  1. Yeah, I was originally thinking "Wait, are those new tents?" And then I zoomed in and noticed the distinctive R2D2 dome and was like "Waaaaaaaait a second...."
  2. Anyone else notice the CRAM system in one of the screenshots?
  3. without even watching the vids, I can say with some level of certainty that missiles are more likely to miss the more outside their kill-zone the target is. For example, you fire a Phoenix at a target <15mi away, odds are he's not getting away. Same thing happens with an Igla or Strella if they're fired at such a close range at a target showing its burner cans to the missile/launcher. No amount of maneuvering or countermeasures will save you at that point.
  4. So, I'm sure many in here are fans of Nassault, especially his 'realistic Ace Combat' videos (which are always well made imho). Well, in the one for "Invincible Fleet", it has a Bismarck-class Battleship playing the role of the Erusian Battleship "Tanager" (in universe an Iowa-class Battleship), and during the fight, it unloads several SAMs at Mobious Ones Hornet. Now, we all know that this would be impossible in the real world as the KMS Bismarck is about 35,000ft below the surface of the Atlantic and KMS Tirpitz had an interesting conversation with a Tallboy bomb. But... what if either ship survived the war, was kept by the Germans, and modernized over the course of the Cold War in the same way Iowa and her sisters were. The video: Realistic? Heck no. Interesting to ponder? Yes. So, would any of you guys want to see some of these toys in DCS? They don't have to be that extreme, but there were some proposals that were real, like the proposed Iowa 'battle carrier' upgrade: Now, I'm not talking about anything stupid, like mounting SM2s to CSS Virginia, but it would be kind of interesting to see what certain ships could've looked and fought like had the designs and modernizations been approved.
  5. This has been requested a number of times already my dude
  6. I second this for the most part. However I think that the Cat crew should be available regardless as their whole job is to get you lined up and hooked up. But that's just me.
  7. Well, recreating the 'dogfight' in Firebirds would be quite fun, and going a bit more arcady, doing some of the objectives in the various Strike games would also be quite interesting to see done in a realistic manor.
  8. The Cobra would probably be the best option to go for in my opinion. I don't know how best to go with the gun, since even the first Cobras used the Minigun, Grenade Launcher, or the 20mm cannon (the latter being experimented on before TOWs got added to the Cobra's biting ability). But I think that given that the engine, rotors, and tail assembly were all taken from the UH-1 we have in game, adding the early model AH-1s should be an easy addition for DCS, and perfect for Vietnam era bouts.
  9. This I'm aware of, I'm just wondering how things are coming with what's being worked on is all.
  10. Since we have a Forrestal Update thread, why not one for the Intruder? How is the development progressing? What versions will we get for the AI versions (as in which variants of the Intruder)? How is work on the player-controlled version going? What ordinance will we have access to at first (in either instance), and so on. So... Heatblur.... how is the A-6 coming along?
  11. Let's just hope it's not plastered behind a paywall
  12. I hate to burst your bubble dude, but that's a more modern OLS, likely seen on a Nimitz class. Here's one on Abraham Lincoln: Here's one that's aboard USS Ranger, one of CV59s sisters:
  13. Someone needs to model the Big E herself. After all, that's a ship that spanned many global conflicts and crisis
  14. Additional infantry models are being made as we speak, it's just going to take some time for them to come out. But you can see some of the new models here:
  15. That seems to be an issue with DCS in general. Heck, a while back I spawned in, was going through my start-up, and all of a sudden, there's this Allison Engine where my pilots head should be, followed shortly after by an explosion as physics kicked back in.
  16. Best thing to do in the interum is start the E2 on the cat, which only makes sense as they would be taking off ahead of everyone else (except the Plane Guard of course).
  17. I can't be the only one that noticed that that pilots flight suit seems a bit..... modern....
  18. People have been demanding this for a while. At least we have a draw tool now!
  19. That's not what the Nighthawk was built for. Yes, the F-117 could drop LGBs on a radar, but doing so creates the risk of detection before the bomb clears the plane (at which point the door closes), which could be enough for some systems to get a snap shot off. The F-117 was built for one single purpose: Pin-point Strike deep behind enemy lines, and that's what it's good at.
  20. Not a bad idea. Although I'd go a step further and add it as a bonus when buying any of the warbirds as well. After all, if you buy, for example, a P-47 or Mosquito, shouldn't we also get the very items that the aircraft had to fight as well?
  21. I will agree with most of these, except the suicide bomber. The reason why is due to how touchy a subject that is in various parts of the world to even include such a thing in what amounts to a video game (seriously, look up what C&C Generals had to go through back in 2003 for German release). For best results on that subject, I would say use scripting, which I have done with some experiments and it looks quite impressive if it's done right. Mines and IEDs have been requested in the past a number of times, but, again, for now, best to use scripting to get it right. And yeah, having the farkers occupy a house would be nice, but it would require full interiors be modeled for every structure, and that would probably take years to properly do. However, since you seem to be into COIN Ops, my unit is actually running two campaigns (well, as of this coming Friday we will be) that deal with Counter-Insurgency. If you're interested, shoot me a PM, and I'll give ya a Discord invite.
  22. I wasn't talking about something the size of a 119, I was talking about something even smaller and lighter than that, Something designed for the Airborne troops to have shoved out the back of their transports when they jump. The 119 is designed to be brought in once the Crazy B.... erm.... I mean first wave have a spot secured to put it.
  23. well, transporting a towed gun via Huey is possible if it's something like one of those 105mm pack howitzers, but if it's a 155mm field piece, I think a Huey would struggle to actually lift the thing.
  24. Actually, if you go here: And just check in now and then, you'll see some updates as they become available. It's typically updated at least once a week, and more and more as bigger patches start coming down the pipe.
  25. It would be nice if this tool did exist so people know where they can expect slow-downs in performance on specific maps
