AIM-54 Changes / new API fixes are live in today's patch
Skysurfer replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Sure and I get that for those types of missiles it makes sense. The sparrow and generally all fox 1's rely on their seeker to pick out the target return. I specifically asked for the Phoenix in SARH (PDSTT) mode though. How does the AWG-9 guide it until impact in PDSTT and what modes/frequencies does it use / when does a frequency change occur? Because I could not find any documentation about that in the past and I guess HB should have this information. -
Sim. If you want to "simulate" the Tomcat and operate it in a realistic manner then yes what is in NATOPS is very relevant. There is probably a very good reason why the AP was not meant to be used past those speeds, most likely leading in failure of the system or various other undesirable effects. But if you just wanna do whatever is possibe in the "Sim" then sure, go ahead an pull 9+ G's, use flaps past Vfe and break the jet to your advantage. No need to re-use it afterwards anyway? :music_whistling: (caution sarcasm) While it is possible in DCS to use the AP at almost all speeds it was simple never used past the stated operational speed limitations IRL. Just like the F-16 never uses 4x HARM's and Navy and Marine Hornets don't use IR MAV's. As for the OP's report, I will check this myself in a bit but if it doesn't work at all at low speeds then that is clearly a bug.

AIM-54 Changes / new API fixes are live in today's patch
Skysurfer replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Source? How does the guidence signal look like, how is it injected onto the track and how does it affect various RWR's? -
I usually switch on NAV when lining up on the runway, visual fix is good but no need to adjust the thing with the radar. Even without a visual fix, keeping the system at 5.0 is usually good enough to get them all mostly on target. BK90's just arent precesion guided munitions by any means and if there is noticeable wind the accuracy might degrade even more.

Since it's written in NATOPS.

AP limitation is Mach 0.9 and below.

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!
Skysurfer replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
There is usually a default skin it falls back to, in the case of the 14B it's the VF103 last ride skin. -
[REPORTED]Vaziani no longer has runway markings?
Skysurfer replied to AstonMartinDBS's topic in Object Bugs
Yup, just had this on NEVADA as well. -
The Legit Discussion for the D Model Tomcat

Yes, I own it. It was terrible. -
The Legit Discussion for the D Model Tomcat
Skysurfer replied to HairyPOOnuggets's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Yeah no, you can't just estimate a bunch of subsystems and wish it into being. There is no unclassified documentation on all of those systems like there is for the A and B model. Not even close. I'm sure someone could make a half-assed mod or version for FSX/P3D but it would be nowhere near Heatblur quality. All of those statements you provided are super vague, unless you have all the documentation for each of those systems obviously. I think everyone should forget the D model until the US DOD decided to miraculously declassify all of the 14D documentation. The "age" of the information has nothing to do with classification levels. -

Skysurfer replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
As well as untextured LAU-7 racks for extra AIM-9's and the untextured TCS internals. Such simple and straight forward fixes, yet here we are 1,5 years later. -

We'll probably see this stuff on the 18th. -
Aren't zone 3 CAT launches a thing though? Or did I interpret something wrong?

Random F14 flyer, PLM does not show in HUD?
Skysurfer replied to majapahit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That's SEAM not PLM. And no, that behaviour was wrong and corrected since. -
Random F14 flyer, PLM does not show in HUD?
Skysurfer replied to majapahit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
PLM has nothing to do with sidewinders. In PLM you place the target near the ADL and hold the button for lock. In gun mode the lock should be done automatically. Other than that I don't really get wat you are trying to say. -
[RESOLVED] Angle-of-Attack Indexer Light to dark
Skysurfer replied to Natalon's topic in Bugs and Problems
If you look above, I posted a screenshot from a Tomcat video off of youtube where the indexer is cleary visible and bright during daylight. This thread is also marked as [KNOWN ISSUE] so we shall wait and see. -
We need a full fidelity Flanker, Mig-25 and Su-24 ideally. The 29A would be nice from a pure flying perspective but combat wise it wouldn't be much more effective than the 23MLA/D. I'm all for a full fidelity 27S/P Flanker though, which is 100% possible and either ED or some other reputable 3rd party simply need to commit on it and do it.

Add new M waypoint for BK90 TOO in flight?
Skysurfer replied to Machalot's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Radar is pretty wonky and requires you to be fairly close, and high. Get the coords from the map and punch in the LO/LA. BK90's arent relly a TOO weapon they are meant for pre-planned targets and require a visual fix update before the attack is commenced for the best accuracy. -
Add new M waypoint for BK90 TOO in flight?
Skysurfer replied to Machalot's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
You can overwrite existing M points, create a new B point and convert it to an M point etc. I haven't found myself running out of M or B points like ever in the Viggen. -
It would be highly appreciated if ED could give us a status update on the Super Carrier and what is still planned to be delivered this year. Mostly the various adressed bugs and feature wishes (like removing the IFLOLS overlay, incresing the physical IFLOLS visibility, longer and more visible ship wake and ACLS, to name a few). Thanks.

By what account do you hold this to be true? Is this just an asumption? Or was it just the Iraqis being more careful and trying not to engage / disengaging later in the war whenever Tomcats and Phantoms showed up or adapting their tactics for ambush attacks, as can be seen by the rear aspect missile kills by Floggers on two Tomcats. Not saying the 54A would hold up in a modern environment with ECM but we dont have ECM in DCS and thus no modern environment. RWR's are usually too accurate and distinguish everything perfectly on all non-3rd party jets in DCS. From a kinematics perspective the 54A is just as capable as the C, the difference lies in seeker performance and CCM behaviour in a degraded environment as well as storage and servicing reliability, which was by far the biggest downside of the A's.

Have you ever heard of trim?
-
It depends. Like, what altitude, what conditions, how much fuel and what else are you carrying. Mach 1.1+ is usually the rule of thumb.
-
Yes. No need to select the base really
