  1. i´d like to propose one person for one of the TrackIR´s.... GlowingAMRAAM if he want´s it... for someone that has given us so much in LOMAC movies... i don´t know if he has one or not but that´s my suggestion... for the second... Britgliderpilot for all the trouble and patience helping everyone on the foruns...
  2. Famalicao, Portugal. near Oporto in the north of the country... where Port wine and hot women are grown... :P and what Pilotasso said is true... Lisbon people are truly the laziest people in the world... :) but not us here "up north"... we work and they keep the money... :D:D:D:D just a little healthy competition north and south here... hehehehe
  3. My dear friend... the Rules Of Engagement regarding Mothers-In-Law don´t need for permission to engage... you should shoot in sight or even better in BVR range if possible to save you your wife´s lecture... ;)
  4. when you start answering your wife: "roger" "wilco" and so on...
  5. i have Mastercard and since the last post i already have a total of 6 people wanting FC (not counting you), so i think it´s a really good idea to mix it all up together... both Skywall23 and i are from the same club... FC Porto... the bet arised from a conversation where he INFAMOUSLY stated that SL Ben**** would win the league this year... given the poor display of our team this year, that might happen, so i´m really a cool guy that wants to give a game away... :P anyway, if Sporting or any other wins... (i.e. Braga) he loses and has to pay the game... it´s a win-win for him... he never loses anyway... ;) as for the rest.. the only thing standing on top of my monitor is my TrackIR, so... unless you happen to buy a magazine where i have written anything, they usually carry a photo also... (though i would like to avoid that... :D) Best regards...
  6. Thank you, Jason... NaturalPoint sure is giving a deluxe treatment to us all... congratulations... just one doubt... usually it would compensate buying several games in one shipment to cover shipping expenses... can you tell me if your shipping of a few games to Portugal would be base shipping+ % more for each game, a fixed shipping price until a certain weight is reached or each copy would pay a fixed shipping rate? if buying several copies together without increasing the shipping costs too much is true, then i think that would be the best option. @ PILOTASSO (or any other Portuguese around here) i am already going to buy 3 copies (when available) of FC, one for me, another for a friend and the other for Skywall23 (he will get it for free from me or not depending on who wins the SuperLeague this year :D)... if you feel like it... we could all join our orders so that shipping costs would come to a minimum... and who knows... maybe NaturalPoint would make a volume discount... ;)
  7. Glad i could help... in a way you´re gonna like it as much as a hot woman, so beware of girlfriend/wife reactions... :D
  8. i asked Nic´s mother about this and she feels that even though there might be a risk, she prefers keep receiving some very heartfelt e-mails about her son. QUOTE: "I saw the message saying was I might be open to spammers - it is really nice to get private e-mails to home regarding Nic, so I am OK to take the risk. In any case we use a sort of Mail Washer so we normally filter out the SPAM. Its nice that someone was looking out for me, tho' Regards Graeme" END QUOTE QUOTE: "Thanks so much - I have had a number of e-mails already , little stories about Nic - they're a great help." END QUOTE
  9. i´d like to make another "small" request from all of you that were saddened or touched by Nic´s passing. please "waste" 60 seconds of your time and write an e-mail to his mother just saying that you liked his manual or that he was kind on his e-mails or phone conversations. it would mean 60 seconds less on whatever we had to do... but it would make a world of difference to the coming years of Nic´s family. Thank you.
  10. i kindly ask for other members that post on other forums where Nic´s passing was reported to post Nic´s mother message.
  11. as requested by Nic Cole mother, here is a message to all of us: "Just a short note from me, Nic’s Mum. It has given me so much comfort to read the forums about Nic. It would appear he had touched the lives of hundreds of people. It was really nice to hear the comments from those of you who had either had e-mail dealings with Nic, talked to him on the phone or met him “in the flesh”. Also those of you who appreciated his efforts on the LOMAC manual, thank you. Nic was a very good boy, a real good kid and then we feel a really good man. Very easy-going, always willing to “go with the flow” as they say. He was a very loving son to me and we used to talk a lot. Since I had Nic when I was only 18, the not-too-big age gap meant we found it easy to communicate. Nic has a brother Andy Cole who is also finding it very hard. Nic’s Dad had died 3 years ago so he had had his share of sadness already. My husband, Mike had been his step-Dad for over 20 years ago and was very much his “mate” and misses him like mad. Nic enjoyed life to the full. He and Andrea were so so completely in love I could see he had a very happy and fulfilled life. I think we should try to think optimistically – we should have nice thoughts about how lucky they were to find each other. How lucky we all were to have known Nic – as well as me, his family, his mates in Sheffield, his customers for his IT business and all of you out there. Regarding the LOMAC Manual, my son Andy is trying to take over this side and is going to try and get everyone manuals that have been ordered, but this will take some time, so please please be patient while he sorts this out. He may even do further runs of the manual if he can –I know Nic would like that. I was thrilled about the idea that Nic might be a pilot in the next release of LOMAC and someone is kindly going to send us a copy. I know Nic would love this. I would be very happy to hear from any of you directly as I find it a great comfort to know Nic made such a difference - not many of us can say that. Graeme Gettings (mother of Nic Cole) e-mail mike@mgettings.freeserve.co.uk"
  12. yeah, right... instead of making a thread of caring ED´s customers that just don´t like to see release dates postponed and are also understanding about it, just by saying "put first half 2005" so that people won´t be dissapointed is very extremist... i´ve never been on my toes to get FC, as i understand the problems of software development... heck, my company´s web page and business and database engine took well over a year to develop... however, ED´s customer relantionship DOES leave a lot to be desired... whether promises were broken or not, for me, that is beyond the point... if customers believe they were, it´s very hard to change their minds with word pointing... a smart company would avoid that... i still believe that ED does some things ("wrong") but with sheer good willing... but i also think that some of those things are damaging to their image... right now i coulnd´t care less if FC is released or not... when it comes... i´ll think about it... even the foruns aren´t worth checking lately... :( it´s been a long time since i last checked in here or UBI.
  13. and people still wonder why there are so few players online... i still remember the time when i didn´t have broadband internet and i was left wondering how much fun everyone was having online... after having internet access in my house... tried a few times, then gave up permanently...
  14. well... i guess i was wrong in having high hopes that this could be cleared. but i understand that it´s not your job to do it and that ED needs to decide what they are going to do. Thank you.
  15. i was going to make some questions... but they have been made... glad that you are here...
  16. The penalties are stiff here, too! At least on paper. But, this is Thailand. Where just about everything is copied. Not just games. EVERYTHING! They don't even sell LOMAC at legitimate software store. In fact, you'll have a really tough time finding the legit ones. Cops in my country get pirated software, movies etc. Cuz they get them FREE! Once in a while, there will be a major bust here and there, but that's just for T.V. These people will be back in the same store in a few days. We're doing it to keep the U.S. happy that we are dealing with the problem. It's a known fact. The place where I go to, why else would the owner painted all the windows black? U gotta knock on the door sometimes to go in. Do cops know that he's there? That he allows kids to come in during school hours? But nothing happens cuz he pays them good. And don't think for one second that it's only asians and russians that buy these stuff. I see AMERICANS, BRITISH, and other EUROPEANS at this place called 'Fortune' all the time! Especially the Americans, they are sooo excited about how cheap the movies and games are. They thought no one would understand them. LOL We understand English just fine. well... i guess things ARE different there... :) don´t get me wrong, i´d say that here virtually no one has an original operating system on their home computer unless it came with it... however, business and companies have long started to have all (or at least, most of) of their software legally. the fines are really, really harsh... so many prefer not to take the risk. as for film and games... they are freely available also... i mean, sometimes it looks like it for pure stupidity... sometimes people download entire games from p2p sites or whatever and take one or 2 days doing it, generating about 1GB of internet traffic when sometimes that game is being sold for less money they are going to spend on internet bandwith with the download... funny... that said... i though i am against software piracy... i still don´t think that it justifies every mean to reach an end. but i am eagerly waiting for a statement from ED.
  17. are you sure of that? i used to own a place like that myself (50% partner until i sold my share), and in such cases we did not have retail licenses but special licensing from the developer/publisher. at least in Portugal, the penalties for such public houses using pirated software is EXTREMELY heavy, and even though in the beggining there was some piracy, after the first got busted, all the others got legal. and the license (at least here) has to be different from the retail license that is not going to be used for profitable means unlike domestic use... it´s usually just a matter of paying the state a fee to explore it... if it´s just one computer with LOMAC, i find it very unlikely that the owner is taking such risks against the price of a single license.
  18. IMO, censoring the names of the sites would be enough. yeah, i saw your post. didn´t bother me though. but there was other content on the post apart from that. deleting the offending names would have been enough, i think....
  19. Thanks... errr... your Cougar appears to need a condom, eh? :D like i said it is still as it came out of the box. i have contacted IJ though and bought the replacement SPDBRK button from him... i have not yet made up my mind about disassembling the throttle to change it... lazyness, i think... even though the button does work, it is misaligned and i prefer not to use it so that it doesn´t break. IJ is really a very nice guy and maybe one day, i´ll buy that erect... extension too... looks nice... it is one of the things that helped me make my decision of buying the Cougar... yes, it seems that either you hate it or love it. yes, there are problems. but i have yet to see ANY brand or type of HOTAS with the kind of community support, mods available and potential that the Cougar has. yes, it´s expensive. yes, you may have to mod it (i haven´t) but you KNOW that you have a stick for life... and that whatever happens with it... you can fix it and have lots of help from the community. proud member of Cougarworld where i bought a nice cool badge that i will sew to my Cougar HOTAS covers...
  20. Re: I've had enough true and not quite so. i don´t know if there would be all these problems if they had opted for SF without activation or other similar setup. again i think that most of the worries right now is being caused by ED itself by not making things cristal clear. however, we ARE in the middle of a weekend and i am sure that next week ED will step forward. and yes, price is right (i would pay more), flight sim seems nice and i have no problems with time to release. and no, i don´t like the way it´s coming out. but that´s just me. EDIT: if a pirate has a right to speak out against CP that bothers him, i think that as a paying customer i have a right to speak out to CP that bothers me.
  21. and if you check my posts i have done that too. and slapping was done by either "side" to the other "side"... it wasn´t meant to you. i just hope that Monday ED will make a statement and clear all this up. disagreeing is healthy and democratic. it´s how civilized societies work. and we DO agree on something... that ED needs to clear things up...
  22. Maybe Stormin is entitled to have an opinion? I've posted nothing here that is controversial or inappropriate. I appreciate your wanting to hold me to some particular standard but I'm not an official spokesperson and certainly not the Oracle of Wisdom. I have opinions, feelings, and every right to express them as much as anyone else within the rules and terms set forth in this forum. I don't work for TFC/ED and I am not in any official capacity on this forum. Why is it that people get upset just because someone totally disagrees with them? That's life my friend. If I disagree with you I will tell you straight up and that is exactly what I've done here. I have not uttered the words "screw you" and that has NEVER been my intention. "Wake up" is probably a better characterization. I happen to believe that TFC/ED are doing the right thing. The obvious thing is that no matter what they do they will never be able to make all of you happy at the same time and still be in business. They have always listened to the community and their reconsideration of the copy protection scheme is a prime example. I also believe that those that are so opposed to SF and copy protection are a small, very small minority of people who will, most likely, still purchase the product. A small minority of the minority are people who just want to complain regardless. All of this is my opinion and I am entitled to just that, my opinions. My only regret is that they have not made a detailed public announcement to clear up all the confusion and speculation. I'm confident that they will do so shortly but since like you, I am just another forum user, I don't have any inside information. of course you are entitled to have an opinion... but others have too... and i just don´t see why they should be criticised for that... sure... there has been a lot of speculation and stuff... but like i said... ED only has to make things clear to end this. and no. i have never been upset about anything that has been said or posted here. i have better things to do. i do think, however, that there has been a lot of unnecessary slapping with no reason. i still believe that the end does not justifies every mean. like you said, i may be a minority (and i speak only for myself), and i might still buy FC, but only because it´s ED and FC. otherwise... i would pass...
  23. i really don´t know what you were trying to say...
  24. owning a Cougar almost a year now. still is as it came out of the box.... very, very happy with it...
  25. a lot of questions and confusion would be avoided if ED decides to make things clear. it´s funny that just because some people don´t like an annoying system of CP to suddenly be relegated to parias and personas non gratas. i´m all for copy protection... i can bet that contrary to many, many people here, i have every game i use, many bought, some given by software companies when i wrote reviews. however, and this is just a comparison... ok? so bear with me... after the 9/11, many countries passed anti-terrorist laws that permited law enforcement agencies with freedom and legitimacy to do a lot of things that they couldn´t do until then. of course, there were immediatly cries of "privacy invasion", "constitutional rights", "big brother", etc... while the other side said that terrorism exists and needs to be fought. that those were just means to an end. but thus the end justify every mean? maybe we will never reach an universal agreement there... it´s basically the same thing here... ED has the right to protect their work. PERIOD. nothing against that. IMO, they are only creating more problems for themselves for not making a PUBLIC statement on how the system is really going to work so that the speculation ends here once and for all. they are the ones getting hurt by scaring paying customers away for not being properly informed and spreading desinformation around the web. this forum is only a fraction of LOMAC players, but what starts here will be spread very quickly. i still want to buy FC. i don´t like the system because i don´t believe that the end justifies every mean. as i have stated, if it was not ED and FC i would not even consider buying the game. since it is, maybe i will buy it, but with a heavy heart instead of a smile in my face. i wish best of luck for ED with FC and everything else they have planned. i also agree that Stormin´s posts have been less and less of what i used to see in Stormin and more provocative and with a "screw you, i coudn´t care less" attitude that i wasn´t used to see. maybe if Stormin replied to the posts of people that had legitimate concerns and worries instead of keeping focused on "paranoias" and extremist posts that only kept speculation alive in this thread and similar others, things would be clearer than they are.
