  1. That was a very helpful breakdown, not that others weren't helpful but the comparing the lists visually helped, and I am not usually "that" visual.
  2. Oh I understand that, I have been "doing what I've been doing" for a good while and was just looking for a change and to be frank, I am not entirely concerned with the individual role. I was more just considering learning something else is all. I wouldn't have the time for online play anyway. I mean as far as regular principles of flight I can confidently take off, navigate, shoot some <profanity>, engage, evade, etc..etc..etc.. ( can't bomb to save my life though ) and then land 99% of the time. I just hopped back into the f16 and thought "eh..." i just wanted a little freshness is all ( without learning to bomb ). Which is why I was more concerned with the training than the role. I can adapt to a role ( even bombing if I had too ) I just wanted to learn something at least a little different and it came down to the three, and which of them cut through a little bit of the fat a little better than the f16 The viper was fun as hell to learn for someone like me at the time though.
  3. I already do the F16, which is quite fun. 'Round about a year and a half ago I entered a new commitment that required a great deal of my time. Some of that has lessened, though not significantly. I wanted to dip into a new airframe, but I dont quite think I have the same amount of time I did back when I first learned the F16. Ya know it was a lot of reading watching doing. Of course any airframe will be some degree of reading, watching, doing, it would be a smidge more helpful if the in game missions were, perhaps, strung together a little better. Ya know, not an easy button, just a little more thorough in general. Thats all. I was told this was somewhat the case with the Mirage, and was just curious about this in regard to the Tiger.
  4. Hmm yes I suppose my question was clumsy in that regard, I was not aware that there was a F1 I was speaking of the 2000.
  5. I was about to pull the trigger on either the Mirage or the L-39 as I read both have great training missions, however; I had just listened to one singular soul rave about training in the F-5. It did not get any mentions in any other conversations so I figured I would ask here. How do the training missions on the F-5 stack up to the L-39 or the Mirage?
  6. Apparently im a very big idiot and I didnt know you could change the type of coordinates displayed on the map, and that I needed to do so. WHOOPSIE!
  7. So im learning the f-16 and playing around with steer points and coordinates. I keep trying to see if I can find an airfield using the map and setting coordinates and then landing the jet. I followed the video below and am not getting the accurate results. In the below screenshot, i set my coordinates n41 40 027 e044 56 048 elevation 1574 which is roughly the blue circle i drew on the map. But where it took me was n41 40 05 e44 55 55 In the below video it seemed the coordinates took him exactly where he entered. Am I missing something here? I couldn't find a mention of this specifically, I seem the be either a.) completely inept at entering coordinates or b.) something's wrong and I am unable to suss it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  8. @brixmis When you say all instruments behaved as you should, do you mean the above described "dashed cross and solid lines" on the HSI giving the glideslope info? An above poster says they believe this no longer works as described in the training, and I don't see them moving at all on the HSI. This is on the night landing mission Per the above advice i'm abandoning using the HSI for any glideslope info.
  9. @Ramsay My man, you just saved my overthinking brain from a whole week of overthinking. I do appreciate the help!
  10. First I'd like to say thank you, this will be a wonderful help once i've had the time to thoroughly digest it. But, my noggin is still stuck on one fine point. These are the two instructions it gives me regarding not having the ILS indicators on the HUD, in keeping within spirit of the exercise, I would like to understand the heck he is saying. I see the dashed cross and the lines but I don't see them moving as described here. I did see the air strip as I flew right over it and to be frank, now that i've passed over it a couple times I am fairly confident that with everything you provided I could touch down, crash a dozen times and just get the feel for it. But do you know what the dude is taking about here? Sorry i didn't see the pictures so fuzzy. "as we get closer to the airfield I should also mention that not all airfields have Russian ILS, as we had in the last lesson. Airfields that do, include Mozdok, Krymsk, Maykop and Krasnodar-Center. Being that Beslan does not have this, you will not get the HUD ILS indications. However if you look down at your HSI, you will notice a dashed cross int he center and both solid vertical and horizontal lines. The dashed lines are fixed and represent optimal glideslope and localizer position for the solid lines. If the glideslope bar is below the dashed line, you are above glideslope. If it is above the dashed line, you are under glideslope. If the localizer line is left of center, you need to fly to the left. If the localizer is to the right of center, you need to fly to the right. You always fly to the needle"
  11. Well thank you, that's very helpful and yeah, i may not have gotten close enough on account of crashing and all
  12. Hello. New to DCSWorld, in fact new to flight sims all around. Me and my father were puttin together a model F-16 during virtual visits. Ya know he is retired and older and in the age of covid he is home bound and aint got much to do. Thought it was a nice thing to help him spend some of his days with someone other than himself. Anyway I got curious about the jet and while looking up general information on it, I found some thread on reddit discussing its use in DCSworld and thought "Hey, why not" I haven't bought the F16 yet, I don't have a stick, so I'm seeing how quick I learn using the su-25 and they keyboard. Anyway, very happy with the sim so far though. And I'm always happy to meet new people so.
  13. First, community, I'd like to say that this sim is very solid and fun to play. It occurred to me to see if there was a f16 sim while I was putting together a f16 model. Now before I put the money into a HOTAS and the f16 for DCS, I wanted to see what my aptitude for learning a sim was with the keyboard on one of the freebies. So far, I can start up the Su-25, follow waypoints and paths using the HUD, and the ADI / HSI and land it without blowing myself to bits. But when I got to the night landing training mission, there is no glide slope info on the hud as is intended for the training. Instead, I am supposed to use the two lines on the HSI, however, the lines on the HSI are not moving as described by the voiceover dude. I tried to search the forum, and I couldn't find it mentioned as a bug for the su-25 and was wondering if it a.) was in fact a bug or b.) Im just a stellar idiot. Really looking forward to going through the rest of the training missions and any info on this would be most helpful.
