  1. @Comrade DogeThis is one piece of very cool software. Thanks a lot. Makes waypoint-editing sooo much more fun 🙂 (and a lot less painful). I was wondering how you transfer the waypoints into the planes systems. I'm one of the Devs from VSN and your App would come in very handy for our F-4B/C and upcoming standalone Mods for multiplayer use. Right now, we are reading the waypoints from the mission itself. Is there a possibility to read the waypoints from TheWay somehow? It transfer the waypoints somewhere and I guess they do not get set in the mission itself?

  2. Well, yes and no. We will be releasing quick-patches from time to time. We will try to gather them after a while into one bigger Patch (see above). After substantial changes we will release an updated complete mod.

I think it is not too hard to follow and, very frankly, if it is too much "work" to figure out which patches are needed...hhhhmmm...How will the learning part of a New aircraft will go? I guess it will not be too satisfying...

Download and patches are a hot mess. We have to download which version and then install multiple patches? Why is there no centralized, current version in a single download?

Nope, they are not. You need x.x.x.200 x.x.x.201 x.x.x.203 and 204.... Just pretty straight forward I would say.

We are not making everything a "new" mod since it is zipped 1GB download...no use downloading 95% stuff that has not changed...

The problem with any mod like the F-35 or F-22 is that the aircraft, their systems, and even the technological capabilities of it are all very top secret. Like, you go to jail for the rest of your life if you share it with anybody, top secret. So, anything this mod may have, anything at all, is pure speculation. Even if well-intentioned speculation, it will never be accurate. It is and will only ever be a "for fun" mod and will never approach the level of accurate modeling, systems integration, or combat capabilities of any other official mod in this game. Their nature is to spark imagination for a while, then burn out quickly. Thus is the life of a mod like this. Best to move on, nothing official will come of this plane for another 40 years, is my guess.

You have a very valid point here. I'm already excited to see how the new "comunity mod" will behave once it is released. I'm especially interested regarding systems-modeling (Laser and GPS-Weapons on a standalone mod??? SDK anybody 😉 ) But anyway, I whish those guys the best of luck and hope they can deliver a good version of the Lightning-II.

  5. Aloha les amis.

A little "life-sign" from VSN. Here is the slightly updated VSN F-35 Lighning II (Ver. 1.9.1.103) with slightly tuned EFM and some added changes:

    EFM:
    - FBW switch (and Input/Command) added, which swiches FlyByWire on and off (you might want to leave it on)
    - changed pitch behaviour with FBW-ON (very slight pitch down, almost stable att-hold)
    - changed flight-behaviour in FBW-ON (I guess more like a lot of guys expect it to be)
    - camera-shaker slightly reduced
    - higher AoA in FBW-ON mode possible
    - changed bahaviour of VTOL-Mode for F-35B (added pitch-thrust for more stable flight)

    MissionEditor/Statics:
    - F-35 gets displayed with open Bay-Doors to see what yo are loading onto it

    F-35C and Carrier:
    - problems remain. Cable gets caught, but does not slow the plane down enough.
SuperCarrier no response from DeckCrew: Force "Hook-to-Cat" is possible by rolling onto the cat, lowering the launch bar and pressing the "Hook-To-Cat" command more than once. Cat gets "fired" when reaching AB-RPM. (If somebody finds the cures to those problems, let me know and I'll update the mod.)

Since there is a comunity-F-35 Lightning II in the making, that will be a lot better than ours (if you can trust the devs), we will (most likely) halt the developement of the F-35 here. There is no use in developing the exact same plane in parallel, since somebody will eventually waste his or her time doing that, and time is to precious to be wasted.

    Cheers and enjoy the plane,

    PeeJott.

    Dear PeeJott17

Yes I made the carrier more then 10 ago for FC3. But since I released all data to the community and changed multiple times my hardware, I have no 3D data left. So unfortunately I can not say something about the status and functions. I`m still wondering that the carrier is still used for DCS but it makes me very proud and happy. If I remember well I spent 6 months on that project ...

    Hi Tom.

Really cool that the mod is still working. I need to take another look at it. I was hoping you might still remember that something weird had to be done to get the clients/players to hook to the cat, since that proves to be a problem with some user made carriers. I guess, it is always the same problem and mostly it is, because ED did something...well...unexpected and sometimes something, that really did not make any sense... Those things are remembered best...at least for me 😉

  7. The thing is, the AGM-45A and B will track radar-emission when the sensor gets slewed directly onto the source. With SU-25T avionics and phantasmagoria no Problem (SA-2 track and search-radar). It tracks perfectly.

I think the seeker might be pre-slewed in a weird way and if I get it right, the Shrike needs a lock before launch otherwise it will be inactive (might be wrong here, since there is only pretty scarse comments available).

And yes, A4 and F4 calculate wether the shrike SHOULD see the emitter. It is calculating +/-6 Deg to the pre-set axis of e.g. the plane. But if the seeker is e.g. looking up, that workaround gets messed up...

There is no other way right now, since the function-names and parameters which would "allow" talking to the missile are only available (to my knowledge) to ED-empoyes or certified 3rd-party devs. (Which is a bit sad, since soo much more would be possible modding-wise).

  8. Alrighty guys, just made some tests and spent some time coding a custom shrike. Turns out, it all depends (mostly)on the seeker FOV since I could get a custom Shrike to work with the rest of the variables in place.

Somehow 6° in DCS 2.9 became either less than in DCS 2.8. or the seeker is pre-slewed in a weird position and can't track the radar source, since there is no way to set the seeker-head of an antiradiation missile through the avSimpleWeaponSystem (or none I know of at least).
Shrikes do work when paired with SU-25T avionics, since the seeker is then (I guess) directed at the radar source and won't loose it during launch.

I'm already pretty excited how the F-4E and the new "Shrikes" can or can't be used with the A-4 and the F-4C.

    Cheers,

    PJ.

    TaktLwG 66

    Spearfisher Farbig.jpg                                                                               Spearfisher

    HowlingPuppies_Logo.jpg                                                              Howling Puppies

    snake_eyes_bw.png                                                                 Snake Eyes

    DeadVikings.png                                                           Dead Vikings

    Horny_Ravens_Logo_rund.png                                      Horny Ravens Aerobatic-Team

Actually, the video description indicates VSN is doing their own, and it is still being prepped for release.

Hhhmm, yes, you could take it that way 😉 But everything needs a bit if time...

Of course. I tried it on several different carriers, too.

Normally, Full-Flaps and start with water-injection should be enough...I will take another look though. Flaps stage 1 is not enough, btw.

If work then have a full module for dcs

That is good one. I'll give those guys a ping. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

Yes but that won't look too good...
