  1. Thanks for your helpful posts I plugged the joystick in to a different USB port and have had no problems since My guess is that the joystick was getting "unplugged" very briefly - enough for black shark to lose it as a DirectInput device xbox controllers have a different API that supports hot plugging while the game is running - but DirectInput devices need special handling for this The proof is simple - unplug a joystick while BS is flying and plug it back in - it won't work ... Not a big problem but ideally BS should handle hot plugging of a plug and play device
  2. Imagine this sequence of events: - install bs1 - activate (activations reduced by 1) - take image of os - reinstall windows - install bs1 - activate (activations reduced by 1) - restore image of previous os - deactivate will I get 1 activation back? (when you use 1 activation you can get it back by deactivating)
  3. Good tip But I don't think it helps if your activation is corrupted You will lose an activation whenever that happens For this I guess you can use Ghost / TrueImage to reinstall your machine and then deactivate (as long as your hardware hasn't changed) Can I deactivate after activation and get my activation back again?
  4. 1 flight in 3 BS starts to ignore joystick input The joystick is still functioning in windows OK It seems to happen if I don't move the joystick for a period of time (Which happens if I am in autohover - all my shkval and weapons controls are on other input devices) The only solution is to abort the mission -- On a similar note there are other times when the mouse is ignored (but it usually starts working again, unlike the joystick) And when in the Options / Controls GUI sometimes pressing a button will jump to the corresponding row, other times it won't ... I can't determine a pattern In general BS1 seems to have problems handling user input I didn't find similar problems when searching this forum, am I alone?
  5. When is version 2 coming out? I don't want to pay double just for bug fixes like with Black Shark Because the way things are with DCS now - the more bugs in their products the more money they make! which is good for them very bad for us who have to waste hours sorting through the endless mess instead of flying ...
  6. I have registered at http://www.scsimulations.com/ but my account has not been enabled for downloads There is no activity or replies to my msgs How to download Helios?
  7. I would like to see how others are flying missions ... Is there a way to search attachments in the forums?
  8. Is there a way to setup monitors.lua so that I can keep a snap view in a separate viewport? That way I wouldn't need to use TouchPal ...
  9. Thanks for your reply I can confirm Save View Angles is working Here are my notes Shutdown Black Shark Edit view.lua C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View\view.lua Change: UseDefaultSnapViews = true DisableSnapViewsSaving = true to: UseDefaultSnapViews = false DisableSnapViewsSaving = false Startup Black Shark Press the Snap keyboard combo you want to change: NUM 0 NUM 0 + NUM # NUM 0 + NUM 3 // In my case Release the keys (let the view return to previous) Move and orient the camera Orient: NUMPAD Move: RCTRL + RSHIFT + NUMPAD then use RALT + NUM 0 to "Save view angles" Press NUM 5 to return to Default Cockpit View Press NUM 0 + NUM # to test your new snap view (I haven't found a way to amend an existing view yet ...) When you exit the flight and return to the menu Black Shark will save the new views to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\View\snapviews.lua (I tried using WinMerge to find which section has changed ... but bs reorders the lines each time it saves ...)
  10. Default snap view 3 (looks down to the right at the PVI-800 and AutoPilot) is angled too high so it cuts off the often used buttons on the AutoPilot I can edit the snapviews.lua file ... but which entry maps to snap view 3 ? Also does "Save view angles" work now?
  11. Would it be possible to achieve a similar effect just by creating a monitor layout lua with multiple views of the cockpit? You can use viewdx/dy to point the camera Is there a way to position the camera also? And to stop these views from responding to the "no cockpit view" mode (lalt + f1) ? This would use more resources but everything would work ...
  12. This looks like the best 3D LCD technology available now: http://www.hyundaiit.com/CoreServlet?cmd=goProd&prdCat1=3D_DISPLAY&prdCat2=3D_MONITOR Very simple technique: uses horizontal interlaced circular polarizing filter so you can use RealD glasses (from cinema) the downside is half vertical resolution
  13. I managed to see 1 second glimpse with cross eye - very good I will check out parallel now you can take a source stereograph and try it in different formats with StereoPhoto Maker (freeware from japan) My desktop typically has between 20 and 60 windows so I started wondering if a stereo 3D desktop would help ... all good except reading text ... next experiment will be using fraps to record stereographic movie and upload to YouTube - haven't found a way to output side-by-side from iZ3D though if I could do that I could use YouTube 3D
  14. for polarizing I would need either: - polarized lcd display (zalman, iz3d) - projector with polarizing modulator - twin projector with polarizing filters and they all cost money and only perform slightly better than anaglyph the lcd polarizing displays are cool but have very narrow field of view and you can't tilt your head (linear polarizers) what you shouldn't buy is the 120hz LCD + active shutter glasses as they will mess up your eyes there is also dolby 3d cinema which is probably the best technology as it gives good color, brightness and field of view ColorCode anaglyph sounds good but stereographers say the Cross Eye is the ultimate - no equipment required and fantastic colors - but I keep practising ...
