from playing a game, imo. It's all to do with your approach. DCS on a monitor, using mouse and KB, with the TV on in the background, in a well lite room, while chatting to the wife, yeah that's gaming.

  23. IIRC, the story is written in the book "F-15c Eagle vs MiG-23/25: Iraq 1991 (Duel)" by Doug Dildy, where the iraqi MiG-25 pilot described the case. The Hornet was in a large strike package and wasn't warned by AWACS. I don't remember, if there was any word about system failures. Interesting is, that the remains of the pilot were found in the next war against Iraq in 2003, somewhere in the desert.

  24. Well it's a niche in a niche, as they say. We do have a pretty cool community here, I think the German market is relatively important for ED, seeing as we have several translators working hard to provide a localized version. I think German was also one of the first localizations outside of English and Russian. Even so, I know of less than 20 DCS pilots in my town of Hanover (~ 500,000). There are probably more than that, but DCS remains a niche product. And I'm not sure if ED should actually try to make it more appealing to others. I'm not willing to put up with game flight mode or game avionics in order to help newcomers who don't want to invest dozens of hours just to be able to take off and land. DCS isn't a classic game, there's no progression, no achievements, no unlocking of new weapons -- it's a sandbox. And I love it for this. But it also means that in order to appeal to gamers, DCS itself would need to change in a way I'd probably consider bad. So, as long as our community gets ED and the 3rd parties funded, I'm not complaining about belonging to a small community. ;)

  25. Cthulhu's Cheezy Missions All missions are SP, runway start, ground attack variety for Normandy with Asset Pack. P-51 Convoy Strike Bayeux Bombardment To Be Arnoult To Be FW-190 Supply Route Strike Fuhrers Fury Black And Beuzeville First 4 were updated with scenery damage, route tweaks, and switched out Tigers for better balance. New missions include proximity triggers and win conditions. AA will be added when available. Enjoy!
