  1. I'll throw my hat into the ring, pretty swell of you op just like the last thread! :)
  2. You can put my name down. Thanks man, cool thing your doing here!
  3. Wow awesome! This makes me so excited! Thanks for keeping us informed so far ED, we appreciate it!
  4. So here is my take on it FWIW: In the beginning ED promised us a modular simulator, that we can all fly aircraft together in. So far we have gotten separate modules that have multiple copies of *some* files (eg: Maps, sounds, etc...) I was under the impression that with the purchase of a module, you got access to the DCS engine and that aircraft. So things like the graphics engine being updated with A-10, should be updated in Ka-50 because they are the same engine. I realize there are differences in the aircraft, however the underlying engine is the same. If people want the new models, and stuff like cockpit shadowing for their old aircraft (eg: ka-50) then there can be an expansion for $20 so that the devs are rightly paid for the time spent upgrading the old code, models, etc.... However base engine upgrades should come with your original purchase. So stuff like the HDR, and JTAC improvements, etc.... I'm not looking to argue here. You wanted a suggestion this is my suggestion. Make the Engine modular, so we can buy new models, and not have things like network compatibility destroyed without paying extra money. This I believe is the crux of the issue. Everyone here loves the DCS series. Sure none of us have a problem with $20, whats that going out to eat a few times? However what happens down the road when we have 5+DCS modules? Now were looking at purchasing the new one, plus upgrades for all the old ones...it's going to get expensive real quick. And using the logic that well you don't have to if you don't want to. Well why even get it in the first place if I know I won't be able to play with my buddies down the road. All this is doing is Fragmenting the community. By making core engine changes free, then your community can always play together, no matter if they have the money to buy the new models or not. Hope this is clear and concise, not looking to attack ED just offering my point of view and suggestions.
  5. Some charts to lookup, they should have your answers! http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Climb_performance_(A-10) Edit: link fixed sorry about that!
  6. While I am not and expert at this, I love to play. If your interested I'm looking for people to play with as well. My skype name is Arality like my username. Anyone reading this feel free to add me as well. I know these kind of threads pop up every once in a while maybe we could get a group going with the community for new people, or just people who don't have the time requirements to join a squadron. Then we can just find people online to play with when we have time? BTW: I found two steam groups for DCS that seem to have a lot of members might be a good way to find some people to fly with: Digital Combat Simulator: A-10C Warthog (DCS: A-10C) Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark (DCS:BS)
  7. That's pretty slick, where did you get that VAC? I did a quick google search and pulled nothing for it. Edit: This one? http://www.dwvac.com/index.html
  8. Man guys your killing me here's a pic of the two files being played....
  9. Lol yea Rider1's got it. The UI music is actually a movie of sorts (well a static picture anyways), take another look. Or if you are that pressed for your time and 2 secs is gonna kill you dont...
  10. So I was searching around the sounds folder in my A-10 install for something to put on my phone as a ring tone. I saw both of the files in the EditorMusic folder and laughed  Has anyone else found this? "Listen" to the files in there if you don't get it :) P.S. I realize they probably just need placeholders but it's still funny
  11. Also I don't know the details of your joystick but you have to disable force feedback from the menu before trim will work. Well if your joystick is not a FF one anyways.
  12. If I remember correctly, when you use the trim button, it will trim all the control surfaces. Trim works more akin to "holding" your controls at the point when the trim is pushed Vs. fixed wing were you can move the range of the control surfaces.
  13. I'm running a Phenom II 550, at stock settings and the sim runs great for me (It is in Beta so I can't run everything at full yet, like BS)! Get as big of a processor as you can afford but, don't sweat it to much.
  14. Well zoom, moves in and out from an object. Example: Looking through binoculars you can zoom in our out FOV is like widening how much you see. Example:If you take the binoculars off you can now see much more of your world. Widening your FOV
  15. I believe Lixma is referring to adding a slider in the menu options to control this, versus editing a lua file. I second with the suggestion, when I first got blackshark, it took me forever to figure out what to do to get the view correct. A nice slider in the options would have been awesome.
  16. Ok so I've been playing around with your track a bit more, because in every replay your gear is fine. I even flew your replay myself doing what you do to no avail, aside from once. I heard a loud thumping noise at the first set of strips on the runway, and my gear was toast. If you goto a outside camera and look at the runway, there is a "little" bump in that part of the runway, Wags said the damage modeling was still a WIP so I'm assuming it's just a beta bug.
  17. Landing gear seems A-OK in the track file. Are you sure that's the right one? :dunno: However a clean hog can rotate a lot sooner.
  18. Well technically they are both bugged, try zooming past 179. Portrait is nowhere near as wide as landscape so 179 or less is an acceptable zoom. It makes a quick fix until official support comes for it.
  19. I usually run landscape also, however A-10 multi-monitor is bugged so until ED has a chance to stomp the bug I'm running portrait.
  20. Maybe adding a modifier to the China hat? Or whatever button is most intuitive on the hotas.
  21. Or you can put the speed brakes on a slider on your hotas, if you have one. Then just a quick glance to see if they are deployed or not.
  22. Sweet pics man, sounds like a blast to be there in person!
  23. Cool, ordered both this morning! Thanks for the input everyone!
  24. I have no trouble getting the piper on targets at range, just takes a bit of practice, and patience.
