  1. Dont get me wrong the currently existing ACM submodes bore (especially with JHMCS), hud scan, vertical scan are pretty good. But when is slewable coming? And markpoints would be great to use for viper ground striking I think to mark out where some targets are. That is all. I had a bit of a slump and and kinda lost interest in the viper for a while last month; I got the basics figured out already pretty well. There was not much new features in viper. But I went back to viper to learn air refueling and little bit about TACAN and ILS landings, to keep my mind busy so its ok. I've also been playing A-10cii and also enjoying the groundpound, its a very nice module for some relaxing ground strike in the afternoon. Keep up the good work squashing bugs and bringing new viper features ED. I think I will start playing some of my other modules like hornet soon also. Seems like its a very well fleshed out module with the carrier ops and ready made features. I will most likely go really confused about all the control binds though!
  2. im gonna try it on PG map also again. I think the mission editor should show the ILS approaches and frequencies there at least. Im not sure if those show on f10 map once youre in the actual mission- I think Al Dafra has the problem that theres two runways 13 L and 13 R and only one ILS frequency shows for one of these on the F10 map ingame. Not sure if this is supposed to be this way. I just made a custom mission for myself on PG and it only shows one ILS for rw13
  3. im having big trouble also intercepting and maintaining the localizer mainly and glide slope in Al Dafra Persian Gulf. I've been practising ILS in visual conditions just to be sure. I inputted the correct rwy 13 ILS into freq in T-ILS. I even asked Al Dafra ATC where to land, he said rw 13. (this could be good or bad because theres left and right thirteen actually there) Ok, so then I turn back north towards the coast and use TACAN to lineup with airbase for a straight in landing. Then I change the EHSI into PLS TACN mode for intercepting the localizer. Im on perfect approach to one of the runways 13 (there left). I intercept localizer but not yet glide slope. Then the localizer just goes crazy on approach basically.
  4. I feel like in some situations I would prefer to keep like tanks, but jetison bombs. But I dont often run into this issue i think what I was trying to do was to find the enemy on boresight dogfight and then jettison centerline only. Other times you just get shot from long range when doing A2G either by SAM or longrange fighter like mig31. In that case I might want to jettison bombs but still evade and maybe continuie doing CAP. But since I made this thread Ive learned how to AAR also so Im not that dependant on droptanks nowadays. (like i think i can do AAR atleast in low lag server or SP)
  5. it might be that im somehow misunderstanding the centering of the dogfight switch somehow but now im just utterly confused myself lol
  6. I dont have a dog in this fight if what you say is true that the implementation as is should be correct for block 50 F-16. My impetus in filing this "bug report" was that I read both Chucks guide F-16 and the eagle dynamics F-16 early access manual. And the eagle dynamics manual was misleading in this regard then. if the current ingame implementation is the correct one. Because the ED manual F-16 claims on p.189 regarding sidewinder missiles the following eagle dynamics F-16 early access guide p.199 clearly as evidenced by the ingame tracks that I posted the underlined is wrong in the manual then. COOL is only selected automatically when entering the dogfight override mode, IF the AIM-9 was already selected as a weapon e.g. in the AAM mode. However if you enter dogfight override mode from AAM with AIM-120 selected as a weapon, you will instead receive in the dogfight override mode AIM-9 selected with WARM seeker Furthermore the COOL is not automatically selected with MSL override mode. In fact ingame what happens is that if you had selected AIM-9 and COOL in dogfight override mode, and transition to AAM, then still in this stage the settings are preserved for the AIM-9 in the AAM. But entering MSL override mode, the AIM-120 is selected and seemingly the AIM-9 seeker reverts back to WARM upon the change of weapons. eagle dynamics F-16 early access guide p.188 Perhaps an addition could be made here that AIM-9 seeker cooling will not be considered a saveable setting upon change of weapons from AIM-9-> AIM-120->AIM-9? I think atleast BORE/SLAVE will be preserved from what I've seen ingame
  7. the only document i could find from google was multicommand F-16 handbook dated 1996 volume 5 (from f-16.net) It mentions fence in checklist. And under it it says put missiles to cool seeker. Implication is that the missiles would stay on cool seeker, because it is part of a fence in procedure prior to entering the combat zone. But maybe the behavior changed from the 1996 versions of F-16 and aim9 missile. In those days there must have been aim-9M in service https://www.f-16.net/downloads/F-16_Handbooks/11-f-16v5.pdf
  8. 3.1 – M61A1 GUN 3.1.1 – EEGS (Enhanced Envelope Gun Sight) Introduction. its in there atleast my pdf version of chucks guide f-16 viper
  9. feel free to make a thread or post in my newly created thread to provide more information. you seem like knowledgeable guy on f-16 systems. I just went by with what I've read from chucks guide
  10. Aircraft had amraams and aim9x loaded. Master arm set to MASTER ARM. Air-to-Air master mode selected. Amraam selected. Dogfight override mode entered and I always seem to get aim9x selected with warm seeker head. It was only after I exited from dogfight mode back into AAM with those aim9x selected, and then back again into dogfight mode again, that the cool seeker arrived with aim9x cool seeker selected. Master arm was on constantly. My control setup was warthog throttle and I used boat switch as the DGFT and MSL OVR switch in controls. Clearly my controls work, otherwise they would be unable to even switch between DGFT and AAM and MSL OVR. The controls I setup for the boat switch was called in its category designation "special for joystick, throttle grip, hotas" dogfight missile override switch dogfight/center, and dogfight missile override switch missile override/center. 11. so to reiterate the entering into dogfight mode only seems to cool the seeker of the aim9x, only if the aim9x was already selected weapon in the original mode with warm seeker e.g. in the Air-to-air master mode. Then when I press dogfight override it will actually go into dogfight override mode and select aim9x with cool seeker.
  12. that is the case atleast for me that it wont go to cool seeker. Master arm was on with amraams selected. Air-to-Air mastermode was selected. Then I pressed dogfight override and I had bore aim9x with warm seeker selected. It was only after I exited from dogfight mode back into AAM with those aim9x selected, and then back again into dogfight mode, that the cool seeker arrived with aim9x cool seeker selected. Master arm was on constantly. I have the trackfile here but i dont know where to put the bugreport. 13. ok thanks for info. Chucks guide p.364 f-16 viper provided incorrect information on this matter, leading to me misunderstanding those 1-127 were wingspan profiles.
  14. I don't know if it is working as intended but I doubt it. Obviously there is slots for multiple gunsight wingspans available in the jet from 1-127. Those slots are scrollable with increment switch. But setting one profile to a wingspan value sets it to all the profiles overriding all profiles. It is not possible to set multiple profiles at the moment. Seems very fishy from the look of it, but maybe it works like this. nvidia replay is currently uploaded to youtube so the quality might still be bit low but get better as HD version is processed at this time.
  15. did anyone look at this problem? is it working as intended? I read chuck's guide and it claimed there that when selecting from regular AA mode into -> dogfight override then the aim9x should be put into cool seeker mode, but it is not being done consistently as shown on video. sometimes it just transitions from AA mode into aim9x and warm seeker in dogfight
  16. for the price. Consider the price of the customs fee separately from the actual produict. products actual price was around 59€ on paypal for me. For a comparable product if you were to make this on your own. same higher quality sensor 3D printed slew cap arduino or some other board that fits inside the throttle coding the arduino to receive I2C from the sensor and communicating it with the warthog throttle you need to select a compatible arduino or otherwise design the circuit so that the voltages are compatible as the arduino would draw power from the throttle. there might be a need to use logic analyzer to see what exactly the throttle was doing to the original nipple slew before replacing it. I havent researched the warthog throttle this much myself. I could probably do it since i did stuff like this in school but i dont even have logic analyzer at home lol. It would be a big hassle. 3D printed housing which fits exactly the hole of left by original slew nipple 3D printed or otherwise plastic wash plate to hold the housing in place screws etc I mean theres a good bit of work in this still to make a comparable product for cheaper cost.
  17. I just received the throttle slew upgrade. I ordered it way back in December or something but I knew I had to wait for January for any shipments already then. So, I had it ordered from brexit covid britain, and I live in Finland. So it took a bit longer to arrive than I even expected. Order was shipped on 18th Jan, and delivery process took in its entirety about 13 days. But that included the slow as hell Finnish customs holdup when I had to pay the customs fee. The delivery from Brexit Britain to Finland took about 10 days from shipmment to arrival. I used the royal mail standard untracked option which had me a bit worried for some time whether or not they lost the package. But the package arrived well. My only criticism is that the installatoin guide maybe could have had some tips for removing the original sensor it was tricky as hell to pinch out the plastic thingys. I had to watch this guy's tutorial video for the installation. Beware that your SRS profiles for hotas will become invalidated with the slew upgrade. so you gotta remake the SRS profiles with your throttle button presses for the SRS functions. But it was qwuick enough to remake those profiles. Im super excited to test out the warthog slew upgrade in planes like A-10cii. I was able to use the original low quality nipple slew somewhat good in the A-10cii and also the F-16 for radar cursor. But in the F-15 I could never manage to properly use the original low quiality thrustmaster nipple slew no matter which axis I used for the F-15 eagle radar TDC, which was what prompted me to seek out this product. It appears that my DCS profiles managed to stay intact for F-16 controls atleast, so the slew upgrade did work after calibration and at least my F-16 axis controls in DCS seem to have been saved and retained.
  18. never mind. if you stay at the original atc frequency on VHF you can commuinicate with your own pontiac flight at the very least. would still be nice to see the radio frequencies in all the mission briefings alt+B.
  19. Ignore the very first seconds of video coz i recorded it in single player with nvidia replay and the shortcut also put dcs into slow time mode. but i put dcs back into normal time acceleration immediately The video shows me toggling between the dogfight override mode, the regular airtoair mode and missile override mode. The sidewinder doesnt consistently go into cooling seekerheads. controls used was warthog hotas throttle "special for joystick hotas" control dogfight override. I used that control because it seems most consistent for a 3 position toggle switch on the warthog throttle (the grey 3 position throttle, neutral and forward and aft positions)
  20. it happened to me on multiplayer mission also when flying very fast and very high altitude in caucaus winter. but i wasnt recording it. I just remember that there was no malfunction indication lights, so it wasnt flightt control system failure for sure(?). The plane went into a deep stall rocking up and down in pitch totally uncommanded. I was flying way faster than mach 1.5 though, lol. altitude was most likely around 45k feet
  21. It would be nice to have briefing mention the flight radio frequencies or preset radio channels to communicate with your own pontiac flight in this mission to coordinate the BVR attack
  22. ok, i did a small test in single player with viper and tomcat and it does appear that STT locked IFF scan still does work properly, at least against AI tomcat. The thing is though that the response seems to take a long time like almost 3-4 seconds for a single scan to complete. It seems like IFF scan mode works faster to complete the scan, with TWS as opposed to STT locked target. Im thinking that what I did on hoggit server I maybe started a second IFF scan without the earlier scan having completed in the 4 seconds. Its probably that or the tomcat dude legit had wrong IFF codes.
  23. it has happened to me a couple times on hoggit server that I go dogfight mode on sub 20mile contact. I lock him up in boresight STT dogfight. Then I was in the default IFF interrogation mode which was scan. I make two scans and they both show, not friendly. I shoot the amraam from 10 miles. but it was blue on blue on a friendly tomcat. According to chucks guide F-16 manual the IFF scan mode should be able to be used against dogfight mode stt locked target, and be effective at interrogation. my own IFF scan mode was working perfectly earlier in TWS regular CRM radar mode earlier that sortie. But the IFF interrogation should also work when in dogfight mode and against STT locked target. my own thinking on this is that either 1.) tomcat made wrong iff codes on his own end 2.) game bug somewhere 3.) dogfight locked target cannot be IFF interrogated in real life??? 4.) I must have gone color blind for a period of two seconds or somehow missed the IFF scan results. can someone test with with viper and tomcat to verify if I'm hallucinating or something lol the tomcat was probably in his own RWR blindspot with regard to my radar. But Im not sure if that should affect the iff results. (I was almost aiming at his canopy , headon)
  24. I tried to selective jettison when in dogfight guns mode in the f-16 but I could not select the droptanks at all. I had two wingtanks. I was in dogfight mode, selected sms page. and tried to select SJ or drop tanks but could not do it this way. Is this intended behavior? I could not find mention about it in chucks guide dcs f-16. I can do selective jettison in F-16 but only when not in any dogfight mode, and only like e.g. Air-to-Air master mode.
