  1. It looks good for me too. One thing only: If you delay your buy 2-3 months (for whatever reason), I´ll wait for the next gen CPU and GPUs on 4th quarter. Next gen PCs will carry a decent upgrade in my opinion, but you don´t need to wait if you are ready to play now on flat screen.
  2. I´ll will go the 32 Gb + 3080 route if you find good prices. Maybe you are running out of power from that PSU.... Maybe. But if you plan to change the PSU too: keep in mind that next gen GPU and CPUs are near and (in that case) you better wait, save money and build a new and fresh Pc from scratch at the end of the year.
  3. For me they are solid choices if you can keep that 1.500 $ budget (it won´t be easy) A 1Tb SSD would be preferable too. My bet would be a 5600X or a 5900X but 5800X it´s fine too (choice based on availability)
  4. Resaizable Bar may have a benefit on DCS if implented. But I think it needs Developer implementation.
  5. Yes: 3080 and 10 Gb on DCS and G2 may not be future proof. The 3090 bet may be safer (althought freaking expensive). Many People would buy a 3080 10 Gb and replace it on the next gen Nvidia refresh too. (Not a bad move).
  6. GPU market is a nightmare right now. (In theory) the Nvidia 3070s should be less than those 600 €, but I wish you luck finding one. Same for the AMD 6800. Newer cards will be announced in mid Jaunary on the CES show. I won´t buy a 2070S at this point in time.
  7. In some Interviews it was said that the multiCPU engine will be introduced sometime between end of 2020 or starting 2021. If that holds true at this time, I don´t know. (But you have seen those clouds in the recent vids, Isn´t it?) If you can afford a 5900X go for it right now. If not: a 5600X or Intel 10700K / 10900K are the better alternatives right now (Of course there will be better Intel CPUs in a short? timeframe).
  8. When we left Christmas behind, I think you can build a combination of Z490 + Intel overclockable 10600K or (maybe) a B550 + 5600X (That one includes cooler) combo whithin that budget of 1.000 € 32 Gb kit, and a reasonable PSU + Cage. The problem there is the GPU (I will try to find a second hand one over 200 € and skip this generation and save money to the next one). (A 1080TI will be great for 200 €) It will be a very powerfull machine if those components fall onto your budget in late Jaunary. And I think it could be posible. You could even try VR if you find a reasonable second hand 1080TI
  9. Right! The problem now is the upcoming multicore DCS engine and the way it will affect the Intel vs AMD side of things. If money is no object I will go AMD now (because of less power consumption), but a good I9 10900K will have similar performance right now I think. (Future is unknown).
  10. Awsome rig!, but..... WiFi 6 instead of 6e? You should try that 6e or thinking on a future upgrade on that if finding a hard way getting one right now (The Intel MoBos and ultrabooks allready have one of those, so: is mainstream now and inproves greatly over WiFi 6) (If wavelenght is allowed for use in your area).
  11. We could end up in an scenario where both cards perform very similar when Drivers gets up to date in a couple of months and those are very good news from the buyer perspective. AMD doing well in Vr: Great to know!
  12. 12 yrs since your surgery...... well, at that time you will have been lucky to get a Lasyk surgery (and not at today level). Man: it depend a lot over many things (refraction before surgery, cornea thikness, technique used, etc). Imposible to recomend nothing without seeing the problem in person, and, maybe, your actual problem is different than before. But I see many times people buying bigger monitors, phones, 8K, etc and trying to improve their visuals without paying attention over the main problem: their eyes. Not to mention risking their eyes with dangerous surgerys: Have you seen any Ophthalmologist with their own laser applied?.... No one does that. And, then, there is the other side of the coin with many people: If I could improve their visual after their intervention: they just don´t want to accept the fact that they failed with their decision and do nothing but thinking on another solution based on surgery..... Be careful, you just have 2 eyes.
  13. I was permanently banned too.... few! Thanks I found this thread without logging in.
  14. CPU: Go for a 5600X (and stick with the integrated cooler) Memory: look for CL 14 2x16 modules (or even 4x 8 Gb kits) VR Headset?, because it will determine your GPU a lot.
  15. I´m with you here: Being an early adopter is not always a good idea. I know this time could be different, but only time can tell you that. If this time we could jump on AM5..... But not untill Zen 4 Things will start to heat up with Rocket lake, but that will be nearing March 21.....
  16. That´s very subjective: most people will tell you (when final G2 units arrives at their hands) that they can read fine all the gauges with a G2 but, of course, you will be better served with a 4K panel per eye and 130º horizontal FOV (but XTAL is not a consumer product and Pimax 8Kx....) Anyway, most of the people with Lasik surgery are not getting 20/20 clear vision because of aberrations, glare, not perfect refraction free vision or a mix of them. (And I´m saying most of the people, not all of them. And I´m Optometrist, I know what I´m saying because I see it many times). So: You will have to try yourself.
  17. By the way: can´t stop laughing seeing these two meme videos AMD vs Nvidia: youtu.be/hOC-lSVlF9s https://youtu.be/NIug2P-i0gE LOL
  18. Maybe Nvidia delayed their 3000 series 8 nm wafers with Samsung to bring a little improved parts in early 2021. I will wait 2-3 months untill the dust settle down a little (maturity of hardware, drivers, avalability, etc) AMD is showing stronger than expected though.
  19. Specially in VR.... Hmmmm.... Difficult question to answer. Many reviews will come just to compare on flat screen. (And there is the next Vulkan thing too)..... Developers were strugling with AMD Vulkan drivers in the past, but things may be different now? Too many doubts right now. But Nvidia is in trouble in the future because AMD will be executing on 5 nm at fall 2021 and Nvidia could be behind that timeframe (maybe). AMD will be using a DP 2.0 or 1.4 as Nvidia 3000 series? What about Ray tracing performance?, and what about de equivalent AMD DLSS 2.1 for VR? Foveated rendering?.... (One thing for sure: right now the Nvidia drivers are more optimized for VR than the ones at AMD. And maybe they are one year ahead in that departament). Availavility? (That may be a vital factor). And when things starts to clarify a bit starting next year we may have Intel too..... O_O TSMC fabs won´t be enought to keep up with so many wafers. The wilderness await us.
  20. Yes: Two months use to be enought to disclose driver patches, hardware failures, aviability, etc. No rush.
  21. Remember that, now, every new headset that intend to enter the market will have to take into account the Quest 2 price. It won´t be easy to any company trying to enter the market now. But this company won´t be able to manofacture in such great volume to acomplish that intended price in my opinion. Will see.
  22. Have you tried the new updated Link feature of 500 Mb/sg.? People says it offer very good quality (on static image almost indistiguible from a direct DP connection) but not quite as good on fast moving images like DCS. Maybe on a future Quest 3 with USB 4/Thunderbolt it will be just as good. And see this: https://www.roadtovr.com/decagear-vr-headset-megadodo-simulation-games/ It´s not standalone though. But seems promising if it´s not a fraud. (Seems what a future HP Reverb G3 should be).
  23. Revamped CPU engine: it´s rumored to come in a few months and it´s different to the Vulkan upgrade (in fact Vulkan will do nothing without the much needed multi CPU upgrade in my opinion). Many draw calls start from the CPU and the game is allraedy CPU bound, so: to scale graphics (as using VR) is a needed factor. That way you won´t need to quit shadows, etc to achieve the fluid experience and eye candy you are asking here. And, yes: better resolution of the headset implies both increased CPU and GPU workloads on your PC. So: you have a good system right now and waiting for improvements when the multi CPU engine rolls out. You would see benefits there and can start to evaluate the VR path from there. I mean: people are happy downgrading graphics, acepting 45 fps as a tradeoff, etc to allready enjoy the inmersion, but, in my opinion, there is a path from ED to improve things in a big way in 2021. And the Quest 2 and HP reverb G2 will start to shine there as more people can be able to enjoy the experience with a decent Pc that is not that much on the high side. (Specially with the Quest 2 starting price). But if you want the best experience: The HP G2 and its cable will do the better job (of the two mainstream headsets). Alltough any of them will be fine. Also: VR is in it´s infancy and things can change quikly. (You can expect a Quest 3 or HP G3 in a couple of years or sooner). There are allways things that can be improved (FOV, etc).
  24. For the type of experience you are asking: you better have to wait a little for the CPU revamped DCS engine (maybe early on 2021 or late 2020). That way you can have the eyecandy you are asking for. With your rig you will opt for a cheap headsep like the Quest 2 or a HP G2. Those two will be the most common used headsets in 2021 with very high quality on both of them (with the Quest 2 Link update).
