Hi all, I wonder if someone can help. I have watched the tutorials by Jabbers and gone through the manual but still confused. My plan is that I would like to loft some bombs at a target protected by SAMs from the front seat. My first thought was to find it with the Lantern, designate and then get low and loft. Is there anyway of doing this with Jester? Or do you need a real RIO? Is it a tech limitation as the Lantern is a separate system does it not send any data to the aircraft? Does the pilot need to still manually get the diamond in place and designate first? Any help would be gratefully received, thanks in advance.

Hi @Reflected its kind of a memoir. The author himself was a reporter who was given access and free reign to talk to anyone, he stayed on the boat, swapping state rooms on occasion to get closer to different groups. The sqns involved were the Tomcatters and Red Rippers for the tomcats and the Sunday Punchers and Buckeyes flying the A6. The crews slowly relax to him and end up taking him under their wing and using him as a confessional.

Hey Reflected, happy Christmas and a merry New Year. I hope you have a good one and it's a great year ahead. At Christmas I got an old book 'Super Carrier' by George Wilson. It follows his opportunity to do a cruise on the USS Kennedy in 1983-84, a routine tour that ended up off Lebanon following the Beruit bombing. It largely follows the F14 and A6 crews and I think it could definitely form the basis for a decent campaign for either aircraft, especially the A6 when it arrives. Definitely worth a read if you get the chance.

I just wanted to express my thanks and say what a phenomenal display you did for the virtual airshow. I'm so hyped and it's nice to finally put a face to names. Thanks heatblur for keeping raising the bar.

This is brilliant thanks. Not sure if it's just me but I can't spawn in a slit at Biggin Hill. Or rather I can but the aircraft is slingshot across the airfield. Same for cold or hot start in any of the prescribed slots. However, if I start from ground and manually place at the airfield, that works fine both hot and cold.

Mind blown!!!! That realisation of having a couple of hundred hours shared with Jester and being reminded that it have no idea what he looks like

@IronMike I have an important question(s) for you which a friend suggested. 1. Does Jester 2.0 get a mustache? 2. Can you tweak the Jester model in the same way you are going to be able to change the pilot. And 3..... completely the wrong place but what about the A6?

@IronMike i believe you and do feel rather spoilt with yesterday's news! I noted lots of Intruder comments that leads me to think its further along than i thought. See you in a couple of months! I have a new aircraft on the way to learn!

I'm currently trying to create a mission based on a real life event where an apache pair got ambushed. I have it working quite well with one exception. On the tsd display, if the crew click to show threats then the enemy units are displayed. Obviously this rather scuppers the whole ambush part. Is there anyway in the editor to remove this? I have fog of war turned on.

Hi all, not sure if this is my system, something with 2.9 or an older bug as its been a while but, when doing a case 3 after recovering the lights on the carrier have a momentary glitch. As the deck landing lights turn off there is maybe half a second or so before the ambient lights etc come on. It's the same in both the hornet and tomcat. I haven't included a log as was uncertain it would show anything as everything else worked perfectly. Happy to share the files if it will help although may try reducing the distance to the carrier first to make it a smaller size. Ta

Random question but is there a Marianas map version of this? I love it I fly it frequently but find despite myself I'm using the mountains in the background to line up. Figure the Marianas would have proper deep water traps without the extra references.

I was uncertain where to ask these so I thought sod it and have put them here. One is a specific heatblur question, the other is a more general aviation one. So first. With regards Jester 2.0, is it going to be the same voice actor? The same cheekiness, etc or is the Jester term simply a reference to the AI script? I have read lots but nothing specific about who is voicing him. Second, totally un-heatblur related but the imagery had me thinking.... did the Phantom tail hook have any issues with thermal shock damage? It's placement between the cans must have subjected it to pretty intense temperature variations. Whilst I know designers are smart and there is probably a simple answer, was there ever any incidents of damage, breakages etc to the hook due to thermal stress and/or did it reduce the 'life' of the hook?

Hi @Reflected, hope you are well. I figured this was as good a place to put it as any but i wonder if you could help? While i feel moderately confident in avoiding IR SAMs i still feel lost when it comes to radar guided ones like in this campaign. I wondered if you could create a video or mission to help teach in either this or speed and angels? I'm aware that Bio and Paco might not want to go into too many real details for obvious reasons and that dcs systems may not be hugely accurate, but I wondered if you could help show us how to best do it in the game. I feel much more confident in all other aspects of the Tomcat thanks to your campaigns but feel this is where I fall down. Alternatively if anyone has any advice on where too look. Ta

Hi @Reflected this same thing has just happened to me on hop 7. I have replayed this campaign multiple times and select missions countless times and its never happened before. He did fly a beautiful formation into the ground though. Anyway I guess this bug isn't fixed.

Hi @Reflected, I saw the message but I meant on the kneecard or during start up for during the transit too and from rather than on the range. I explained it poorly but I meant it felt strange not having something tuned in on the front.

Hi @Reflected, just finished a random mission (sortie 7) following your recent update and it is so SO awesome! Really immersive and different from the other times I have flown it. I have already flown this campaign multiple times but now with this I can see me doing it weekly! The combination of this and speed and angels and my ability in the Tomcat has increased in leaps and bounds! The only small tweak I would maybe suggest is in the blurb somewhere suggesting which radios the front seat should use now Jester does the Lionshare. It's not a huge thing but to and from the range I felt like I should be on something like guard or TAC even if no comms ever come up, just to give the immersion another step. Anyway a huge thank you! You continue to raise the bar. Ps. I hope your leg is better.

Hey @eLgargantuan did you do a quick start up or full one? At the start the ship turns, If Jester starts the alignment during the turn it will whack out the alignment. If you do a full start up or wait till the turn is finished then you will find mother at the end.
