  1. A quick update... I did some more experimenting and was able to replicate draconus's results from the qualification mission with both the A and B models. No blackouts after several attempts. It occurred to me that the loadout was considerably different here when compared to the other missions that I had been attempting. It seems as though the issue is connected to take-off weight. Any loadout that exceeds 60,000 lbs. seems to trigger the blackouts at launch. Loadouts under that figure do not cause the momentary blackout.
  2. I noticed after the most recent update that I now experience a momentary blackout in both the F-14A and F-14B during all catapult launches regardless of throttle position (even with the throttles retarded to only around 25-30%). I'm wondering if this is possibly an unintended result of the ground handling and suspension overhaul from the May 18 patch. Head position and trim settings do not appear to have any effect on it either. As a test I temporarily reverted back to the previous version of DCS (2.8.4.39731) and the blackout phenomenon that I was experiencing was no longer an issue when attempted under identical conditions. So, I have to assume that this an effect of something that changed in the most recent update (2.8.5.40170). My tests so far were limited to hot start launches while spawning already attached to the catapult... so it may ultimately only be a problem under those circumstances. I will test the "cold start" and "hot start from ramp" options next to see if I get similar results. Update: The issue appears to be connected to take-off weight. Any loadout that exceeds 60,000 lbs. seems to trigger the blackout at launch. Loadouts under that figure do not cause the momentary blackout.
  3. Just a quick heads-up... in the Jester menu when you select A-G ordnance, the GBU-24's label comes up as random gibberish. It appears to be different every time and occasionally it will show up as blank. This is a very minor issue, but I figured since I noticed it, I would pass it along. The other GBUs and all other ground weapons seem to get labeled correctly. See slot # 3 in the attached image for an example.
  4. In certain situations, when in DGFT Mode with AMRAAMS armed, the search and uncage/lock tones for Sidewinders can still be heard. Specifically, I've noticed that if you switch to AIM-120 while in DGFT mode and then exit and re-enter DGFT mode, an AIM-120 will still be selected but the audio tones and cues for the AIM-9 remain, when they should not. I tested this with AIM-9Xs and AIM-9Ms and found the bug exists regardless of Sidewinder type. I attached a track showing the issue with AIM-120Cs and AIM-9Xs. F-16_DGFT_Bug.trk
  5. I have done some testing and at the moment AI wingmen within your own flight outright refuse to launch BVR radar-guided missiles at A-A targets. Other allied groups and enemy AI will still launch these weapons, but when commanded, AI wingmen will simply push until they are within range of an IR guided missile and, assuming they've survived that long, will fire an AIM-9 or R-73 instead. This absolutely applies to all versions of the AIM-54 Phoenix and all versions of the AIM-120 AMRAAM across all airframes. It also appears to apply to the AIM-7 Sparrow and the R-77. The only oddball exception seems to be that AI MiG-29 wingmen will still engage using R-27Rs & R-27ERs. The Su-27 and J-11A both seem reluctant to use any version of the R-27 and follow the same script of flying toward the enemy until within range of their short-range heat-seeking missiles. In these tests it also seems as though the wingmen never actually turn their radars on at all, even if directly instructed to do so. I believe this behavior is the result of the most recent Open Beta update as these same missions were played a few weeks ago with AI wingmen launching these weapons at will. The simplest way of testing this for yourselves is to fly the F/A-18C BVR 8v8 Instant Action mission. You will notice that the second flight will launch their AMRAAMs and Sparrows, but your own wingmen will not.
