  1. Something that I imagine is also governed by the aircrafts onboard computer, correct?
  2. One that I'd add is that the mods should all be uploaded to a specific area where people download them from. This way we don't run into the problem of "Where do I get the mod from?", you just hand the other person a mod list, and their games searches for, and downloads it automatically. Similar to a certain ground combat sim we all know.
  3. You might have to explain what ya mean by that, as this is something I'm not familiar with.
  4. which is certainly fine for starting the plane and doing some tasks, but tracking targets is another matter.
  5. Seeing the bit about the IHADS for the upcoming Apache, one thing I think would be nice to have for those us who lack VR or a reliable Track IR, is a way to track targets in the cockpit. My only caviat is that it should only work when you could actually 'see' the target normally, as in, you can't look through the floor, seat, or console of the aircraft. What do you guys think? Is this something that could be viable for those on a tighter budget?
  6. Dude, they practically rammed the blasted thing, and it didn't do a damn thing to the missile.... plane was in a million pieces though
  7. Also, GR attempted to do the whole flipping thing with missiles.... it doesn't work
  8. Looks like the product of an An26 and a P-3 after they ducked out during a wild party for a party of their own...
  9. Let's face it folks, we all have'em. We all have our little pilots who wish they had thumbs and could join their humans flying our planes... some are better at it then others... so... Yup, it's the 'show your pets' thread XD I'll start with my two crew: My Dog Athena, and her partner in crime, Drucara. Drucara is a bit better at the whole flying airplanes bit though: So, who else has some co-pilots to show off?
  10. Either way, with any luck, this will solve his issue.
  11. In the F-14, when in low-light conditions the signal to the cat crew that the pilot is ready to launch is when he turns off the exterior lights and turns them back on. So if you must make sure the lights are on while taxiing, then once you're hooked up and given the spool-up signal, and you're ready to launch, flick the lights on and off, and it the shooter should give the launch signal
  12. In the case of the C47, it's because it's everywhere. With some minor alterations, or an engine change, the Dakota's been pulling its weight and more around the world, and is still in use today. Thus, why it makes a good choice for a proper module, along with the C-130. These two aircraft a major workhorses of the aviation world, and I think it's safe to say that both deserve to be given the FFM treatment in DCS.
  13. You kidding? The JSDF loves to show off and help companies out. They helped in the production of Yukikaze, helping the writers use the correct jargon, and allow the sound guys record the internal sounds of the F-15J. With Gate, they also helped the production team by modeling all of their toys in good enough detail that the animators were able to make things look not just correct, but also look as if they function correctly. So, yeah, I think the JSDF would love to have some their toys in DCS, but the problem is what's just across a small spit of water from them.
  14. To be fair, it probably wouldn't be all that difficult compared to most combat aircraft. Sure, there's plenty on the real C-130 that's still very much classified, but those systems don't have to be modeled to have a functional plane. Those features could be added later of course, especially once they become declassified, but I still think the best option is for those already working on the bird to continue doing so and have it added to the game officially.
  15. This has been requested several times, and I think ED is actually working on the animated ground crew, it's just going to take some time to fully implement as there's a lot of moving parts to this sort of thing.
  16. Ya know, I'd say the best candidate is the C-130J. Why? Well, we already have a team that put one together for DCS as a mod, so why reinvent the wheel? It would make far more sense to give the Herc team access to the SDK, let them build the C-130 to the level we all come to expect in a proper DCS Module, and with the right permissions and clearances, they could even go out and record an actual Allison engine being put through its paces. Sure, all the other transport aircraft are nice ones to have, but from a business standpoint, I think the C-130J is probably the best candidate as it could be brought in comparatively quickly and easily. That's just my educated guess however
  17. why not have them all? Although it is odd how often this subject gets brought up....
  18. Because at the end of the Razbam has been working on this module for several years, and adding this feature would require Razbam to do even more work for the flight model, that could add months or even years more work. CFDs take a long time to do, and removing the CFTs would mean literally have to do an entirely new one. Do you really want Razbam to add another year or more to the development, a year or more where they aren't making a penny from the aircraft, on a feature that the aircraft just isn't used operationally with? Or would you rather that this be a feature that can be tacked on after they have it out? Me personally, I would rather that Razbam had just gone the route of "minimum usability" to get the thing out as soon as reasonably possible. Rather than waiting for a decade for every ounce of capability that the aircraft has.
  19. reading through this whole thread, I wonder when we'll be getting some more big metal floaty thingies..... It would certainly be nice to have some URS ships, Landing craft of various shapes and sizes, and even just some more combat vessels of various shapes and sizes.
  20. Yeah, like being able to create an actual 'country' of sorts
  21. There's just two problems with your request: 1. Both are nuclear capable aircraft with very strict rules regarding their portrals 2. Both require a second (or in the case of the BOne, up to 3 more!) crew to operate properly. Ergo, while I'd love to see both aircraft in DCS (and yes, I agree the Lancer is a sexy angel of death and destruction), you'd have more luck stealing a B-1B from the USAF then the AFGSC letting Jon Doe Game Designer anywhere near that information.
  22. well, one way to think of it, is as an F-15D with CFTs.... because that's basically what the prototype was (or was it a B?). Either way, I'd highly recommend it when it releases, or, if you're on stand alone, give her a two-week trial. Ya might just come to like the Mud Hen.
  23. Before people start smashing their face on the "Exterminatus Button", take note that I do not hate the Phantom, for its time it was a good plane, just had a bad go with politicians calling all the shots in its design and use. It could've certainly been better, and by all metrics, it very much should've had many of the features adapted to it later on from day one. But, like I've said before, this is a post aimed at those who try to over-rate the Phantom, believing it more capable than it actually is/was. As for the longevity, one thing I will say is that when a country spends potentially billions of dollars on an aircraft (Design, Development, and Procurement), you're going to get as much use out of the thing as you can until the wings fall off, or in the case of the F-15, until the nose section falls off. But, at the end of the day, it is the buyers choice what they get. If someone makes a Phantom, odds are I'll get it myself, especially if it's one of the more recent models (like the EJ in use with the JSDF), but I want people to be aware that it is very much an aircraft of its era, and while it's still to be respected, I don't want people acting as though it's the best plane in the world. It was good enough for its era, but as @G.J.S said, the torch had to be passed on, and many of the Phantoms users upgraded to F-15s and F-16s, and haven't looked back.
  24. Because sometimes they can be quite entertaining to read, and great for a good laugh. Other times.... well.... More along the lines of "Are you sure this is what you want?" seeing how many people treat the F-4 as the best plane eva.
  25. In some ways yes, but in others... well... I'm torn really. IRL, no two FOBs will ever look the same, so I'm more partial to the idea of letting the players create their own rather than using the statics. That said, ED could create a 'fortification' that can act as a FARP, and then we can create a template using it.
