  1. Way late on this string but the OP really struck a nerve with me trying to figure all this out By way of evidence, just these 2 sentences . . . Effin hurts my little brain just to read them Auto ACQ, TGP is SOI, FOV, TDC slewing, CCIP/CCPR (aka AUTO) Pray for me
  2. Incredibly nit-picky, but small things sometimes help people from being confused. In some places in the manual the boxed numbers refer to the UFC Menu Button Number (PB) (or MFD PB) (e.g. page 236 8.16.3 Autopilot Controls) In other places the Yellow boxed numbers refer to the step number in the explanation (page 239 8.16.3.2 Autopilot Altitude Hold mode) In other places, its mix-up in the text (page 244 8.16.4.2. Heading Select Coupled Mode). The text reads "boxed by pressing PB 3 (1). Why not make that boxed Yellow number also be a 3 to match the PB number? It would be good if it was more consistent with some type of differentiation between a PB and a Step Number. Maybe a different color than always Yellow or a different Shape (circle and square) To be clear, do not do anything that takes time away from actually releasing the module. Manuals can wait until two weeks after the module is released? When is that by the way?
  3. There's a reason for the cliched 'two weeks' joke that everyone uses. This just perpetuates it.
  4. Thanks, I was trying to fall back and use the mouse, but it doesn't seem to be tracking right either for me to select switches. It all worked fine under SteamVR but now not so much in OpenXR, but the graphics and smoothness is so much better. . . . arghhhhh
  5. I'm so sad, I'm gonna have to go back to steamvr since I can't starup without being able to flip a switch both ways or turn a dial. I can't be the only person that is having this issue with G2 controllers and openxr. what is everyone else doing to flip a switch or turn a dial?
  6. Hi I'm super frustrated (after being so happy with Openxr). I can't get get anything to 'click' right. my G2 controllers don't work like they used to (the hat doesn't flip switches). The mouse doesn't seem to flip switches correctly. Basically I can't fly after seeing such great stability improvement with OpenXR. but if I can't start up, it's useless and I'll have to go back to steamVR. What am I doing wrong, I can point at switches with the G2 controller and 'flip' them one way but the hat doesn't work like it did in SteamVR where I could flip a switch or dial either way with the hat. I can't use the mouse either to point at the switch or dial. Give me some help cause I really don't want to go back to steamvr after the graphics upgrade with openxr. thanks
  7. did anyone every solve this? I recently moved to openxr with G2 and the controllers don't work right, specifically the hat on the controllers doesn't let me flip a switch on or off, just off
  8. this is the best thing since the DCS implemented multi-thread processing!!! Seriously, this SEEMS SO MUCH SMOTHER. I'm getting 43-44 FPS with setting on High and it seems so smooth, 65-69 FPS on VR setting, (5800X3D, 64GB, 3080), Damn, this is worth it just for the non stuttering splash screen Now for my newbie questions can you dock the FPS and clock so it doesn't follow my view around? should I uninstall steamVR or does it not matter? not a DCS questions, but will openVR run with Il-2 and MSFS the same way with the same nice improvements? how do you land?
  9. I’m actually not trying to be an a$$, but just want to be sure I understand. For DCS ( in particular), all I should care about from a HW point of view is single core clock speed and GPU rasterazation performance, right? DCS (and most games) aren’t taking advantage of DLSS or FSR or RT cores or Ray Tracing, correct? If I can get the best single core speed, best rastorizing GPU, decent amount of memory, that’s about the best I can hope for . . . I was thinking of going the 4090 route, but it’s got a lot of silicon I would just “waste”. If RDNA 3 is best in raster performance, what do I care if it sucks at ray traceing? I’m VR 100% and also do IL2 and MFFS Am I on the right track here or missing something ? Ryzen 7 3700X, 64 GB memory, 3080 10gb, Reverb G2 TIA
  10. Don’t flame me, but this post also did hit home to me. DCS is really hard to even do simple things. I’ve found myself spending much more time on IL2 the past several months BECAUSE it is more “arcady “. I can jump in, start flying in VR (with way less hassles and more fidelity than DCS) and be having. “fun” ( in my opinion) while I’d still be waiting for the INS to calibrate in DCS. The sheer complexity of each aircraft is also a challenge. There is little “hopping into something you flew a months ago” and having any hope of remembering all the intricacies of that plane I get to each his own and that’s great, I just personally wish ED would spend a bit more time on the core engine and VR experience than implementing some switch that is buried in the cockpit or some new complex radar mode To grow the community ED needs to appeal to more than the 1% hardcore enthusiasts. just my humble take.
  11. Why is the Apache $56 on Steam and $64 direct from ED? Seems like it should be the opposite if anything
  12. Can we end these posts? I's been years . . and years. There is no such thing; there never will be such a thing. Excuses such as supply chain only work for a year a two. Can't we please just get a definitive statement from VKB that this is never going to happen and if they won't make it, I will. There never was and never will be a VKB TECS Throttle. Can we all get back to bitching about DCS's lack of multi-thread support and poor VR performance?
  13. Thanks @BIGNEWY are we talking how you can't 'throw' a switch or knob either direction with the G2 controller presently? You used to be able to use the hat on the controller to flip either direction, but right now it's only one direction, so I can only turn the battery to test, not to on . . . . at least the laser came back . . .
  14. I'm the I like the laser beam for my G2 controller, I can't 'flip' a switch due to the physical layout of my desk and laser lets me. Different question, the laser is back but now the hat on the controller doesn't work like it used to to throw a switch or know up or down, now all I can get is one way, so I can't even get the battery on, since it only flips to test. Not how it used to work. Am I doing something wrong or did something change? thanks in advance
  15. I guess it's been reported, just gotta wait, I'm in same state, using G2, no more laser pointer, hat switch doesn't turn knobs or flip switches correctly any more as well. . but I guess the logoed glove looks better than the old black one.
  16. Lots of crashes for me in 2.7, never got one in 2.5. I'm RX3700X, MSI X570, 3080, 32 GB. Very frustrating as I can't get anything to be stable now. Pretty clouds aren't pretty if you can't see them . . .
  17. @Gunnar81 fair enough. I count there are ~190 settings between WMR, StreamVR, Nvidia and DCS of which it seems about 20-25 more directly effect performance and stability (resolution settings, smoothing, refresh rates etc.) 20 settings means there are at least 1,048,575 combinations of settings and, more realistically, an order of magnitude more than that since many settings have multiple values. I have certainly tried about 200,000 (ok not really, but feels like it) of these combinations by this time including many of the ones posted here from bignews, speed-of-heat, 71st mastiff and dozens of others. I'll be oz555, dburne and unlikely_spider all have different configuration settings. All are different, all very correctly point out YMMV and try to see what works for you - which is my point. I want to fly DCS, not try thousands of setting combinations just to get something that is stable and works decently. I get you can putz around forever to get 5 more FPS and a little sharper experience, but it shouldn't be this hard for a commercial software product to just work at some level. IL-2 does. The very tactical problem I have is the VR support, things work pretty well on my system on my 4K monitor, but I want the VR experience to work. I'm clearly not alone in this, you can read hundreds of posts about the old code that is DCS, the old engine, the single thread aspect, the poor VR support and on and on. Again, that's my point, why spend programmer resources on TXDSR for the likely few that may use that when a much higher percentage of people are frustrated with the base product? I get DCS blue screens, I get a 'rolling effect' occasionally in VR, my opening menu stutters so badly its nauseating (and I'm a real world pilot I don't get sick easily), I can get 45 FPS locked in, but clarity is poor, I can get 60-80 fps with better clarity but stutter, Georgia map is more stable than PG map with the same setup. It would be great if someone can give me guidance as which of the 1M+ combinations of settings will fix the issues I'm seeing . Thanks in advance for your help I get no one can help me and I'm being sarcastic out of frustration and really just giving ED some business advice to consider putting programming resources on the things 99% of users want vs. the small, incremental things only a few will use. It's not going to happen, of course, since ED basically has a monopoly in this niche and has no competitive pressures to build a more robust core platform. Nobody is going to care except me but and I'll be sad, but likely to spend more time with IL-2 in coming months.
  18. Frustrated Reverb G2 user and about to give up on DCS until something changes. Been messing with settings and drivers for weeks now and can't get a stable, high quality set up. Either WMR crashes ( I get that's not ED's direct issue) or the DCS menu flicker makes me sick or lately DCS crashes to desktop. I thought this was all 'normal' bleeding edge until I flew IL-2 again after a long time. It just worked - very clear, no crashes, 90 FPS. DCS is spending time upgrading my FA18 to have TXDSR and Sea radar which is all very cool, but in the mean time the VR experience is horrible, the base engine is outdated and stability is lousy. It's starting to feel like DCS is just a programmers playground to put interesting additions in that few people will actually use at the expense of having a commercially viable product. It bums me out, I'd rather fly my FA18 off a super carrier or an F5 over the Persian Gulf, but after going back to IL-2 for just an hour, I realized how poor the whole DCS experience currently is. I want to have fun, fly planes, interact with the systems, learn things. But the whole DCS product under VR (and especially a G2 is just poor. Usability was better with my Rift-S but then I sacrifice clarity) It saddens me, but likely playing Il-2 (and MSFS) more in the coming months Ryzen 3700x 32 GB Ram 3080 Reverb G2
  19. <cranky rant> this poop hurts my head. Settings in Mixed Reality Portal, Settings in SteamVR; both General and then Video for game specific. Settings in Game. Uncommenting a line (or maybe not) in a file buried 12 sub-directories deep. Motion Reproduction, Motion Sampling, Super Sampling, 54% here then 100% here unless you do 100% here and 204% here, unless of course you have a G1 then everything is different. Nothing about this is intuitive or easy to understand or set up. fpsVR can show one thing, in game FPS shows another, little green/blue/more blue boxes show something else. I can find 11 different videos and 43 different posts that all say something different and something different to tweak or change; all of which contradicts each other. When the F is 2020 over? Ryzen 3700X 32MB Ram 3080 Reverb G2 (thinking of plugging in the Rift S again, just cuz) Rant over, please return to your regularly scheduled, impossible to follow, string. I'm going back to Leisure Suit Larry
  20. won't upgrade after SSD move So I copied over DCS to a new NVME Drive (went from E: to C: ) Sim runs, but won't upgrade. In the autoupdatelog file I get this error message 00007.725 ERROR: Can't create directory E:\DCS2: (3) The system cannot find the path specified. So it's still looking for E: to update How do I fix this? Thanks in advance
