  1. happening to me a lot lately... the Aero restarts if I put it aside or start it aside and put it on. not always but very often
  2. This can be due to dcs’ poor cpu core management and allocation. Try Process lasso and for dcs.exe set core affinity to only the p-cores (exclude e-cores).
  3. U have time still. We don't even know yet if vendors will have an alternative or if WMR will still work if installed separately etc... I would not rush unless you were just looking for an excuse to upgrade
  4. I'll check that... think i also did restrict DCS affinity to P cores as well so that may be the fix rather than the I/O priority
  5. I have experimented with process lasso and found something that seems to work. Went to I/O priorities and matched DCS with low priority. Seems to force DCS to not assign I/O E-cores. Relaunched DCS after a reboot a couple times and I have not experienced the spikes and the log show no I/O cores assigned. Not sure if this is affecting anything else though as I do not really know what I'm doing here Anyway, worth a try!

  7. don't! I upgraded from i5 12th gen to i9 14th gen and hardly any gain really.
  8. You will be CPU limited with your 4090, not GPU. MSAAx2 or x4 or DLAA is your own preference ... different people different choices. Most of the rest you should be able to max out but often grass is dialed down, civ traffic but not required.
  9. Totally! Exactly the same issue and same fix
  10. I have the same system as you @cow_art and exactly the same issue and same fix (I toggle visib range on my side ). Only difference is I use DCS Standalone, not Steam.
  11. Are you using DCS standalone or is it steam DCS?
  12. Err no. both of us have it switched off in VB and we do not get this popup Have you looked into the steamvr settings? BTW... u are using DCS standalone I assume?
  13. There must be. I use DCS standalone with openXR and I am not getting this popup.
  14. could not find the NVIDIA NV_cache folder...there is a GLCache under C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\NVIDIA though. Did absolutely everything else... Still getting these frametime spikes by default Not sure what happens / why it goes away if I change a setting (like visib range) that triggers a restart. Because it really solves it everytime but only until I quit that session!
  15. Thks @Flappie. Did both but no impact. However, I can confirm that after a restart triggered by switching visibility range that issue is fixed for the session. But only that session.
  16. Done more trial on this... no amount of cleanup / repair/ removal of mods has done anything yet. I have found a way to make it go away... not a nice one: I go to settings -> change a setting that requires restart ( I pick visibility range and switch between extreme and high) ... After the restart the issue is gone... but only for this session of DCS. @Flappie besoin d'aide Anything that pops given your experience?
  17. If have recently started to experience random FPS drops in VR down to 15-20 fps for 2-3sec. I am using the F15E /Instant action / navigation practise (ready on the ramp) mission in caucasus. There are numerous F15s / F16s/blachawk and co planes so lots of textures / models to render. The FPS drop happens immediately and during taxi (first 2min). I tried to debug by removing all mods, dropping all setting, updating nvidia driver, restoring nvidia driver settings etc. Followed @Flappie detailed list (see his post further down this page) So far I have found just one peculiar way to prevent these spikes: Upon starting DCS I go straight to system setting, change the visib range setting to something different... DCS restarts and my spikes are gone. There are only gone until I restart DCS again though. Logs attached. Nvidia (driver 551.23) settings are default except power management at 'prefer max perf'. I am running out of ideas here. If someone can decipher the log and point me in a direction they would have my deepest gratitude dcs.log DxDiag.txt
  18. I have started to experience crap like this about couple weeks ago... I am all good locked at 45fps then randomly frametime shoots up a I sink to 20fps for 5-10sec... Tried everything so far... remove mods, check windows power setting, updated nvidia driver and reset its settings... nothing works and it seems to get worse rather than better.
  19. Did you solve it? I have a similar setup and just started experiencing big fps drops while taxiing to the runway along a busy parking full of various aircraft styles... big spikes in frametime for 2-3sec. Goes away once in the air. Hence curious about what helped u. Thks
  20. I see your point but do not think it is valid technically. With similar roll rate and acceleration a platform with more travel range will just be able to have an extended range of sensations. if you can pitch 40deg then you can feel a stronger G force on acceleration for example than if the platform can only roll 20deg. The motionsystems rolls at about 50deg/s I believe. The MotionXp can roll at 150deg/sec so anything rendered by the motionsystems should be rendered exactly the same on the MotionXP. And speed and travel are totally customisable anyway through the software. The fact it can travel more does not mean it will travel more to render the same sensation. In fact it will not. It will only if it needs to in order to render the right sensation and if the platform has only a shorter range then it will just stop before and not render as much as one with a longer travel range.
  21. Indeed. They use Flypt Mover and Open Xr MC for the VR compensation. They are cheaper, a bit more DIY but also have bigger motion ranges than motionsystems and the various tests / videos I have seen show a very stable, smooth and quiet base.
  22. Anyone here using this motion platform? I would love some feedback / pros and cons
  23. Weird. Don't have that fortunately. You may want to reach out to Varjo support
