  1. We haven't really made any major changes to our slotblocker in over a year.
  2. By track files you mean the local replays that are saved in your dcs folder? If so, we aren't (and can't afaik) do anything to stop you from getting those. So if they are not populating then I am not sure why?
  3. While some pilots look at MFDs when they fly, they have to use their eyes (not screens) when they spot in real life. We use screens in DCS to spot.
  4. I would just like to share not my perspective but the general vibe that I have seen from the multiplayer side. While there is only a dozen or so pages on this thread, there are thousands of interactions per day on discord which is not really captured here. In general, the feedback, from what I have seen, on the spotting changes has been overwhelmingly positive. The few people who seem to be opposed to the new spotting are people using a nascent technology (VR). As this is the first version of this and the few negative response seem to be centered with some VR people, it looks like we are moving in the right direction. Once this is solved for VR, then it should be in a good spot for everyone, including the few players on VR. What we had previous was simply unacceptable for spotting for a sim in 2023. What we had before was the worst spotting system out of any sim on the market. This is a step in the right direction and it's the first step to fix it.
  5. They are coming back in the next patch. We are going to be making them based on player credits to call in. So they will be more dynamic and not based on a clock
  6. Celebrate Core Changes Nice to see this in the patch notes
  7. It appears that if there are enough EWRs in a mission that it will not allow for RWRs to prioritize and a MiG-21 R-3R launch will be masked and not give any sort of launch warning.
  8. The other theory is that maybe EWRs are somehow flooding RWRs and not letting new things pop up. Which can be tested. But right now it is not easily or reliably reproducible. RWR deadzones and/or general multiplayer desync could be just the issue. Curious if this will happen with other planes. If people do have it happen in a flight they should post their logs as that will help.
  9. We tested this with single core vs multicore, locally hosted vs dedicated server and cold start vs hot starts and found that launch warnings do occur. We suspect this is related to RWR deadzones on the F-5. Other should test to validate.
  10. DCS is a "free-to-play digital battlefield game." according to the DCS page on Steam. One of the two free to play planes is not even full fidelity. This mix of fidelity is already part of the game. I hope ED decides to bake MAC into the current game and not fragment the playerbase between two games.
  11. This is why I mentioned specifically about the depths of system that need to be modeled and not just clicky clicky
  12. That's fair, I would like to ask one question though. Do you find value from other people flying FC3 planes that you run across in multiplayer? I would imagine that it is nice to run into OPFOR/REDFOR opponents that are flying iconic Russian jets like the Su-27. Even though mid-fidelity may not be your cup of tea, I would argue that it does add value even to the full fidelity-only people, because it gives them content to fight against.
  13. By DCS you mean the game that has in it FC3 right? FC3 is an important part of DCS. I would really urge people to sit back and think about a populated, non-WWII, server that doesn't have FC3 on it - I can't think of one. It's a core part of the game that covers an important area. More non-full fidelity aircraft that can help cover some gaps that can't be covered because of full fidelity requirements, could help do the game well. I would really like to see a MAC update for a future newsletter, could be neat.
  14. SharpeXB, if you need to be taught how to install mods just let us know. You just have to copy and paste a folder once you figure out how to download something. Maybe the confusion from your side on this is because you think the mod installation process is some sort of hard process. 2% of the the US population still uses AOL. I would not be surprised if a non-trivial amount of those people fall into 4% anti-spotters.
  15. >Using settings available to everyone to downscale to 1080p not cheating >Using a mod available to everyone to make spotting at high resolutions more similar to 1080p cheating Interesting. I was curious who were the 4% of people that voted against the mod when the poll went up. I am glad that I read through this because in my mind it shows a very elementary understanding of the game and how the servers manage their communities. I really believe in numbers and I would strongly suggest that people do not lose sight of the community's position on this. 94% of players were in favour of this mod. People like SharpeXB represent the 4% yet SharpeXB has been spamming this thread. A disproportionate amount of noise is coming from their side when they represent a tiny minority. Just because there is a really loud and vocal minority does not make them relevant. There is a lot of education that needs to happen on this topic. Please keep this in mind as you read this thread.
  16. This may be the only time in history something has polled at 95% in agreement... Not even 95% of people like ham.
