  1. Step 1: Open up DCS world Step 2: ??? (I'm still stuck on step 1 )
  2. I'm having the same problem here since updating to 1.2.8 just now. The DCS multiplayer launcher opens OK for me (although I've still get the "connection interrupted" error anytime I try to enter a game, but that's another story). The regular launcher just briefly opens a black dos style window for a second or two and nothing further. I immediately tried soft and hard restarting my pc and repairing dcs world, no luck. Disabling windows firewall also doesn't solve it.
  3. Just in case anyone else is having this problem, you also need to have the "weapons system" switch on (just next to the 3 ejection system switches) for the fuel pumps to work. I learnt this the hard way in the "courier" mission where I didn't turn on weapons because the shark wasn't loaded with any.
  4. Yeah its a better fighter than the F-16 probably (especially when it comes to BVR), but still nowhere on the level of an F-22 or even an F-15. So it's kind of priced itself out of the multi-role level. I think I also heard somewhere that it was also supposed to eventually replace the A-10, so was more relating to the loiter time in a CAS role vs that...
  5. I think the F-35 is too underspecialized though, so it's not really great at anything in particular. It doesn't have the loiter time or payload to excel at CAS, too expensive to be a multirole workhorse like the F-16, and not powerful and manoeuvrable enough to be a true air superiority dog-fighter.
  6. Yes I thought it was probably a silly question, but just checking. Beats me then :(!
  7. And you have black shark 1 installed as needed to register the upgrade version of BS2?
  8. What you can do is just slew around the TGP, and look at it's diamond on the TAD. But yeah it is a bit weird if you're looking behind you because down and up slewing would be reversed.
  9. I think he's saying that the munitions with higher initial energy will be dropped earlier/further out by the aircraft in order to hit the same target with a ballistic trajectory. So they also have more distance to cover using their energy.

  11. I found that when I had "disable windows aero themes" or something similar selected in the options menu then this also caused the exact same thing. This was in the A-10 though.
  12. I think because the director circle tries to fly you along the "desired course" towards the next waypoint. In other words, it tries to make the little yellow and big white arrows line up on the HSI, instead of just flying straight towards the next waypoint.
  13. I'm not so sure about holding the stick fully forward after touchdown to aid in braking. Wouldn't this just lift up the rear, taking weight off the main gear?
  14. The arm ground safety override switch is functional in the sim as well. Comes in handy if the gear fails to retract properly!
  15. You need to have DCS World installed first. Warthog v1.2 is now a module for DCS world, not a patch for v1.1.1.1. DCS world is free, check out the forum stickys for instructions. Apologies if you already knew all this and are having a different problem.
  16. Is your trackIR "z" axis (forward and back translation) assigned to zoom? That could override the keyboard controls perhaps. If you get the 6dof cockpit mod, you can then assign the z axis to move the in game view forward and backward as normal.
  17. I definitely agree Steam is a big piece of **** software. You spend all your time waiting for it to update all this stuff while you can't do anything but look at adds. No offence intended. But I wanted to play shogun 2 the other day and it hit me with a 5 GB patch! So I can't play it now because it will burn up my internet quota. All most probably for DLC which I have no intention of buying. But at the same time, while I can't understand why, a lot of the masses would be exposed to DCS:world through their steam installs. So in that case it's a great idea to put DCS on there, as long as I don't have to have anything to do with it.
  18. The question is, how can you be statistically certain that is the case?
  19. Yes that might even bump it up to 76%!
  20. The chances of a hornet are now astronomical! ED wouldn't do the exact same aircraft as a third party at the same time, so no -16C. Plus that domain name registration a year ago. Plus the purchasing of the hornet technical docs. I rate the odds at 75% F/A-18, 15% F-15C, 10% other...
  21. Good idea with the zip tying your SSD to the CD bay! Mine is just duct taped inside a 3.5" bay...not very secure. Interesting air flow design in that case as well.
  22. Would the larger amount of ground clutter make less of a performance hit in CA because you're not flying past it at 300+ knots? So there is less to load?
