V for Victory Mosquito Campaign Info
Indianajon replied to Reflected's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI - V for Victory Campaign
Well after a hiatus not off my making I finally finished the campaign today. Lovely audio touch at the end by the way. This was phenomenal! I learnt lots about myself as well as being even more in awe of the guys who did this for real. I found my strengths were high level, Oboe, photo recon etc and definitely not low level strafing where I hot clipped every time! Thanks again Reflected for all you do. This was unlike any other campaign I've played to date. -
Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update May 18th 2023
Indianajon replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I know it's totally unscientific and potentially unpopular but who else feels that after a few dozen cat shots the increased aoa feels fairly good now and not as scary and huge an issue it felt on launch? Anyone? Or is it just me? -
The closest thing to this I have had was a glitch in the animation where the deck crew stopped signalling and then weren't reacting to anything (spool up, saluting etc). I went into idle then full throttle again and there was a slight move. Im guessing a misalignment or something with the shuttle. After that they launched. Only happened once though and have been unable to repeat. Just as a quick addenda, this event occurred after the most recent patch.

Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update May 18th 2023
Indianajon replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hey @SparrowLT what is your load out/ airframe model? Ive not had this issue so i am wondering if you are potentially overstressing yourself? In the A model you generally want full afterburner although if you are fairly clean you can drop to zone 2. In the B model you want it in mil power only. hope this helps and good luck with it. -

Me also. Does seem excessive although maybe it's just because of what we have got used too. -
Feedback Thread F-14 Tomcat - Update May 18th 2023
Indianajon replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I for one am really enjoying the new update and think it adds more than I was expecting. I need more work on speed when taxiing, even when only using one engine but I haven't had the brake issues mentioned above. One thing I have noticed, and it might be all in my head, but taking off from a traditional runway feels less 'jerky' with a smoother rotation and less oscillation in the nose. Can't say I have heard the DLC employment but my wife says I'm pretty deaf so that's probably more me and I have always just checked in the mirrors anyway. -
That's perfect thanks @peachmonkey

Recently during a low level sortie in the excelllent V for Victory campaign I had my hydraulics shot out. On return to base I was able to drop the gear but not lock it. I tried shaking the aircraft and a few other odds a sods but to no avail. Unsurprisingly on touching down it collapsed and I came to an embarrassing stop in a shower of sparks. So my question is if there is an emergency way of locking the gear down such as in the Tomcat? I have had a brief look through the manual but couldn't find anything obvious. Thanks I'm advance.

First off this map is phenomenal and I don't know how you managed to optimise performance but its silky smooth so well done to the team. This is going to be one of my new top maps. I was wondering if you could look at doing the South Kensington landmarks. Natural History Museum, V&A, the Albert Hall etc.

Hi @IronMike, I know its been brought up before but i wonder if there is any news on a revised wake for the Forrestal? I love the model and enjoy landing on it but i have realised recently how much i depend on the wake for line up. Ta

I'm trying to create a very basic BVR practice mission for myself and friends but am having a few issues and wonder if anyone can help. The plan is you start on an intercept against enemy A then I have it scripted so that when he dies enemy B spawns so that you can then do another BVR intercept. When B dies C spawns and so far all this works fine. The plan is that when C dies A respawns and the cycle begins again but this I can't seem to get working. My idea was maybe to create an enemy D in the same location as A and then add an additional trigger to spawn B and then hopefully the cycle would work but the aircraft won't respawn once shot down the first time. Is there anyway I can achieve this? Ta.

Question on night ops
Indianajon replied to Indianajon's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI - V for Victory Campaign
Sorry I meant the ID lamp and thanks for the confirmation. -
Hey @Reflected, thanks for another ace campaign! I'm really enjoying it and have just done my bit for the Amiens raid. I've learnt I'm much more at home in the tomcat but loving the challenge this brings! Quick, probably stupid question, but have got myself confused thinking about it. With regards to the resin ID lamp on the underside of the aircraft, do you have it turned on constantly whilst over friendly territory or only with you morse the nights code? I assume you keep it on so ground forces can see you, the fact you turn it on after the green flare on take off makes me think you would. Talking to friends though and they think you wouldn't as its asking for trouble and would give the colour away to the enemy. Which is it? Thanks

Worked fine for me and felt like it added lots being able to label the presets. Did independence day and had no issues with FM. I did select the arc210 before talking on uhf and vhf but no idea if I needed too.

Mission 16. Everyone is having too much fun to leave.
Indianajon replied to Indianajon's topic in Bugs and Problems
Personally I have decided that @Reflectedis a fecking genius and made this bug on purpose to wait for ED to catch up. After the last update I gave it another try and can confirm its working. This I would like to point out was also the first thing I tried after the multithreading addition..... A mass tomcat formation over a busy Nellis with fireworks and cheering crowds! If ever dcs had a wow moment and was shown off at its best that was it. One hell of a finale! Thanks for an amazing campaign! -
If it happens push the throttle forward a little then push the start again. Should get it cranking.

Hey @Reflected. At the start of mission 16 I can't seem to get people to leave mother. I have tried a few times and have tried waiting for 20mins after alignment and taking off and trying to kick things going that way. All starts great and flows well till after the cat 2 shot. Then 210 who starts next to me doesn't move into the shuttle. Over on the other side of the boat near cats 3 & 4, 204 is manned but don't think engines are on and a second aircraft that starts opposite me, also marked 210 taxis as if heading to either 3 or 4 but is blocked by 204. I don't have any mods installed and not had any other issues through the campaign. Any suggestions? -
Hey @Reflected, taking a kneeboard from the rag and one from the fleet the main confusion for me is; RDR chan & search. I assume its something to do with radar channels? Who is search which blocks etc? Then it's the tac admin and avionics boxes which i get bits but a breakdownwould be great. In the fleet the ones I have questions on are MSL/SCH. Again are these the rio radar search blocks etc? FFDL and the ALE 39 breakdown. At first I thought it was maybe counter measures but doesn't make sense in my mind. Lastly (and I assume there is a reason) why is the BRC not included but wind speed and direction is given there is a set time for recovery etc. I assume its to give the freedom to the boat and we just dial in the boats direction while in the stack. Flying zip lipped is definitely a new challenge buy I'm really enjoying it! Thanks.

Hey @Reflected I'm having a great time out with the fleet and haven't disgraced myself too much so far. i was wondering, if you haven't already, could you or Paco or anyone really go through the summary kneeboard page and explain what the various columns mean. I think i understand the majority of it such as the fuel ladder, the top chunk etc and i know some of the info doesn't make a difference to the game but i wonder if I'm missing anything that might help fly the sortie better? I thought similar during the rag section but as the brief was generally larger I was so focused on that it didn't seem quite as important.

Question about Refueling and Formation
Indianajon replied to KeithDouglass's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Hi @KeithDouglass, I don't use any curves but one trick I picked up for refuelling from Mooch in one of his vids is to just tap the wings back to 30 degrees. This has the effect of dropping the tips slightly in relation to your aircraft and gets them out of the wake disturbance. It might be part psychological but I find it helps. Otherwise as suggested above just take your time. Get set up and trimmed flying formation, slow and steady, then after you have relaxed a bit ease it in for the plug. Good luck with it. I really struggled at the start and even now if I get tense I find it a faff to hit the basket but you will get there. Its just a case of practice. -
Let's see your grade sheets!
Indianajon replied to Reflected's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Thanks @Reflected it really has been the most fun, enjoyable and hardest thing I have done in dcs! I will be honest the qual scores are my estimates as i didnt catch what it said but in me defence. The case 1 was an ok 3 wire with no comments provided and i reckon would have scored around 70 on Banklers trainer. The case 3 was an OK 3 again but i cut power in the wires as I knew the trap had happened and I was just relieved so didn't boot it. The cq's were the one thing I felt fairly confident about as along with refuelling it's the one thing I have been practicing since the release. I've read the brief for my first Mission and hyped and ready. Zipped lip recoveries is going to be a new experience though. I'm trying to make sure I keep my head in the game and not focus too much on that before I need too. I do feel ready though. -
Let's see your grade sheets!
Indianajon replied to Reflected's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
OK, I'm done and here we go. I feel slightly robbed by the below in run 2 of the 4v4 as I was launching a fox 1 on the merge that connected but didn't count. Then took a while to get a second shot in and penalised for it. That said I understand the system and overall I'm really chuffed. The only sortie I flew twice was the unsat to get a regrade. This has been amazing and my flying style and skills have definitely improved in the process. Now to see if I can survive the cruise! -

Indianajon replied to Reflected's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Well, sortie 7 under my belt and desperately clinging on to a 3.03 grade average but it's definitely getting crazy hard! Something tells me I won't be getting any above's in the 4v4, but if I can squeak through on average then I'll be more than happy! Certainly no where near the top of the class! i think it's safe to say @1Batz has to be the golden child and gets the trophy! But if I graduate I'll be happy!
