  1. Yes, I use a winwing f18 stick with a VPC rudder pedal, bonded as it suppose to be
  2. Hello, when I taxi along the deck with a slightly faster speed and trying to engage nws hi, the nose wheel would not turn and would turn to the opposite direction and stuck, how to solve that problem?
  3. From at least 50 times of experiences on f14A&B carrier landing, I found out that at about 85%rpm, tf30 seems to generate more thrust than f110 at nearly identical load at weight configurations, interesting ………..
  4. Your right, there is probably some issue with that statement, but this is what is usually behaves, lots of tomcat guys don’t land in the way it should be, and if you don’t do too much deliberately static control, you are not so easy to get into stall, and you still could power up to correct it, and also fly without trimming is pretty incorrect as a little change in stick movement could result in sensitive pitch change, which is not so good for a aircraft without auto trim, I did saw guy in the GS server that pitch like crazy during the case 1 and ultimately stalled and crashed in tomcat, definitely because he don’t trim at all and also he is apparently a newbie
  5. Hello, i would like to share my valuable experience of f14 case 1 carrier landing, would try to present it in the shortest words, be free to add your own opinion Before commencing, i would like to clarify that this article is only for players with hotas, your could still learn something if you use keybroad. Furthermore, the correct way of landing f14 defined in this article is with dlc engaged while trimming on speed at around 140-150 knots while CATCHING the E-braket with below 10000 pounds of fuel in clean load and not smashing onto the deck. 1 TRIM THE AIRCRAFT!, tomcat isn't a FBW aircraft that has auto trim to keep you on AoA like hornet, which requires QUITE SOME trimming to keep the AoA at the correct angle, if you don't trim the aircraft, good luck, the cat would punish you with harsh temper, namely STALL, with nearly uncontrollable pitch, there is reason for trim hat to be put at the center of the stick, so TRIM THE AIRCRAFT. 2 the normal AoA you need to reach after trimming is at 8-10 degree showing at the HUD ladder at 145-150 knots, which enables you to catch the e-bracket that would stably float at 7-10 degree, at that time your don't need to worry about stalling or compressor stall of the aircraft, if you do it right, that won't happen, and you would magically realized that tomcat is surprisingly stable at this state and would not so prone to stall that much. 3 USE THE DLC, i saw to much pilots lands tomcat like hornet who thinks DLC is just a complex liability, no its not, in contrast, you will find it much harder to land tomcat correctly if without DLC, DLC could help accelerate control of sink and rise with some sporadic extent and retract, which will massively help you to control the tomcat's sink and rise without too much throttle adjustment, furthermore, the small e-bracket is much more controllable and catchable with the control of DLC, another very important thing to knows is that the E-brake on the tomcat is designed to be cateched with DLC extended, it's not designed without DLC extended and would be impossible to safely reach, SO USE DLC. 4 many guys think tomcat is suppose to land at around 160-150 knots, its not, the e bracket is too high at that speed, the tomcat is designed to land at 140-150 knots, usually 145, don't buy those wrong opinion, the aircraft could still be rising at that speed. 5 for tomcat A, a 80-85% rpm would sufficient to keep tomcat afloat in most of the cases including banking depending on the weight, the E-braket is still stable so don't worry, but you need to keep a mind of adjusting the power after coming out of banking as the excessive power would rise the E-braket, for B tomcat, the rpm would need to be around 85-87% depending on the weight, i felt that TF30 actually generate more thrust at 85% rpm that f110 6 When on the final approach, the engine rpm would need to go down to below 75% to engage sufficient sink, otherwise you would still find tomcat not sinking enough as the lift body simply generate too much lift, use dlc control to adjust the sink rate and you will be safely go onto the deck. Finally, all what i said just now requires some good experience of landing tomcat, it would be better for you to land the tomcat on land runway before going to carrier, after some experience, you will surely be better time after time, you will get there, just like what i did, so good luck, of course there is some loose end in the article that haven't been described, i know, but i've gave you the general vital tips, it's after you to trim it yourself with your own experience to fit your demand. Here is a text book example for you to reference:
  6. Yeah, you need constant and quite frequent throttle adjustment to keep tomcat stably approaching, to exactly how, I’ve mentioned above and of course there will be dramatic differences between A&B, you will need a lot experience to pull off that maturely, so good luck
  7. Just tried to refuel with hornet just now, and I must say hornet is a joy to refuel, it’s stable, controllable, much less prone to oscillation, unlike tomcat which is a much harder to refuel at all aspect, it’s sensitive, quite hard to precisely control, oscillation is significant and frequent, and another things that is quite important is that tomcat’s refuel probe is quite far to the center of the nose than hornet, which makes it harder to refuels, I would say tomcat is one of the harder one to refuel in dcs as there is just too much rudimentary system inside tomcat, if you still find hard to understand, then just compare refueling tomcat like torturing and hornet like writing a slightly harder paper
  8. Those tomcat pilots are more capable than those hornet one, the complexity of using dlc with stability augmentation system with a steam gauge and a rudimentary hud with no auto trim and is just deadly for a those hornet guy today, and those tomcat guy need to do this everyday, which simply say they are fearless elite
  9. It’s been a while no see dude, I have basically solve those tomcat speed problems through some aggravating mistakes and pain, I have to say refueling is probably harder than case1, it’s a precise work, you could smash on to the deck if you want, but it would be highly unlikely for clumsy players to stay in position of refueling for long
  10. Yeah, for me I would like to leave the wing sweep to CADC as sweeping too backwards creates too less lift and it would more likely to pitch down a lot during refueling and that’s why I usually would sweep the wing forward to keep the some more lift
  11. Hello, I’m gonna give those fresh f14 pilots some useful tips for aerial refueling, I will provided in a list of tips. You could correct me if I’m wrong, I’m happy to accept your opinion 1 TRIM THE AIRCRAFT, tomcat doesn’t have fly by wire which requires some but not constant trimming to balance the aircraft’s AoA and vertical speed, if you don’t trim but instead wrongfully use full stick to control the aircraft then you will be impossible to refuel as it will pitch up&down drastically, so LEARN TO TRIM. 2 CONSTANT THROTTLE ADJUSTMENTS, tomcat both A&B requires CONSTANT &small while sometimes slightly excessive throttle adjustment to control the approach and leave speed to the basket, if you only make slow and nearly static throttle control, then you will quickly realize that you will either overspeed, or simply to slow to react to the speed of tanker, if you make constant adjustments, you will realize that tomcat is much easier to control in speed than a nearly static throttle , furthermore, the throttle also exert a massive impact on the unpredicted sink or rise due to turbulence, correctly adjusted the throttle up and down together with slight stick control will magically and effectively reduce the effects of turbulence, trust me 3 Don’t be rushy to catch up the tanker, many fresh f14 pilots are rushy to catch up the tanker and result in excessive overspeed and outpace the tanker, like I said, constant throttle adjustment is the magic wand to approach to tanker steadily without excessive overspeed. 4 The correct way to control the throttle is like pushing it forward slightly to certain extent to engage an approach and return slightly when it is too fast, and with constant small adjustments to throttle up and down will make f14 apparently more controllable in approach speed, and you will also find that you don’t need too much stick adjustment to stabilize to aircraft. 5You would need some slight but not too much stick movement before the contact and after to stabilize, you would need experience to learn it 5 The DLC thumb wheel will also help you to extent and retract the leading edge slats to compensate the undesirable pitch, heatblur didn’t mention this functionality in the manual but it act works. Trust me 6 You will realize that throttle adjustment will result in significant oscillation which is reasonable since you are not flying perfectly flat but with a little pitch up as seen in your hud ladder, if you realize that you have pilot induced oscillation, try to correct it with small throttle adjustment and small stick movement, you need experience to learn it so be careful, many people don’t realize this issue and had caused serious problems when contact so BE AWARE And lastly, get yourself a good flight sim rig, it’s straight impossible to refuel with keyboard
  12. Well, you made a fairly good point, I would also want more of those including the reagan
  13. Hello, it would be very good if there could be a chance, that ED could bring the Reagan into super carrier module,
  14. Thanks, after i tried your approach, the problem is solved, and i would further comment there was still some lateral movement after brake below 80 knots, use nws to correct it intead
  15. This is my most recent touchdown, it is so far one of the less distributing situation among many of the chaotic touchdowns, in all three video i tried to correct the sideskid using full rudder and lateral stick movement, i even immediately engaged brakes after touchdown in video 2&3, yet the tomcat still have uncontrollable or even more sideskid after slowing down, if this was normal situation the aircraft would have run out to the grass in majority of my situation, i just can't slove it, it upset me a lot, the aircraft is ok for a moment while still having some speed, but would lost control after slowing down, in general it would be hard to control it not to rush out, the video may not look so serious it was because i done my best to control it, and it was one the less worse ones
  16. Yes, I’ll probably check if there was some double binding issue, but would likely with no results, cause I’m confident that there is no double binding issue for me, and honestly after at least 20 times trying, I really don’t know how to sort this thing out, if this was what real tomcat pilot’s experience, then they would 10/10 rush out of run way And what is that spike on the brakes you mean?
  17. The only possible explanation of this unprecedented issue is probably due to the reason that heatblur modified the ground handling of tomcat Which they did post on their website
  18. Hi, recently I picked up tomcat again and tried to land on the ground at Neills Air Force base, everything was fine before final touch down. After touchdown, I found tomcat particularly prone to sideslip on the runway, I tried to compensate this problem by engaging antiskid spoiler with combination of rudder steering, and with full wheel brake, but tomcat still seems very prone to sideslip or even full drift after touch down, what is more awful is the rudder and spoiler would completely lost effect after lowering to certain speed, making aero steering completely useless, making me always rush out of the runway with no choice. I would say I have never met with this issue ever before, and I tried to repeat to solve it it at least 16 times with no solution. maybe this is because heatblur had modified the ground handling of tomcat could someone offer me a solution?
  19. Hello, I have been training carrier landing in f14b for some days, I found something very weird with its FM and engine performance during carrier landing. the first and foremost is that the thrust of f110 is somewhat smaller than tf30 at certain rpm, the f110 seems to generate less thrust than tf30 at the same rpm say like 85%, and to basically equalize the thrust with tf30, the f110 would need around additional 5%rpm to match that of the tf30’s, which is very weird especially considering f110 is apparently more advanced than tf30 with greater thrust. Second, the f14b’s sink rate and speed seems harder to manage than f14a, for example, at 85% rpm, the f14a can remain static in speed and level in sink rate during the final banking, however , if that was f14b then it would quickly stall, if I try to increase the thrust to 87% it would still stall(which reflect the first problem), though i can correct it by increasing rpm to 90%, but another new problem emerged which is too much thrust, making the sink rate to 1-3 above zero, after numerous try, I found that there just seems to not have a intermediate rpm that can both ensure that the aircraft is on speed while having a low or 0 sink rate with stable speed, which troubled me quite much. I think this could likely be a glitch in the flight model, I think heatblur should re-examine the low speed engine performance of f14b. And yes, I can replicate it
  20. I personally think my i7 7700 is capable enough not to have a overload problem, as the in-game processing demand is far higher than the one of search engine
  21. Hello, about serval month ago, there was a server list freeze problem that happens when server search server reach a certain number, the control would freeze and everything became unclickable. it happens again now, I tried to restart the game or wait until the server to respond but were unhelpful can anyone give me a solution
  22. I found just now that the server list in beta version would completely freeze after searching for server for a certain time, making every button in the server list and around unclickable, but the game would be still running, I could only quit the game by the task manager, is there any solution to it?
