  1. I know it will never happen, but hey I'd still love to fly it :)
  2. try a touch screen overlay - i got a cheap one from aliexpress.com and it works as you'd expect - its not quite as good as something like a tablet where the display is the touchscreen, but for pushing buttons in a cockpit works perfectly. You just strap it to your screen (it comes with the straps) and plug in the USB cord and you're ready to go.
  3. I'll have to try that one next time I get caught speeding :)
  4. Gotta catch'em all at these prices!
  5. I didn't hear the trimmer button go off once during that video - just curious, were you using the the all of the autopilot channels? Oh and very nice flying!:D
  6. That roger dodger video is probably the best solution, you could also do it with some carpet or a rug. Or of course http://obutto.com/?page_id=2796 lol :)
  7. having an IR version of the SHKVAL would be awesome. I guess it might not be too hard to mod that in from the A-10C if you know what you are doing (which i dont lol). The targets stand out very nicely in IR, so its less strain on my eyes and much quicker scouting. Also a progressive zoom like the A-10C would be good too, instead of just narrow/wide. and +1 to the Anti Air missiles! But i guess the Ka-52 probably does all of this :)
  8. aww but then were are the magic invisible pixies going to work? This is a great idea - I suppose you could write a lua script to do this, but then i'd have to be added to every mission. Anyway i'd be awesome either way!
  9. I love in the A-10C training missions all of the buttons are highlighted so that you know where to look and what to press. Now the automatic engine start up procedure is cool (WIN+HOME keys). But I think that it would super cool if you could press WIN+HOME twice or something like that, and instead of the automatic start up procedure it goes through a button highlight procedure. So you can flick the buttons in the right order, without necessarily knowing the exactly what you are doing - kind of like an in between of auto-start and manual start. I think it would be a great way to learn the start up procedure gradually while you play online, it would stop the boring 4 minutes of sitting there and doing nothing while the aircraft starts on its own. And also it would feel like you are actually starting the plane yourself because you get to press all of the right buttons in the right order. Maybe this can somehow be implemented into existing missions already, but I think this would be better as a proper feature of the sim.
  10. So can you cheat by flying without the collective brake / altitude hold. Then when you want a stable altitude, turn on altitude hold, and press/release the collective brake? Also when using radar altimeter, with altitude hold setup correctly - say at a low 20m, will the shark follow mildly hilly terrain and try to always stay 20m above the changing terrain? Edit sorry one more question :) When you engage hover hold, altitude hold channel gets enabled automatitcally, so you need to press the collective brake to tell it what altitude you want? or will it use the previously set altitude, or will it automatically use the current altitude.
  11. I've made a little crosshair mod that makes the HMS a little less intrusive so its easier to keep enabled more often, and because the center of the reticle is now transparent I find it better when scouting around at full zoom levels since it doesnt block what you are aiming at. Works beautifully with this HMS center position in the OP :) Extract attachment into: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\Resources\IndicationTextures Desktop.zip
  12. Definitely agree that flying the shark is the hard part, the weapons systems are quite straight forward, and not so different to the FC3 series. I think if you are familiar with how the weapons systems work on the SU-25T, you'll be right at home in the Black Shark. All of the aimed weapons consist of designating a target with the reticule, turning to face more or less in that general direction, and firing :) To get in the air its really as simple as pressing the Auto-Start key combo, and watching the switches press themselves :) (or course you can always edit the mission and set yourself to be "parked hot start" so you are ready to go as soon as the mission loads. Using the weapons systems involves: Turning the laser switch Turning On Master Arm Turning On the TV Shkval Selecting your weapon Designating target Blowing said target sky high :) There are of course many more advanced functions that it can do, but you will naturally progress to those as you play. Also when I said flying is the hard part, well to me it was like learning to ride a bike for the first time. If you practice regularly in short bursts (do some 10-15 minute flights every day for a few weeks) you'll eventually get in sync with the way the aircraft moves. It will frustrate the **** out of you, but eventually you will just "get it" and suddenly the shark does what you want it to do. Once you are used to the trimmer, the shark is a really smooth chopper to fly, it really sings! If I may gloat for just a minute, I only just feel like I've started to fly confidently in the shark this weekend, and man, it is a lot of fun zoom through a city 15 meters above the ground, doing tight turns between buildings :) btw I found practicing flying on a nice big airport really helpful - I'd bascially used the two runways as a circuit and just fly round and round like in daytona haha. Good luck and enjoy! :)
  13. AH64D with radar guided AGM - count me in! :)
  14. Those are fairly easily fixed with custom snap views :) EDIT: (change the default snap view and save it, so that when you press your trackIR recenter button it'll reset to where ever you made the snap view). http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views
  15. thank you, this was driving me crazy since I like to be 100% zoomed when scouting the landscape :)
  16. I was worried about that too when I was new, but I say just hop in and fly MP :) As long as you don't fly into anyone, everyone will have a blast :) The AEF has a playground server running most of the time, where there aren't really any specific goals, but its really fun just being in multiplayer and trying everything out.
  17. thanks - that was precisely the problem!
  18. I'd love to be able to go into settings/options to be able quickly change a few things without having to exit. (especially in multiplayer, or when you've just spent 10 minutes start up a plane and you realise you forgot to map a button). I can understand if some of the graphics settings aren't possible to change, but if at least the controls could be changed and checked in game it would make things much easier :) Thx!
  19. This is brilliant man! This SIM needs all it can get when it comes to being friendly to new users - especially now that its not steam, if its going to want to capture people that have a passing interest then it needs to spoon feed them at at least in the beginning.
  20. Thanks, I must be doing something silly then :) ( i might try adding a dead zone ) I believe Central Position Trimmer Mode should be enabled unless you have a FFB joystick. EDIT : NOPE! Dead zone did not fix it - if anyone has any suggestions i'm all ears :)
  21. Since around the 1.2.5 patch I've been having trouble trimming. About 1 in 10 times when I trim, the game doesn't recognise that I've returned my stick to the center, and I lose all control of the shark. I can correct it if quick reach out to the keyboard and hit one of the arrow keys, but thats not idea obviously as by then my shark is already 1/2 crashed :) anyone else noticed the same thing recently? using a warthog hotas.
  22. I have a question about the stealth technology (FYI I only understand the very basics of how radar detection works...): I've heard people say on youtube that the F-35's stealth signature is about the size of a golf ball to beach ball. And that of course you can detect this on radar if you tune it to pick up small objects, and that the reason it is stealthy is that you can't tell the difference on a radar between the F-35's beach ball sized signature vs say a bird's radar signature - and you don't want to track birds on your radar. So to me it sounds like that the stealth is based on the principle that the enemy radar cannot distinguish between birds and the F-35. If that is the case, can't they just detect everything, and then filter out things that would fly slower than an F-35? As no bird would be flying at even the slowest speed of the F-35 (let alone Mach 1+) right? Is my limited knowledge of radar technology way off, or did I just ruin stealth technology for everyone lol? (and I'm probably going to die in an "accident" care of Lockheed Martin)
  23. just put all of the su-25t's on a different airport :P
