I entirely disagree with what you say here. My comment was not offensive in the least; simply, advice to reap maximum benefit from the game. Whilst it may not be a scientific fact that game mode is significantly less enjoyable than sim mode, the vast majority of DCS players would agree that it is a waste of time. Game mode seems at first glance, to be a light way into the sim. In truth it is not, as it is so far displaced from simulation mode that it teaches nothing. I think if anything, people advising him of that was for his own benefit rather than their own elitism. To the OP - you won't need a HOTAS for learning the basics in sim mode! I learnt most of the game on a Cyborg Evo!

omg, if they hadn't have moved he would've killed them...and himself...What an absolute idiot...They won't let people with less than perfect eyesight fly, but apparently being a total ******* idiot is fine.

Hi guys, I have a load of hours clocked on the game but until now hadn't tried the campaing. On the first one, of the first campaign, the mission is to stop the advance of loads of tanks. my first question is, JTAC call the direction then, then, maybe 12 tanks later, tell me target not destroyed. I mean, there's close air support and there's winning the war for them..They seem to expect the latter?! Secondly, is there any idle chatter like in DCS:BS? That game had some good effects for the guys on the ground talking, and even wingman chatting (like the first mission where you fly a familiarisation) Is that present at all in A10? Cheers

Great to hear you're enjoying it but...turn game mode off!! Otherwise you will pick up bad habits :)

Cheers Sobek :) I just ran the test again and um...The temps are down by 10oC....Maybe that stuff I've read about thermal paste taking a few hours to work properly is true........

Hey there, It's not a stock fan but it's roughly the same size, using crappy pre applied paste. I'm sure it's attached properly though as I took the motherboard out to attach it. With my old HSF it wouldnt go above 51oC so it's a huge huge jump. I think to be honest I need to buy a new motherboard which has the space to equip a decent HSF. Still, if it's staying below about 55 on games that suggests its not going to cause damage I think?

Hey all, final question I promise. this is bothering me! Basically I switched out my old CPU heatsink which was considerably larger than this one. With the old one I couldnt fit all my ram in, with this one I can. I also have added 2 new fans to the case, so airflow is much better, but this is what's weird. During games (eg the witcher 2, and DCS A10) my CPU and video card are very very cool, cooler than before....Yet on benchmarking (furmark and prime95) their temperature is crazy. For example my CPU hit 76oC after half an hour of Prime95 - thats a crazy temp for a stock I5 isnt it?? Is this something to worry about, or should I just relax? No game has taken my CPU above 60oC, but the Prime95 temp has me concerned...

Hey guys - thought things went well but they didnt! Got some more fans in the PC and they are awfully loud, i can deal with that..I swapped my cpu fan for a new one as the old one could only have one slot of ram...Now, with PRime 95 and no overclock the CPU is getting 76oC...Seems crazily hot...It seems to be mounted correctly. I think I need a new MOBO so i can fit a decent CPU fan on there. Can anyone recommend a nice spatious motherboard that doesnt have ram slots within an inch of the CPU? Cheers

Hey guys, cheers for the help! Bought a new PSU....Also ordered some fans, though I've got no fan ports...Am pretty much going to have to glue them in.................
-
Cheers for the reply Sobek :) I pulled the rig apart and ran it with just the PSU - it's definitely the part making the noise. If I posted voltages etc would you be able to tell me if it's healthy, or should I take it to a hardware forum? Cheers :)

Hey guys, Having a weird issue. As of this morning my PC (PSU I am 99% sure) has been imitting a strange high pitched whine. I thought it may be the fan to stopped each fan independently and it's still doing it. I've noticed the whine changes pitch when I open internet browsers, stress the CPU etc...It also fluctuates in pitch...I presume this is sounding the end of my PSUs 3 year life.....Odd as it's a 700Watt PSU and has never been particularly stressed... Anyway, I'm hoping it holds out for 2 weeks so I can get an entirely new case and PSU. Is there a way to diagnose if this will damage my components? Anyone had this issue before?

Shu77 - Thanks very much but I see you're based in Australia. Literally other side of the world...My ping would be crazy! Tyger - Would absolutely love to join you. Will you be flying tomorrow evening GMT?

There is only one thing this game is missing.... FULL DX11 RENDERED BIRD GUTS AND BLOOD EFFECTS ON THE CANOPY! Then I'll be happy.

Hi all, I've been unable to get TARS working for a long time now, but an desperate to start flying multiplayer. Are there any squadrons that fly regularly but only use TS/Ventrilo without the TARS addon activated? I hope so!

Thank you for all the responses guys, very interesting reading and I am now understanding the limitations in a more practical way :) +rep to all! Thanks
-
I agree. Unless you're really strapped for cash, even if it's a year before you come back (to what will be an entirely new product what with new compatibility) it'll be worth owning!

Hi, I've tried to find something on youtube and have tried the manual, but can't find out how to reload a store. For example when you change weapons on the ground, it'll say GBU-38 DETECTED, and I'll select a GBU-38 and then load it, but it'll stay red?! What is causing this? I followed the hung store approach but that wont work :/ Thanks

Thanks for explaining that to me. So, we've kind've hit a point where the MHZ(ghz) aren't raising too quickly, and a point where the algorithms are limiting what we can do...So has Moores law ceased to function? What is the future for processors? I have a friend that studies Computer Science here in the UK that told me graphics cards are now being used to process "proteins and DNA" or some such thing..Apparently they're more efficient. Unfortunately I don't know how so!

I was 4. Bit lost on me!
-
Can that be explained in layman's terms?
-
Is that was true then why is FSX dead and many more realistic simulators are still doing fine?
-
Regarding that top link...Wtf? That looks photo realistic....Surely no mere mortal PC can run that?
-
That wasn't at you Tyger, it was at Herburn in regards to this: @bengo - Thrustmaster Warthog with default curves. The zero dead zone makes this a bit more straight forward, but it's still difficult. I can't imagine doing this with the x52 though... Btw, I see you're in PWRR - Still in? I served in 2pwrr a few years ago :-)
