  1. It doesn't show Target Aspect for you on the TID display?

Err No, should it? I can get it to show Target course and relative bearing.

Victory you wouldn't be able to explain what the various steering commands do? E.g LD Pursuit, Pursuit, LD Collision and Collision?

I've spent all afternoon trying to sort it out in my mind.

  2. I need help calculating target Aspect Angle, given the information the Tomcat's systems give you.

I've been doing a calculation of:

180 - relative bearing / ATA - difference in heading between target and self = AA

    i.e. 180 - ATA - HCA = AA

    Is this correct?

    Is there an easier way?

  3. Can anyone help to explain the 4 possible weapon steering types that can be shown / selected for the pilot by the RIO.

Maybe someone knowledgeable can fill in the gaps....

It's shown in the window to the upper right of the TID:

LD CLSN - How is the steering commanded and what does it do? how does it differ from lead pursuit? Never seen this in the window yet.

CLSN - Selected by RIO using the push button below - Commands collision course with target??

LD PURST - Selected with an STT lock with weapon selected. What's the definition of a lead pursuit course in this case, and what specifically does it do except point my nose (and weapon) ahead of target?

PURST - How is this selected and how does it differ from Lead Pursuit? Not seen this either.

Loving the RIO systems, many thanks guys.

  4. It appears that the ACM modes do work with guns, but the radar diamond on the hud doesn't move around to show you which ACM mode you are in

is this intended and if so why?

Because the diamond is used to indicate the 2000ft (or something?) Range prediction in guns mode. It can’t be used for the radar scan as well.

  5. ;3843935']Turns out this an ED issue' date=' the GBU-24 won't work with any aircraft, we'll have to wait for them to fix it.[/quote']

GBU-24 Paveway III will be added to the hornet at a later date and a fix will come at that point I assume. I guess it will be properly modelled with differences from the Paveway II series. Looking forward to it.

  6. The way to do it for now, is to designate the target visually and then extend back out to 8 miles or so, then run in back to loft on your designated point.

Obviously, this isn’t how we want it. I’m not sure you can designate a ST with the computer in any other way though. Possibly with the IP function, haven’t played with that yet.

  7. I realize this is a bit nit picky 3 days after release but hey...

It seems the MANDATORY ATTACK option on the TGT DATA Cap menu is missing... I can't find it. The DO NOT ATTACK is there and it shows correct symbol on TID.

The 'Mandatory Attack' should force the WCS to add a TWS target to it's targeting list. Pretty useful as detailed in the manual.

Any ideas? Naquaii, mainly talking to you.

    Cheers.

  8. Loving the F-14 so far but noticed a problem with the Maneuver Slats indication.

According to the manuals, both Heatblurs and the real NATOPs, the Maneuver Slats should show a red and white cross hatched indication when deployed. (It's also the same cross hatch as 'OFF' condition, maybe that's where confusion is)

It doesn't do this ATM. Slats show as retracted when actually they are deployed. This can make it hard to know config.

Attached shots from manual and in game to illustrate. The in game shot has maneuver flaps and slats actually deployed, but no slat indication.

    Cheers.

  9. So looking at the various videos I’ve noticed that in landing mode the VDI doesn’t have 5 degree pitch line increments, just the standard 10 degree increments.

The NATOPs manual describes and illustrates 5 degree increments when in LDG mode. Is this accurate? Maybe a later or earlier mod that HB isn’t implementing. Seems strange.
