  1. the mig-21 is better than the f5 at the lower speeds. https://dcs.silver.ru/1,101,9,74,lbs,turnrate . study this and try new things, remember with these planes you wont come around fast, its a long fight if both pilots have their heads on, good luck
  2. Is there a chance that the AV8B can have the tests done with takeoff water active and then one with takeoff and 20deg+ nozzles and all this done with the engine protection turned off. Your tests do not mention the water and the engine protection... with water on (even if there is no water being used/any left) the engine will boost and with nozzles at or past 20% it will boost again with the engine limiter off it will maintain max power untill the actual engine starts to melt. There are alot of setting for the harrier that effect the performance of the aircraft.
  3. tldr, you don't actually care about the aircraft at all. I think its rather important to stack aircraft where they should be relative to each other. Even if all aircraft stats are wrong I think its important to have a mig-21 that can not rate better than an F-5 because... it could not out rate the F-5. If the plane is magically contradicting real life at a speed where we do not have the information to state it with proof, then trends should be followed and aerodynamic simulations are to be conducted if the latter is not acceptable. FYI its the multiplayer crowd that is pointing out the issues because any issues are exploited and reasonable areas of the flight model are not what people care about or use when vs real people.
  4. idk how much you know about aerodynamics but a wing does not allow you to turn faster especially with drag, airflow seperation and a wing that is not designed for low speed... This aircraft has a primitive delta wing from the 50's. The graphs are there to show you the trend in load on the aircraft. If continued, the load would lower and infact would lower at a faster rate as the airflow starts to separate from the wing more and more. At the end of the day the FM is broken there is no two ways about it. IRL in US testing the F-5 was superior in a rate fight, in soviet testing the F-5 was again superior, the performance graphs that we have say the F-5 is superior in the rate, soviet doctrine and training to foreign users of the aircraft directly state that they should not engage in sustained turning fights with the F5. In game this is not the case. The devs, on the bug list has recognised that the FM below 500kph is broken and they are yet to assign someone to the task.

  6. I'm sure its because he wants the main aircraft on the server to be rear aspect and for the special aircraft to have special capabilities. If its the case the 21 gets the 60m then all the blue planes would need all aspect missiles and im sure red dont want the Viggens to come and dunk on them all again with all aspect missiles.

My point isnt that the AJS is an interceptor, although being a fighter is its secondary stated role, the point was, with the addition of pylon control, you can reasonably use it to allow for the simulation of the viggens early, and period correct, role of being an interceptor. This could be done by replacing some of the f5's as a main aircraft in the server. Personally I think the match of 2 red, high power, highly capable, frontline airframes from a main power vs the light power, capable export fighter, that was not meant as a front line fighter for capable powers at the time, is lacking. Due to this I will try and think of ways of reasonably implementing aircraft that I feel fit, and would make for a more dynamic and less predictable environment. This dynamic environment can be more felt when playing blue, when merging it isnt, ah yes, a mig 21, lets do this pre defined tactic that I know will work, or enter a fight with confidence; before and in the merge you are trying to id the target and plane for the mainly 2 but possibly 3 types of fight you can have, not to mention if you get 2 aircraft of a different type. For red i feel you only have one eventuality to plan for with a rare second. There is no second guessing wether you should slow down before the merge to gain a position on a mach tucking viggen, no though of weighing the risks and if your wrong, leaving your self open to attack from a miss id'ed target. I just think with the addition of the viggen as a fighter replacing possibly 2 of the f5 slots or some f86 slots it would make for a more dynamic fight and would add another layer to the rock paper scissors. Red have a better turning plane along side a good all rounder and blue would have a good energy fighter with good instantanious turning along side the blues version of a mostly good allrounder. Both alternative main planes have significant benifits but also significant negatives to boot. @Alpenwolf hope you see the reason why im again asking for the viggen fighter again, due to the change of mission setup capabilities, i know i forward this thought alot. Furthermore to the community, some food for thought for people who see the viggen as only a ground attack platform. Hopefully you can understand the reasons i feel playing red can get boring and repetative while also understanding the reasons that i, and i would argue, the likely reasons others opt to use the viggen as a fighter on blue.   8. @Alpenwolf With the new pylon limiting feature, it would be cool if you could make the Viggen an interceptor and attacker. For example you can have a couple slots as a pure fighter, allowing it to carry the sidewinders and rocket pods while giving it access to a proportionate amount of missiles when compared to the Migs and f5. For the attack aircraft you could now just limit it to wingtip missiles allowing for the separation of roles and controlling the amount of planes being used as fighters. I appreciate that this would take some time to implement, just an idea.
  9. Can we get more airframes and weapons for the helicopter mission, I ran out of gazelle L's after just about an hour and a half. Not like I was throwing them away getting multiple kills per helicopter but non the less ran out of airframes and was low on rockets after a relatively short amount of time. Maybe 3-5x the amount would be good, the same for the rockets. Another alternative would be just making the airframes and weapons unlimited for this unique mission.

  13. Viggen Updates to sidewinder pylon drag coefficients. (DCS changelog) Also in the past I can't confirm but I'm sure that they have mentioned that the Viggen has a damage model, but the visual damage can desync and not have a visual damage model that correctly represents what the damage should be and again I think it was the case the visual model was too delicate/aggressive compared to the actual damage. Hope the fact that the drag on the pylons have been fixed means that they are looking into fixing the drag and power values. 1450+-50kph soon TM hopefully and a good acceleration curve, not the 5g acceleration to 1.3mach then you hit a brick wall we have now.
