  1. I think these are good and valid points, there aren't many benefits to the system... Possibly fratricide should only be dished out if guns/missiles were used.
  2. Hi dsrg, I'd bet money it's RSI/carpal tunnel. I had the exact same problem. Buy the vertical mouse 4 at http://www.evoluent.com/ I swear by it. Fixed me proper. Also examine your keyboard and posture. Any forced/off angle joint alignment will eventually take its toll on desk jockeys. Thk me later
  3. Amazing... One request.. Have all models cast shadows whilst on ship, not just player's. assuming FPS wouldn't crash of course.
  4. Aye, special A10s with the Thrust-to-weight ratio of an F-15 if memory serves right. I think I remember mid-film having to bite my tongue wanting to tell the wife there was no way those planes could manouvre like that in real life. Must supress the inner-nerd!
  5. :megalol: Aww come on, why is everyone on this forum so damn polite, this deserves a .50-cal response. ....Must. resist. the. troll......
  6. I'd like to see Mr. Blobby vs Android on Crack vs Techno Viking in a dance-off/cage fight. That'd be awesome
  7. Hey DCSers.... anyone here a part of the closed Alpha?
  8. So you need a machine which runs DCS optimally AND you have to do design work? I run adobe cs 6 on my PC just fine...
  9. Yup, as expected, too good to be true. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-21074699 This guy is a crank who exists off funding, probably is Facebook friends with Moller

    Wow! That shit needs youtubed!
  11. Win8 does have a couple of niggles for me, around the context switching between Metro and desktop. But in ALL other regards win8 is better than win7. And it cost me £25???? Best MS purchase EVER. The Chicken Littles can all go and keep their heads buried in the sand for all I care.
  12. "I'm not really a nerd, so I'll have to ask to get a little wiser:" BOS, I think the implication from Leafer was that what you were essentially saying was: "Hello Nerds, I need your help. Can someone make my life easy 'cos I am unwilling to scan even just the FIRST page of the 'Home Cockpits' section" (which is where you'd get most of your answers off the bat.) Go there and prepare to be confused, and don't expect any magic switches. It's all file-editing and a LOT of time to get all the type of stuff you're asking for, but it is possible. Oh, and pay attention to anything PeterP says, he's Mr. Output.
  13. Good god..... My eyes just exploded after seeing those pics. Amazing work Hungaro.
  14. Srsly Goth? You expect, and are now passive aggressively enquiring why nobody's looked at your issue, whether formally by ED testers, or informally by forum members, of something that was posted on Friday afternoon, so you're not even '1 business day' into the timeline? Demanding, much?
  15. I've also had a nightmare experience trying to upgrade from 7 to 8!!! Have an Acer Inspire 4820TG... it's a quality laptop with an i5 running 64bit W7. However the upgrade fails EVERY single time at 68% completion with not a single clue as to why.... It does mention during the initial Upgrade Assistant that it seems the CPU/BIOS on my lappie might not support NX and thus the install may fail. But I have no indication if that WAS the reason it failed. I also have multiple partitions, 1 for temp/outlook/programs/documents.... have no idea if that's the reason. I am pissed and have just given up... thankfully I didn't pay anything 'cos I'm a Technet subscriber.
  16. I have no reason to believe Betteridge's Law doesn't apply here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge's_law_of_headlines It's been interesting times for Linux for the past 10 years, and sweet FA has happened, as Winz says. My feelings are that something can only compete in this day and age with BIG money and a single focus behind it. Sony/Microsoft/Apple. The open-source / designed by committee nature of Linux hobbles it from competing against the big boys, IMHO.
  17. Jack, that skin is amazing! If you are taking requests, I would LOVE to see this Diamondbacks CAG scheme..... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=57423&page=6
  18. Great to hear Scorpi. Yeah Viper, £25? It seems oddly cheap for Microsoft! Suspiciously so.... Must be a trap. Run away! ;-) I really like the look of multiple Start Bars, 1 per monitor, and the reported noticeable increase in various normal desktop use-cases. For £25 seems like an easy choice. I'm sure it won't take long to learn to ignore/bypass/euthanize Metro....
  19. Hi ED/Testers, (oh and forummers, stow any all subjective opinion on the topic-matter!!!) Is DCS:World compatible with Win8 at this stage? I can see no official threads/news on the matter. If not, is there any scheduled date for compatibility testing/ firmer position? I'm interested in availaling of MS's 40USD upgrade from 7 at this introductory price; I believe that offer ends in January? If not, I'll stick with Win7, no harm done.
  20. I'm well rusty on this having had this issue about 2 years ago.... I think XPadder might be able to do this if differentiation, if you can work through that abstraction?
  21. Yeah I agree his fps will go up, but enough to justify the cost? I wouldn't bother personally.
  22. No way... i5 3.4 to 4ghz is a total waste of money... You'll get little gains. Just get another 8gb ram and be done wit it!
  23. Would you not see contrail from the SAM? When the camera is initially zoomed out, you can see alot of sky, and nothing like a plume of smoke leading towards the original position of the heli. I don't think the video's conclusive proof one way or another...
  24. Thx, Nicely presented test results tow, very useful for people like myself on similar hw who are looking to upgrade int he same way. I wonder if anyone would care to speculate what effect over clocking tow's 'after' setup to about 4ghz would have on the fps...
