  1. Last I had seen in the sim, they had white lights. I just went and watched a more recent video and they were orange. :dunno:
  2. I was just going to post asking about this! THANK YOU! :worthy::thumbup: EDIT: I vote to make this a sticky.
  3. I haven't actually purchased any switches yet, so I didn't know that they were that hard to grab. Thanks for the info.
  4. Instead of using LEDs that shine their light straight up, you could try side-emitting LEDs like these: http://www.vishay.com/docs/83057/tlvg420.pdf
  5. Not quite the same shape as the others, but these fit the On-Off-(On) actuation. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/M2019LL1W01/360-2671-ND/1027457
  6. Ah, ok. Is that because there aren't really armored vehicles to defeat?
  7. Combat Mix is a mixture of armor piercing and high explosive ammunition in a 4:1 ratio, and is the real-world load for the A-10.
  8. At the very worst, a lightning strike would take out some avionics or an antenna. Most strikes result in only small burn marks that are easily repaired. The current just flows around the aircraft and continues on it's path to the cloud. EDIT: The above is true if the surface of the aircraft is conductive and the static dissipation system is working properly. Composite aircraft need special conductive paths built into the surface to not explode.
  9. Hopefully the reputation system can help weed out those that just want to cause trouble.
  10. Or you could go about it for free: http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/
  11. Have you tried adding some weight to the side of the collective opposite the hinge to balance it out and make the bolt work?
  12. No problem. Good luck with your pit!:joystick:
  13. There are several people working with Arduino code and DCS. Gadroc is close to releasing code for the Leonardo to talk to Helios, as discussed in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=107156& And near the end of this thread, it is indicated that there are some other efforts working towards the same goal: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100076 I'm sure that there are other builders on this board that have used Arduinos in their pits.
  14. I don't know anything about specific machines, but I do know that price tends to vary with complexity and setup time required. On the scale from kit to fully-built machine, the kits will be cheap, but require a lot of knowledge, time, and fiddling to yield acceptable results. A fully-built ready to cut machine will be much more expensive, likely in the thousands of US dollars.
  15. Good to hear it's still alive. I'm eagerly awaiting this one! :)
  16. The ideas in this thread seem too good to be true! As others have said, I am a complete newb at programming and electronics. The challenges of getting an Arduino to talk to DCS seem daunting. I've done CAD for my own HSI, but I shudder to think of what that would cost in money and troubleshooting time. :fear: But if this solution works out, I do have some money put aside to throw at this. Any updates on the progress?
  17. I'm going to start working on a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering in the fall. After that, I will hopefully work for an airframer and make my way up to test pilot status.
  18. Don't know if it's still relevant, but you can look in the game manual at the MFCD section. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gqj7ccguqdd0q2a/DCS%20A-10C%20Flight%20Manual.pdf And I also happen to have the A model manual too: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vp3jbfiy7r7wzcn/473774.pdf Best of luck and thank you for your service!
  19. I read about the Ka-50 in an issue of PC Pilot. I picked it up, but my Saitek X52 didn't really do it justice, and I'm not really a rotorcraft fan. Thus, it fell from use. Then I heard about the A-10. Now I'm almost ready to start cutting panels for my simpit project.:)
  20. This is where you can get Helios: http://www.gadrocsworkshop.com/helios
  21. I like the burned out hulk from a previous attempt next to the taxiway. :D Did it spin with the antenna?
  22. I replaced my mouse with one of these: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-trackball-m570Maybe you could integrate it into the pit? Or even use the electronics in your own design.
  23. The point of DCS is that the team uses de-classified data to model their aircraft. Therefore, you'll never see newer aircraft anytime soon. Not to mention that I think the -22 and -35 are terrible subjects for a DCS module.
  24. Great job you've done there, but the Fire Handles are lit with white.
  25. So the Arduino will manage communications between the computer and the EOS boards?
