  1. I have scratch pad which I DL'd and it's easy to open it and click on the map to insert wypt's. Open = Lctl-Lshft-X. The instructions say removing the wypt's already on the scratch pad = ESC key. In game ESC key = everything from resume to exit game. How do I change the wypt remove esc key to another one and is there a way to assign whatever the correct key is to a function in DCS under controls? Thanks
  2. You will probably get as many answers as to whether or not you're better off flying the stable or beta version. Far be it from me to tell you which one for you to use. You merely have to look at who's playing in stable and beta multiplayer. The numbers will tell you where you might want to spend your time. I may offer a few suggestions for your review. You might decide on stable or beta but might be wasting your time and HD space by having both. Having both is not the end of the world but if you fly with a squadron, where do they fly? You have just found out you have to perform updates from time to time. If you have both you will have to update them both. Most of the multiplayer servers get updated the same day the updates come out. In a squadron the words also gets out same day. If not, you kind of stumble around trying to enter a server only to find out you time out or just can't get in. Personally, my Squadron flies in Beta. We like being the first kids on the block to get the updates and enjoy flying the new toys DCS puts out along with 3rd party mods from time to time. We normally fly only in beta although one or two of the guys might have both stable and Beta loaded. I do not. When I first got into DCS I downloaded both. I tried stable and found not very many people flying there. I then flew in Beta and found lotsa of folks. I eventually built a new computer and never re-installed the stable version and have never missed it. You appear to have been around for a while and might have gone with the stable version. Nothing wrong with it. Just make sure you get the updater and when something goes appears to go wrong when trying to get into whatever server you want don't forget to run it. I hope this helps. 3. I thought the English had some for use on carriers during the war. I don't know how late it was but I remember them talking about the difficulties they had landing due to the long, large nose. They had to a circling turn right to touchdown if I remember correctly.
  4. DCS allows establishment of Squadrons and provides a short tutorial on creating one. However, the tutorial seems to fall short when it comes to editing Squadron contents. This begs the question once a Squadron has been setup in DCS how does one change it from private to closed? Can anyone help? Thanks, Ren
  5. Eduardo, I'll probably try but I had the original version and I don't remember it ever blacking out like it's doing in this version. I guess they want it that way. Gawd knows why.
  6. Thank you for helping me to work thru this. I did note one thing in the A4E-C mod and that's if you run the roll rate up to 720 deg/sec you black out. That never happened in the real thing although when you first do it you might find it difficult to roll back upright :). I think it's because yer eyeballs haven't recaged themselves from the rolling. You get used to it after a while. Blacking out from roll is very cheesy and should be fixed. Ren
  7. Eduardo! I just fixed the problem. I had pulled the a smaller HD and replaced it and the operating system on a new HD. When I reinstalled windows 10 it never picked up Visual C++ so I went and downloaded it and everything with all three mods is working fine. I ran across it this evening thru something plusnine had written about it and he stuck the webpage to download it in. this is the page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 and the required Visual C++ is x64: vc_redist.x64.exe I downloaded it, restarted my comp and it worked in DCS!!! I thought I'd let you know since you tried to help me and I really appreciate it! Ren
  8. Yes, the .dll is there. Here's what I did this evening. I tossed all 3 mods out. Trashed! A friend of mine helped me try a few things. I gave him the DL locations to go get all three mods, the A4, T45, AND C130. He dl'd them and stuck them into his mods folder. He ran them and got right into cockpit in instant action. I followed his lead and dl'd the exact same mods and stuck them into my mods folder. The only other thing in the aircraft mods folder is the A29. I tried opening them in instant action. Again no way to get into the cockpit, just floating above as a spectator. I followed the exact same way he dl'd and installed. We then went into the security settings and completely turned off windows security. still nothing. After downloading and trying to get back in I copied those logs and here they are; I made this log file immediately after trying those things. I also looked before I shut down to confirm the /Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Mods/aircraft/A-4E-C/bin/ folder, is the A-4E-C.dll had the file. Something is going on and for the life of me I can't figure out if it has something to do with windows or DCS. Is maybe something messed up in dis. I also did DCS updater and did actually update open beta. I wonder if DCS has a fix DCS program out there that can look at what's installed and fix it. Any more ideas and thanks yet again for your help. I wonder if anyone else is having this type of issue with DCS? Ren Logs.zip Opps, just to confirm I checked everything, since the A29 worked in DCS I went ahead and pulled it out of the folder and tried the other three mods in DCS thinking perhaps it might be causing some sort of issue. Nope. I still could not get into the cockpit. Ren
  9. Logs.zipHere's yesterday's. I think I'm gonna toss the other mods and start again.Logs.zip
  10. Thank you again, Eduardo. I'll run downstairs and grab the log files in a few and post them here. Rob (Ren)
  11. Eduardo, No joy. I added the links to antivirus exclusion list. Pulled the old mods out and replaced with the new ones. Still having the same problem. I started looking at the a/c folders and noticed in the a4E cockpit folder there are some folders that are still zipped. I have no idea why they're zipped and I tried to unzip them but have no idea where they even belong there. I left them in there but still nothing. I actually used the A29-B folders to see there was anything different and that's where I found the zipped files in the A4C cockpit folder. As I had previously mentioned the other A29-B mode works perfectly but no joy for the the other 3 - A4E-C, C-130 Here and the GosHawk. Should I send another Log file? Thanks for all your help. Ren
  12. It did and I did the same thing. I have an old google addy so I just logged in the a4e discord and got in. Here's my log file. Logs.7z To recap: DL'd 4 mods. A-29 B A4C-E GosHawk Hercules One works perfectly. The A-29-B The rest show on the bottom of the main DCS beta screen. The all open but do not allow me into the cockpit as it will not assign me a plane. It takes me into the arena but only shows other planes flying including when I tried a quick mission with takeoff only. I ended up watching another plane in the air and not in the cockpit of the A4E. Whatever I did wrong I did it three times. LOL Thanks for the help. Ran
  13. Ok I gotta head downstairs and turn on my PC to get the files and I'll post thing. Thanks, Ren
  14. Argh! Trying hard here. You sent me that invite but I already have a discord account and when I tried to get into the invite page it shows my email as already being used. Yes! I'm using it but the server shows I have to claim my invite. Im trying to figure out how to get to the A4 server just by using my discord id... Thanks
  15. Fairly new guy here too so please bear with me as I'm having strange issues also. I downloaded the A4E-C, Herc, A29-B and the Gosshawk. All show up on my DCS beta startup but only the A29 actually lets me into the cockpit to fly. The other 3 let me chose them, launch in the sim (beta. I chose the a/c type and get briefing and hit fly. When it begins I get the map as I enter and all of the other keys work. Just not F1. The map shows planes flying (not I) and if I enter to a hot start or cold start (it doesn't matter) I'm not in the cockpit. It's like it does everything but give me "my" plane to fly. I originally had the early A4 that worked fine. I pulled the old folders before installing the new mod. So.... What's going on? Why did it allow me to install the A29 and it works fine? If I installed the other mods the same way why would I be prevented from actually jumping in the cockpit as in not assigning me a plane even though I chose it when I entered the server? Back in the '90's I flew the USMC A4M sim at NAS Memphis Marine Reserve VMF Squadron every Friday for a few years so I love flying that old bird. I'd sure like to figure this out so I can get back in it. Thanks, Ren

Thanks for a quick response. I would like to be able to use that lower center screen in color but it has so much yellow and blurry green in to I can't even see the HSI/info unless I use the black/green screen. I was looking at a training video on you tube made by the grim reapers. It was in their F18C Hornet multi lesson tutorial. I believe tutorial #2 shows the ampcd with color but it's sharply defined with just a little bit of green. I spent a 1/2 hour just trying to adjust contrast, brightness etc just to get rid of the huge yellow blur. I use a quest 2 including snap in lenses for eye correction that gives me a clear view of the gauges except for that color screen. Ren

New guy here and Im trying to understand a few of things from this old thread and in the game. 1. Why are all the flicks that were supposed to be showing the lower ampcd in this thread not available for viewing? 2. Why am I watching tutorials on youtube explaining the use of the ampcd showing the screens as white with black letters. 3. How can I change my F18C ampcd to that same white and black? After all people are using it in what appears to be those Lot20 F18's. The color screen that is currently in my jet is all but unreadable. Thanks for any help someone might be able to provide. Ren
