if you have the skills to make a cool COOL F-16 U.S LIVERY, please create new one then  post it here,
I would recommend it best aritst like Rougmaster.

I will send an email to Wags (replace my slots)

    List of U.S F-16s

    -Generic Weathering,
    -Dynamic Bort
    -.dds
    -Upload User Files section
    -------------------------------
157th Fighter Squadron with and without HAVE GLASS V
80th Fighter with and without HAVE GLASS
    510th Fighter Squadron

Like the "ouky1991" Apache skin, ED  will pick it up  best livery at any time.

Again, I am offering my Egyptian F-16, if ED is interested I will add the dynamic bort numbers to it.

    Hello all,
So, it appears a lot of us missed the initial call to submit. Not sure what the distribution for that message was initially. I never saw it until after the decision was made (I don't spend a lot of time in the forums). I did note Wags' apology for not checking the user files before the decision. The clarity of the initial message read fairly vague. I would suggest a path forward for such endeavors should include expectation management and left/right limits. Something like:

Default Template Usage Required: Yes / No
Default Textures Required. (Not creating new engines, pylons, fuel tanks or anything not included in the default template)
    F-16C Block 50 c. 2007 (or listed timeframe) only: Yes / No
    Dynamic bort number requirement.
Maximum zipped file size allowed. (If different from the 300mb UF restriction)
    Allowed compression type. (BC7 etc)
File type required: (Zip / rar etc)
I am also of the opinion that the default liveries should be held to a higher standard.

I'm sure there is more stringent stuff there, but that would be a recommended baseline. Something I learned in the military is that instructions must be written for the absolute lowest level. Meaning, the people that need the most direction and step-by-step instructions. Just a suggestion.

    ***Soap Box time***
I want to address a few things starting with the attitude of "it's just gotta be good enough because details don't matter". If I may add my 2 cents here, I think that is a dangerous attitude to have as a livery creator. If I were going to combat in these jets, I wouldn't care, because I cannot look outside of my cockpit other than stepping to the jet. In DCS however, things like screenshots, external cameras, video creation, and other things exist. In that case, details do matter. Not to make this a "yay me" post, but I have spent over 20 years in the military with the majority of those working in/around/and with all of these aircraft, with the last 7 in the fighter community, I may have a somewhat informed baseline of how things look, feel, smell, etc. I think it's awesome the level of detail some creators put into it. When I show fighter pilots DCS the ones who are into it will immediately start saying things like "Oh, they got that right/that's missing" or "They always had dirt here", "that color isn't quite right", "they were never that dirty/that's a clean jet" or other small details like that. Their external camera was walking on the flightline every day and stepping to their respective aircraft.

I would also like to address download count. Download count does not mean quality. I just looked at my own user files list and my worst-quality skins have the most downloads (Including the most downloads of a certain airframe). This was due to either it being some of the first liveries available for a module, a fortunate position on the UF page, being released for a long time, or updates pushing them to the top of the list under the old UF structure. My best, highest-quality, liveries are at the bottom of my download counts for the same reasons. We all know now that great liveries can get buried under 30 spammed "shake n' baked" out liveries in the UF pages, which is fine. There is a large element of "right place, right time".

Lastly, I'd like to remind us livery creators why we are here. It shouldn't be for personal glory or ego. We are here to let people live out their dreams of being a fighter/attack/cargo/rotary/warbird etc. pilot/aviator which they may have not been able in real life. We owe it to them to do our best job possible, fully knowing that we will not get compensated with anything more than some recognition or admiration and also fully knowing that the rivet counters of the world will call out our shortcomings. Lest we forget that many of these aircraft are gone forever, or in the case of Marine Hornets and Harriers, soon to be gone forever. Maybe I am a little sentimental, but it's nice to see some of these aircraft preserved if only digitally. They can't all go to museums. We should have the same dedication to the jets that defended and served our respective nations. (Yes, I understand this is a video game). Paint your best jet.

I hope this is viewed as an azimuth check for all of us in this thread/community and not as slinging mud or personal insults. This was intended as suggestions and some constructive criticism. Thank you for your time.

    Incredibly well said. 👍

  3. Hello all, Since ED has updated the textures for the flanker, I do not recommend using my RMs with them since they sacrificed quite a bit of visual fidelity in order to give the depth effect present in normals which is no longer necessary, however I do still recommend you keep them for the Su-25 since ED has not updated it's textures

  4. While I appreciate Leehy reaching out to Roughmaster and I am sure that Rough will absolutely more then deliver on the european liveries, I am still a bit disappointed with the choice for the rest of the liveries. I have redone my Egyptian F-16 4 times since I started learning livery making three years ago, and so I hope you can understand it was a bit shorthanded to then pick someone else to do this livery for inclusion ingame.

Very nice work, really looking forward to try it out, both this one and the upcoming from the developers!

One thing though, I think the underside should be aluminium and not light grey for this particular skin?

I asked about this some time ago:

you are probably right, I think it's silver paint. but RN the focus isn't on the livery so much as it is on the textures in general.

    Hello everyone
I have already seen that for a while the JF17 bombs have been having problems. a first patch announced that they were repaired and that only SFW posed problems.
It seems that the LS 6s are still buggy.
After several tries I still have a vast majority that go completely wrong.

Attached is the .TRK of an outing 5 minutes ago where 2 LS-6 500 fired in TOO go anywhere.

Can we have some info about a general fix about those weapons ?

Thx for all and fly safe !

did you have HNS turned on?

  7. Hello all, The Mirage F1 is one of the cold war modules I fly the most, however I had an issue with the textures as I felt that they were too flat and pixelated. thus I took it upon myself to redo the textures as best I can. this is still very WIP but the list of improvements and work left to do can be seen below. in the meantime here are a few WIP images.

This work is done in a more general fashion then my usual liveries in the hopes that I can provide a template in the end for users to create their own liveries with the new textures, the camos and the lines are the same from the original template provided by Aergas but heavily modified, while the labels have not been modified.

    Enjoy~

    List of Improvements:

    • Entirely New Roughmets to give the aircraft depth and detail
    • Entirely New Normal maps (possibly in 8k if storage space permits) to remove the pixelated lines and add, depth detail and realism
    • Entirely New Weathering which includes oil leaks, panel wear, and paint wear integrated with the Roughmet
    • Heavily modified Panels and rivets to remove the pixels around the panels and reduce the strength to something that is more comparable to real life

List of WIP items that need to be completed:

    • Removal of seams and other errors
    • Underside weathering
    • Horizantal stab. weathering + RMs
    • Improve normals, especially on the fuselage
    • Apply changes to other variants (EE, BE)

The recent locking of some assets was not done to "disrespect" anyone, but rather limit the theft of assets that we create which has become more prevalent these days, sadly using the same tools and accesses that livery creators use. I

I am not sure about ED's position as a company, or the rest of the community's opinion. However in my humble opinion custom liveries are an essential part of this game and locking them out for any reason is not a good idea. I know there were quite a few people who were excited to make liveries for the newly released models only to then be disapointed with the reality. if this is the future from now on then I'd be very disappointed in ED.

(I think that sometimes we as a community can be too hard on ED, however this time I think the criticism is fair, and while the wording may be harsh, I think that is coming from the language barrier present rather then any malicious intent)

I think in the future having an avenue of communication with the skinning community (weather that be through the Livery Art Group Discord or some other forum such as a channel on the official discord) would allow ED to incorporate the best of what people are creating for this game, while acknowledging the effort put in to such work.

  9. Agreed, the encryption of the recent AI model enhancements and the decisions of liveries included in game, while excluding others is very discouraging to some of the people who put in dozens, if not hundreds of hours of work into making this game more enjoyable for all of us. I hope ED can consider at the very least adding liveries that are created in excellent quality from users such as Texac, Roughmaster, and Crash among others.

    What are these events?

Among others, not including roughmets in the B-17 competition, excluding excellent creators from inclusion in the game, encrypting the models which were recently released, issues in the templates and textures. ignoring requests for normals on older models.

Recently picked up the Persian Gulf map to go with my Super Carrier and other planned purchases like the F18/14. For now though, I have spent a lot of time just exploring the map low and slow in the CEII and Yak52. A really great map with tons of interesting topography/water. And its easy to tell that ED has made a pretty good effort at getting a lot of the detail right.

Have also done a little driving around areas like Abu Dhabi and Dubai in a Hummer, and again, pretty decent job. But as far as landmarks go in Dubai at least, I think ED really missed two important ones, the Deira Clock tower, and the mall of the Emirates. I know the PG map is considered feature complete, but common guy's really.... no ski Dubai? I am hoping that this would be seen less as a feature and more of an artistic improvement. If the artists that created the map ever run out of things to do, it would be nice to see one of the most visited malls in Dubai make it on the map.

Agreed, also the JBR area with Ain Dubai, it's a very important region imo especially since it's one of the most visible areas while flying off the coast, the attached image is from the MSFS scenery by inibuilds.

  11. Hello, it just recently came to my attention that Almaza AB just south of Cairo INTL is missing from the Map, along with the aviation museum that accompanies it. It should be in this dirt strip just south of the Cairo INTL

Forget changing to roughmets for now.

From what I’ve seen @Warlord64 has had the best solution for me.

All ED need to do is change to the json file warlord has made and it fixes the supplied Game B-17 and users can make their own spec to suit.

It may not be the perfect end solution but as I said it works for the time frame we have.

While removing the JSON does fix the specular textures, these are still specular, and out of date when compared to the rest of DCS.
