  1. Might be time to migrate off that mission critical MySQL db that runs on the old machine under Jeff's desk in the corner... I know it comes down to money, but not having redundant and reliable data infrastructure that's corruption resistant in this day and age is a bit shoddy.
  2. Confirm this no longer works in 2.9. Unable to go to VACQ direct from boresight regardless of HMD on/off. Always been possible before 2.9 with HMD off.
  3. I'm a bit confused as to what's supposed to happen at the campaign end. It seems to be running 'End mission victory' mission and I sit an watch it for a while but nothing seems to happen, left it for an hour just in case. When I quit the mission it comes up as Score 0 (failed) and the campaign never ends, can't even skip it. Is it bugged or by design ?
  4. I experienced the best moment I have yet had in DCS. Trying not to spoil too much. Mission 6, already tremendously good, primary mission complete and egressing. Target of opportunity, managed to get bombs on target but lost my entire right elevator and shut down right engine (which I now know how to do from earlier mission!) to 30mm BMP fire. Radio check-in takes account of my planes condition! The attention to detail in these missions is second to none, absolutely incredible. Queue a tense limp home and what can only be described as a 'successful' crash landing. Mission complete, at the cost of a wrecked F18 but I walked away. Now just a few missions from the end and loving every minute of it. I would agree that it's not for everyone, it does need a good level of F18 experience but for me its perfection.
  5. Yes! finally. Grat's on the release, loading up now!
  6. It would appear that the left wing is clipping 'Z_Ord3' and 'Z_Plane Captain 2'. Moved them back 10ft and all works as intended, Blade gets to the cat undamaged and takes off fine.
  7. Did you turn on ECM Jamming ? I just flew the mission with it on transmit and they never got a lock.
  8. Can't really help much with your locking with ATFLIR, but consider that both the TGT pods and GMT radars are just 'helpers' for the IR Mav's to give it a location to look at when caged. It's still the IR seeker head on the Maverick that determines its target, when caged it will try and slew to a TGT and detect a suitable IR signature from its field of view. If you are able to identify the rough location of the target, you can use the normal IR Mav 'hold Target button and Slew' sequence to lock it directly from the seeker head. Hope that helps a little.
  9. It’s the new 2.7 clouds mainly, if the area is overcast the AI does not identify any ground targets and just goes into a holding pattern south of the carrier. Each time of day has a Clear, Medium or Rain variant but this is not displayed from the mission text that I could find.
  10. Thanks for the reply Badger, I noticed the bug post about 10 seconds after sorry... I've run through the whole campaign now and have to say, totally awesome.
  11. I had the same problem, whatever trigger is supposed to fire to signify the spec ops taking the ship seems to be temperamental. I ran the mission 3 times and it failed, ended up using the auto win at the start and skipping it.
  12. Since 2.7.4.9632 open beta (21.07 update) on take off my wingman pitches up to 70-80 AoA right off the deck on full afterburner then crashes into the water about 2-300 metres after ejecting. Happens every time regardless of loadout. Reverted back to the the Stable DCS 2.7.3.8494 build and its fine, no problems.
  13. Yup, I can second that, works for all campaign missions I’ve done since applying it, including Pontus.
  14. Flight tasking is set in the mission itself via F10 options at startup, not in the mission editor. This was updated in a patch and is in the new pdf manual. Waypoints can only be set for your own flight but you should only modify from WP2 onwards in order to keep the awacs checkin functioning correctly.
  15. I'm up to Sortie 18 through my first campaign now and have started to notice some common issuer; I fully realise some of these are limitations of the game but others are fixable. Lt Pickles given 'CAP Charlie' tasking is assigned 'CAS' in error AI Fuel management is a major pain; even with 3 tanks and minimal loading 9/10 will end up showing as losses. I even tested giving all 4 flights an RTB right after the AWACS check-in and it was 50/50 that they got back safely. Maybe we need a Go-Refuel order? Not sure what can be done to fix this given the AI. SEAD flights end up flying around at 50ft if given a mixed loadout (AGM88's and Mavs) and eventually get shot down by AAA. CAP Bravo tasking sometimes has the flight fly at 6000ft to the Bravo AOR, often getting SAM'd on the way. Should climb to 25,000 minimum before transit. As mentioned above, CASEIII landings direct you to Marshall too close the mountains, either move the carrier further NorthWest or adjust the approach bearing to make it over the sea. Can confirm the framedrops; seems to be correlated to being A2A radar spiked by a Mig23. As soon as the radar contact is dropped (usually though killing the target) it returns to normal. Interception misson; had 2 of these now that have had 0 bandits spawn and end up flagging as poor results. Even watched the Track and through TacView to see if I was doing something wrong but seems to be a problem with the triggers. All that said, thoroughly enjoying it so far, hope for incremental improvements to come along and make it even better.
  16. Seems to be bug with the new F10 tasking assignment. Giving Pickles a CAP Charlie task is giving CAS in error, seems to just be this selection as other CAP assignments or SEAD work fine.
  17. It changes in the latest Beta patch; it was removed from the Mission Planner and is now done once the mission starts through the F10 comms menu. Each flight in turn is given CAP (A, B, C), SEAD, CAS or STRIKE tasking. It's a little fiddly the first few times as you are usually going through start up at the same time and you also need to tell them RTB conditions but after a couple of missions its quite clean. Just need to be careful you fit out the flights in order so you remember who is supposed to doing what.
  18. I found that the absolute key thing with F18 AAR is to forget the basket altogether, just block it out from your active vision. Form up on the wing tip light, slightly low and around 2 hose lengths back and concentrate fully on the fuel hose pod. Drift across, still under the wing until lined up and stable then push up to the hose while focused on the pod, not the basket. Sounds counterintuitive to ignore the thing you are actually trying to hit, but the extra distance to the hose pod smooths out minor variations and adjustments a lot and you stay a lot more stable. Then its just a case of getting the picture of where you are when your connected and bedding in the muscle memory, it takes practice but a couple of hours after you get it you will wonder what all the fuss was about... In missions I usually use a racetrack orbit at 25k and 350knts which gives me a nice comfortable slot for by throttle arm position.
