  1. > Has anyone else thought this map has some strange performance issues? Yes but not about the radar for a specific aircraft. It seems that some maps have been designed for high fidelity to reality, while for others we don't get that same level of care being taken. So for example the UAE map is much closer to reality than the NTTR but probably not quite as polished as Sinai. It seems to me that the developers did not have access to a full resolution map of Nevada but used at least 3 different maps to create it which is why trying to recreate a realistic flight plan using the real headings and distances between waypoints around Las Vegas doesn't work perfectly (the distances are way too short), but it is "close enough" that only the nerdiest nerds (like me) are going to notice, and so they don't worry about it much. Of course when we do get a true high fidelity map we can appreciate it so much more and this makes the whole experience much better for everyone including the casuals, and should translate to better sales results.
  2. I know this request is a bit silly, but I still want to try it anyway. I believe it *should* be a simple task of copying files from one location and dropping them somewhere else, but I don't know where to start. It's fine for view in cockpit to still be A-10, but when looking outside I want to see what look like S-3s without actually adding any real S-3s to the map
  3. I think you need some check like: if ABB_NAME==ZU23{ --do something } this suggestion is not based on anything other than that I could not see otherwise how that AAA detection could work... I think the game is not normally attempting to classify targets that precisely, so we're trying here to get it to do something new that it normally would not try. So we need at least one variable to check that we know for certain the game understands. You also should check that ZU23 is definitely a valid ABB_NAME or it will never trigger. EDIT: Your function actually does this, but in a more complex way... I think the best approach is to keep it as simple as possible and go step by step... this additional functionality you're trying to create is good, but it's also very ambitious because nothing in the original LUA file resembles anything like a proper unit detection system beyond checking if it is land, sea, air, or weapon.
  4. OK thanks for these suggestions. I will give them a try. It must be that the defaults have been adjusted for this version because it's now so different. And yes, previously to get the load menu, I had to hold in the OSB and wait, and then press another OSB, but in this newer version (or mine, anyway) it is now always there. Plus no TGP on left MFD and the MAV is now on the left instead of the right, and a few other changes like that. Definitely not what I expected to happen, and no longer matches what is in the manual. It'snot bothering me, but just surprising me because it was a big unexpected change (most especially the MAV switching to the left, which means I have to change my habits now). I appreciate you taking the time to give so much good information and suggestions for what I can try.
  5. After updating DCS World to latest version, the TAD no longer has waypoint lines when starting mission from a warm start. Previously to make the waypoint lines disappear either needed to select LOFF or spend too much time taxiing around on the ground (for some reason). Now they never appear in the first place, even if I do a fresh DTS upload. Also now the LOAD option is always present on the left MFD, where this was not the case before (seems they have removed left TGP option to add this change). I think that makes it too possible to accidentally perform a load operation if we mash the buttons without looking. Anyone know how to fix either of these problems and willing to share the solution?
  6. I agree with you about the difficulties that may lie ahead, and it sounds like this also will be something where Virpil will need to look at their own software as well. Obviously anything where we start messing around with "virtual devices" to make things do more than the original specifications of the hardware protocol intended, we're more likely to experience some problems. My own comments are more aimed at generic USB device issues where it's more related to power drain than software issues. Some of the TM components just have bad wiring because they've tried to make them too cheap. Virpil seems to be a bit more quality in the wiring and soldering. Logitec / Saitek = toys.
  7. I believe this problem may be hardware dependent and could depend on what specific USB devices are connected (and how they identify themselves), your MoBo, RAM, CPU, quality of hubs and cables you use, plus whether the hubs are powered or not, and whether the power to the hub is actually working. I have 20 USB devices currently connected and they're all working fine. 17 of the devices are connected via daisychained T-LINK 7 port powered hubs, and 3 additional devices are plugged directly into the rear USB ports. But I also have a PC that most would regard as "complete overkill", with a 1200w PSU and aggressive home-built cooling system, and I think the very high quality power supply and cooling probably make a big difference in reducing the chance of component failure. Another important thing you should know about is that if you daisychain your hubs, you must power them all independently, and make sure the distance between any individual hub is not more than 3m (cable length). If you nned more extension than that, you need to add additional powered hubs between to make sure no individual length in the chain is more than 3m. If you do this properly, and respect the power demands of doing it, you can connect dozens ofdevices through a single USB port on the back of your PC. If your devices drop out frequently then (in order) it is either that your PSU is not adequate, your MoBo is not adequate, your hubs aren't performing properly (drawing more power than is being supplied to them), circuit problem in a device, USB controller driver is not working properly. For that last one, I have found I get more USB errors on my PC that has home edition of Win10 than I do on the PC with pro edition, so if you only have one PC then upgrading from home to pro *may* result in improvement (or may not). There are a lot of variables affecting USB connections and each system will have its own quirks. You'll normally see more problems with brand name computers than custom built ones, based on my experiences.
  8. Is it possible to do other related things like this? I mean, for example, could I get the wings to render in HUD only view?
  9. Hi ... this problem can happen if you accidentally twist the stick so that it rotates slightly in the base and the pins get temporarily disconnected or temporarily fail. In an extreme case, the pins can get permanently damaged. This is the worst and strangest thing about the decision by TM (and also Virpil) to use PS2 style connectors. These sticks are too big and heavy to be safe with such flimsy connectors that are easily damaged. The sticks also rotate easily in the base when you're in the thick of a battle, and using a stick extension can increase the possibiltiy of that happening. If you feel any unnatural rotation while playing, you should pause the game or let go of the controls, check the collar that connects the stick to the base (or extension) is tight, resume the game and do a test fire. Another possible cause is conflicting mapping. If you are sure it's not the hardware, look in your control settings under the HOTAS category and then check the gun trigger item. You may find more than one hardware item is mapped to be the gun trigger. If so, delete any unwanted mappings.
  10. Good to know, BN880. I would certainly be happy to pay you for repairs if I get into a situation where the repairs are needed.
  11. Hey guys, thanks for replies / comments. Sorry it took so long for me to check in. I've been really busy with a lot of projects. I'm a little confused on the comment from Andrew8604, regarding the 2 PC limit... why would it be necessary to limit to 2 PCs? I mean if you pay for the licenses, I would imagine the only limit ought to be the available bandwidth. And I agree 100% with that comment about wanting a "jerk free" environment. If we want to teach a new player how to use it or have a friendly game with people of equal skill level, it should be possible without having strangers come to troll the players. Also if you want to have some kind of competitive play like a tournament or skills competition, you don't want random people dropping in to mess that up.
  12. haha ... ok, that would probably do something to the view, but it also is going to make it cold and windy inside the plane
  13. Well, a picture is worth 1000 words, so I will spare a lot of detail and just show you what I want to do... top pic is "after" and bottom pic is "before"... and then if somebody can give me tips about how to get started, that would be awesome. If there's some mod like this that already exists, please also tell me that so nobody's time gets wasted on making something that already exists.
