  6. Version 2.5.3 - 20250717 - update Summertime... and the living is definitely not easy for a Northerner living in (what feels like) the tropcis, so thanks for nothing, Gershwin! And, poor me, I had to upgrade my main PC and now am terrorized by ample performance and quick responses, unheard of for years. Even DCS feels snappier - occasionally. Yeah, I'm really suffering here. I'm looking at some tangential ideas that I've long since wanted to bring to DML, but in the past weeks I've spent a lot of time playing my very own "Expansion", and therefore had to tweak it here and there, which in turn required a number of tweaks to DML. All these changes are in this release, and I'm now turning again to one of my more peripheral DML pet projects (almost entirely eye candy) that I maybe can bring to DCS soon. Working on more substantial DML enhancements (e.g. persistence, warehouse) currently is out of question to me, as DCS is currently notwhere near what I need it to be. All changes Manual Documentation - reconMode updates for static objects - some spelling corrections Quick Ref - updates to reconMode Demos ADF and NDB fun - updated to current version reconMode reloaded - updated to current version Modules - cfxZones 4.5.4 new allObjectsInZone() - cloneZone 2.8.0 better integration with reconMode - csarManager 4.5.4 reduced verbosity - NDB 1.3.1 - improved starting guard - improved on? off? reading - reconMode 2.5.1 - reconMode now can report static objects as well - twn 1.0.3 - added compatibility with marianas ww II Enjoy, -ch

  8. My question is wether it can really be true that the F4U was so unstable in yaw and pitch? Reading pilot descriptions it does mention light controls, but nowhere anything about directional instability in yaw or that its twitchy in pitch. Infact once cleaned up and in the air, it was supposed to be really easy to fly. So yeah, strikes me as very odd that the FM of this plane is so unruly in the air. I know you can use curves to dampen the sensitivity in pitch, but it just doesn't feel very convincing even after that. On a final note, this is ofcourse early access, so things are bound to change. In other words, Im expecting things will ofcourse improve with time.

  11. Actually, I'm not really looking for a solution or help here.I just wanted to share the issue I'm experiencing as an end user with the DCS community. Before buying Winwing products, I was honestly very hyped, but I don’t think it's normal for a joystick without a twist axis to actually twist mid-flight, or for a throttle to get stuck after not being touched for 30 seconds and then suddenly jump all the way to the afterburner detent once force is applied. As a solution to the joystick issue, I was told I could buy a rubber gasket myself and install it. To me, that’s not acceptable. Sure, it may be a cheap and practical fix but why should I have to go out and buy parts and put in the effort to make a product I paid €500 for work properly in the first place? They keep attributing the issue to the "characteristics of the damping grease." That might be technically true but it’s not a satisfying explanation. I’m not asking for an instant fix. I’ve been using it regularly for two months, and if it was going to get better over time, it should have by now. I’ve told them that the issue hasn’t improved at all, but they just keep repeating the same generic answer. It doesn’t feel like genuine support — more like an attempt to wear me down and get me to stop asking.

  12. The gun pod? Yes it is there and I believe it is tiltable (you can "lock" a point on the ground and it will follow). Haven't really tested it but since su25a has it working like that then it should work here too since I'm using it's avionics

  14. Hello ED team. I hope you can spare couple of minutes just to address this topic. Is it possible or planned to have functional air source and engine feed knobs so that we can actually damage aircraft when we forget about it ? Also will FLCS screen receive actual error codes if we do something bad ? And we could also mention function IFF codes page Can we hope this will be implemented in the future?

  16. Hello my friends... I have good news for the Community... the J-35 is back in DCS 2025... Iam so sad to see good mods die because of ED´s Updates... Now i wil try to bring back some of these dead believed planes... The J-35 from meimingzi123456 is the first plane what stands up from the death... meimingzi123456 was last seen in 2023 and i think he would be proud to see his plane in the skies of DCS again in 2025... In the next days i will post the download link... But some problems i cant fix at the moment... The biggest problem is that the Gear wont retracted after start...but if you push J+ALTGR the AI will do it but iam working on it... if somebody want help me in this part... i would be thankfull... I planned 2 Versions of the Fighter... One with western weaponary and one with chinese weapons... the first release will be with western weapons... I hope some of you have fun with it Youtube Link

  24. From the Wags' mouth: actual. It will not be a MFD laden airframe. Personally I would have Liked the UH-60 to be on par with the Chinook as their MFDs are the same. But an earlier bird with a a lower SCAS system in an older airframe, with a cranked tail rotor would indeed be a fantastic thing in DCS!...... probably not for the DEVS. Hopefully I am not hearing what I want to hear but basically this will be the only cranked tail rotor chopper in DCS.

  28. Thank you for the new tracks, you need to decouple when calling the ball for a manual trap. ACLS is NOT designed to be engaged all they way to the trap. Later systems like "magic carpet" allowed full hands off trap, but not ACLS when calling the ball, use the paddle to disengage ACLS hope that helps

  29. You already said you wont accept AI doing unphysical things as evidence it does unphysical things, based on when in the game it does them - "Layers" you call them. You then accepted climbing outside of combat as evidence it supports that AI doesnt cheat in dogfights. Meanwhile you conveniently ignore that AI picks when and how it observes the SFM according to no logic that you see, it is in fact, at code level for which you continue to assume, is bound in physics. Simply put, you've made an assertion and said 'prove me wrong'. Which is shifting the burden of proof and a logical fallacy. In fact its a well known situation called Hitchens razor in that What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. You disagree because you think you've supplied evidence that the SFM is working because you observed it at some point(s) doign so. Unfortunately it doesnt work that way. By the same token, God exists because you saw a miracle. This is not solvable empirically, it only needs reasonable doubt about how the AI does work. And that reasonable doubt can come from observational data, not just empirical data. The reaosonable doubt is, because I saw a plane float, I know AI is not confined to physics. Its software and has no regard for Physics and chooses when and where to use it as a convention that helps the game play elements of the game. This is all that is needed to dismiss your assertion, no matter what you want to throw at it. The burden of proof falls upon YOU to prove that the AI always uses Physics. Not sometimes, but always. Until then I shall continue to spectate, just in case you manage to satisfy my curiosity. Because I am open to all things, even if you have code level access. Continue with your argument. WHy dont you try a counter hypothesis approach where you formulate a hypothesis that proves your own is wrong, seek to eliminate that instead, like an actual scientist.

  31. Nothing they tell you is incorrect. You also might work on your behavior and manners is I may notice... They use specific type of grease which on one side smooths out the movement and helps reduce the jitter, but on the other may induce some stickiness as a side effect if left at a certain place. That is by design, you may or may not like it but there's nothing for them to fix as the product is working the way they designed it. What you could do is open up the throttle and replace the grease with the different type, but be careful which you choose as not all greases are made the same.,

  33. Don't think we've reached the stage where 'court dates' are a thing. I hope not, anyway, since that is more or less guaranteed to delay things even further.

  34. There is a lot of emphasis DCS on one-on-one dogfights. Historically most combat would have been group actions, protecting flights of attack aircraft or defending the fleet. Anyone getting into WWII DCS need to realise that. You need to learn to fly each aircraft in the way it was intended to be used. It's fun to watch Growling Sidewinder shoot down an F-22 in an I-16 but it's obviously not realistic. I am sure that the Hellcat and Zero will be interesting aircraft. Any new WWII plane is a very welcome addition.

  36. People are complaining the Anton is slow. The Hellcat-3 has similar preformance in speed. It doesn't have water injection. It can only use bombs, not rockets. I think people will be disappointed in its preformance. That it can turn better then an Anton isn't much help. It's not the turn rate that people complain about, it's it speed. And the Hellcat isn't that fast. Especially without water injection. So yes I think people will complain about it. The Hellcat was never great even in real life. It was just good enough, easy to handle and available when needed. Stuff many sim pilots don't care about.

  38. I have no issues in VR finding controls, cockpit is 1:1 and everything is located correctly, you look at a switch in VR , reach out and its there, sure you don't see your arm or hand in VR, that really never broke immersion for me. After a bit you really don't think about it, it just works.

  41. This is a skinpack compiled for use by the "Iron Curtain Virtual Aviators" lead by 526th Blade who provided much of the research, editing and advise. Thank you sir. The four aircraft presented, 68-0467, 68-0526, 69-0244 and 69-0260 are depicted as they were at Ramstein Air Base circa 1983 and are rendered as close as possible to historical photographs. The folder exceeds the User Files size limit so it can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gc6zjlo9tiokvkwklfxpb/USAF-526th-TFS-Skinpack.zip?rlkey=s6u4u88fnvzgn30vqzulvamnk&dl=0 The zip is designed to be OVGME friendly. Just make sure that all five folders including "USAF_526th_Common" are placed in your "\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-4E-45MC" folder.

  42. It's important to take SMEs in context. I don't think they flew our particular Hornet revision with the upgraded engines, and their F-16 experience I don't believe was with the Block 50, but with lighter, older blocks. These guys have some EXCELLENT experience, and their commentary is very much worth listening to, but this also is a complicated puzzle.

  45. Below is a little booklet telling you more about the campaign. View the trailer on YouTube here: Frequently Asked Questions Q: Difficulty - Is this for beginners or advanced level players? A: Mid-level to advanced. The difficulty builds up gradually, so if you're new, you can take the opportunity to break it up, do a few practice missions, and come back to it again. Q: How long is the campaign and its missions? A: This is a very big campaign. 17 missions in total. You should expect 1 to 3 hours per mission. However, you can use time acceleration when flying to and from your mission area, which will reset to x1 when something new happens. The time to expect for a mission is stated upfront in each mission brief. Q: Is Air-to-Air Refueling necessary? A: Yes and no. It should be possible to complete the first couple of missions without. If you're not good at AAR, then choose the unlimited fuel setting in your DCS game settings and take the opportunity to practice it a bit. Q: Is this a sequel to the Raven One campaigns? A: No, but if you enjoyed Raven One and Dominant Fury, you'll definitely enjoy this one. Q: Are the missions realistic and based on real mission flown in Syria like in The Gamblers? A: The missions are realistic and based on the types of missions that the Coalition flew against ISIS in Syria at the time. However, the missions themselves are fictional as well as the characters. The reason for this is to keep the campaign accessible, entertaining and educational. Keep in mind that sorties flown from the Truman often lasted 6-8 hours with several refuelings and a lot of time waiting and looking. Q: Are there Easter Eggs in this campaign and what are they? A: Yes, some of them you'll just come across, others only occur in specific circumstances.
