  1. i reserve the buy on this :) willing to do $400 for everything shipped?
  2. Got an e-mail stating that my Warthog will be shipped the 15th of next month!!! Wow, it's so soon I can't believe it's happen I just need, I want to I reallyAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
  3. It's funny but I'd never have a wife who decided what I could or couldn't do with my finances. Separate finances and a Prenuptial Agreement would come along with the ring.
  4. You've been pining over it since it was announced you nub. 'course he bot it :joystick:
  5. Ooh. I don't know if I'll order quite yet though. Definitely have the money, just don't know how fast these guys are with their shipping. edit: Found out they had an office in Southern California. I bit the bullet too. :D
  6. Thrustmaster, if you don't have a pre-order page up soon I'm going to pre-order it straight from your factory...by smashing through your windows. Not really, but I hope they have one up soon because all this money in my bank account I've saved for the Warthog is really asking to be spent :)
  7. Right. Let's talk about the Warthog, shall we? If at all possible, I would prefer any discussion of the brand or flavor of coffee I consume not be a staple of the discussion we're having here. If that is beyond your means and you don't have any more proactive comments to add to this thread there's always the option of not responding.
  8. Is this a joke? Seriously? Pardon me for sounding a bit crass. You're being, like a great deal of the people replying in this thread are, utterly ridiculous. Listen to reason, man! The fact is, it's all mere speculation right now aside from the literally glowing statements made by Wags and the other few that have had the opportunity to get their hands on this HOTAS. Without knowing anything real facts about the HOTAS itself, a great number of you have managed to effectively craft arguments ranging from "I could buy a real airplane for that kind of money!" to "I didn't like the Cougar so this one obviously couldn't be any different". Do you give any thought to what you're saying before you post these types of things? I, like most of you, have been burned multiple times when it comes to purchasing a HOTAS setup by the various manufacturers on the market. I have had an X52 all the way to a G940. A $550 investment that isn't the quality I would expect from a HOTAS with a price tag would no doubt hurt. Bad. Yet, I won't hide the fact that I'm excited for this stick. I am excited. What I will say is the arguments that I've seen downplaying the release of this HOTAS are utterly nonsensical. If it is true that "Wags" has a business relationship with Thrustmaster (which could be likely, however I'm not aware of any such relationship) then I wouldn't have a problem seeing something supporting this. But regarding your earlier statement of: Of COURSE it's up to the consumer to decide. Who said otherwise? Lest you've forgotten, reviewers are entitled to their opinions. There's no purpose whatsoever in quoting any reviewer if you're just going to slap a "it's up to the consumer to decide" onto their statements. Really? How about this. You say it's not worth $550. I would like to know how long you've used the HOTAS Warthog. Before you dig your heels in and start the age old argument of your various opinions on "value" and the like, answer this question without the use of any opinions, whatsoever. Stick to the few facts you have, please. I would also like you to know, "ultimately, it will be up to the consumer to decide what it is or isn't worth". Let's cover what little facts we have, here. [*]Expensive - WE KNOW THIS. Everybody who has a pair of eyes and a brain to process this can see that the HOTAS Warthog. will. not. be. cheap. Thanks for pointing this out for the 200th time. Nothing new is being presented by saying it the 201st time. One could argue, that good things cost money. [*]Multiple Months Away From Release - This. We do not know anything aside from a few brief statements from various people who have had the opportunity to give this HOTAS some stick time. Where one could argue that good things cost money, one could also argue that we know very little about it so it could just be a hunk of metal that well...costs money. We do not know. [*]Quality Relatively Unknown - As many arguments as there are on the price of the HOTAS Warthog, there are also arguments of the quality. This is one of the arguments I feel is indeed worth discussion. As opposed to people's tired discussions of the electricity bills they forgot to pay last year, or the dentist appointment they've been meaning to schedule that would prevent them from buying Thrustmaster's latest development, this one really gets to the point of these discussions. How long is this stick meant to last? Is the craftsmanship of the HOTAS Warthog quality? Does the throttle stick? How comfortable does it feel using the idle detent? It's all speculation at this point, and I hope that this post has made the relatively small number of you with their wits about them, consider this. Wha? It's still there.
  9. Not missing per se, but what do you have...which is a few more kgs of brain matter. The only people that are complaining about price in this thread are people who aren't interested in dedicating a decent amount of money from their wallet for decent gear. No matter what the excuse, the end result is the same: "I won't pay 399 euros for _______" Insert excuses as needed. If the stick is bad, I will return it. If it isn't, I will accept the price tag for what it is and enjoy my new, shiny, high quality piece of hardware.
  10. Where the HELL do I pre-order this thing? Seriously, I just got my return check from my G940 in the mail TODAY and saw that e-bay link when it was still alive.... So, uh, where can I pre-order?
  11. I've been waiting for information on these two for what's seemed like ages! Woooohooooo!
  12. Did you spend thousands, if not millions on it? Military clients have to. This whole discussion is pointless. Military clients differ HIGHLY from consumers. They have a budget in the thousands or millions and have people's _lives_ in their hands. Some YouTube video (with all due respect at all the creative souls out there putting their work into the public domain) isn't going to sway their decision anywhere near the amount a proper technical brief of the software would. Case closed.
  13. People (including myself) generally don't post when they are enjoying the game, they post when they aren't. That's why I have so few posts. I. Love. Black Shark.
  14. DON'T DO THIS. It's faster but your video will end up looking choppy unless you have a PC from the year 2012 and won't be enjoyable to watch because of this. The Avi Recorder included in the DCS engine (which FC2 uses) is broken as it stands, but I'd be happy to PM you a quick tutorial on how to get it working properly. I hope to put up a tutorial soon so everyone can use this great tool ED has included.
  15. I notice whenever I set the resolution of the included avi record feature in the editor it breaks the .ogv output video. This only occurs with the resolution tool, no other option breaks the output video except for this. I _need_ to know whether there is some fix I don't know about for this (I already tried editing the record_avi.lua resolution lines in Ka-50\BlackShark\modules directory)? Is there perhaps some way to change the output codec? edit: Cool. Looks like the ever-smart ED team included a commented out an ability to directly output raw .avi files. That's getting close to what I'm looking for - however the files are quite large. How does the record avi feature handle codecs? Is there any way I could use a .dll from another codec to encode with?

    Crash

It's funny how far a simple response goes in making a guy feel cared about  It may be an issue with my system that's caused this crash - however the resolution bug is most definitely a game bug. I'll do some more investigation on this and report back my findings. Either I changed something and it broke the HMS or I didn't - but reinstalling fixed it so I couldn't diagnose it now if I wanted to.

    Crash

Thanks for the response. I really do hope the ED team decides to take a look at it; nothing ruins the atmosphere of a good game than lots of tiny tiny bugs. First the crash, then my helmet mounted sight decided to disappear (i didn't modify any files, thank you.), THEN finding out you aren't able to edit the resolution of the avi record feature without it breaking the .ogv file the game puts out.
  18. Me too - I'm new to mission building and have also been curious about this.
  19. There's a difference between a workaround, and a fix. This is not a fix.
  20. I'm having a very hard time reviewing the debriefings I've saved. Is there any way to view the .log files the game saves the debriefings in that isn't a mishmash of unreadable gibberish?
  21. Let's help ED out by posting bugs we find are able to be reproduced: Encountered: I encountered this bug when attempting record an AVI file from a track. Reproduced by: Completely erasing the "Width" portion of the "Resolution" field. A similar error also occurs when completely erasing the "Height" portion of the "Resolution" field. Error: ..\blackshark\modules\record_avi.lua:338: attempt to compare number with nil Stack traceback: ->stack: ..\blackshark\modules\record_avi.lua in line 338 in func: func ->stack: ..\luagui5\Widget.lua in line 266 in func: ->stack: .\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua in line 751 in func:
  22. Nope. I reinstalled and it came back - I would still like to know what caused this, however. :noexpression:
