  1. Hi Everyone To begin with, merry Christmas to you all and advanced apologies if I am posting this note in the wrong area. I have a Thrustmaster Hotas Rudder Pedal, throttle and joystick. I am using the F-86 Sabre and am having issues with the mapping of the rudder pedals. I just can't get the system to correctly map the rudder pedals to the axis command rudder pedal mappings. I know that this must have come up previously but can't find a link via the search facility so I thought I would reach out for advice. When I use the rudder pedals the Sabre moves to the left / right and I can see the in-sim joystick moving and the throttle also seems to be moving. It looks like the mappings are clashing. Has anyone managed to map the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog rudder pedals (and the throttle and joystick) on to the F-86 correctly ? If so, can they explain how I can achieve the same results or possibly point me to an FAQ or a mugs guide ? Any help would be really gratefully received as I'm hoping to learn the F-86 over the Christmas holiday. Seasons Greetings to all Ed
  2. Hi All I am having issues with my Thrustamster HOTAS Warthog throttle. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that, when I open up the throttles, the speed dies back and when I close the, the speed increases ! i.e. they are doing the reverse of what they should be doing. I also use Microsoft Flight Simulator and IL2 and the same thing is happening there as well. I have checked the Windows 11 USB Game Controller Settings and it seems this is where the problem really is. When I look at the Thrustmaster throttle settings, they start being 100% open and when I move the throttle forward, the Windows 11 USB Game Controller starts to reduce i.e. it is doing the complete reverse of what it should be doing (I hope this makes sense). Has anyone found a similar issue and, if so, how did they manage to fix it. I should add that I can go in to each sim and invert the throttle setting but that doesn't seem to be the right things to although it does work. Any advice would be gratefully received. Many thanks, Ed
  3. Hi Razo and Rooster, Many thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to take a closer look at the free camera and the LCtrl functions to see if this gets closer to the walk around that I would like to do. All the best guys and thanks for replying, Ed
  4. Many thanks Razo and CobaltUK. Yes, I tried the eject option but couldn't figure out how to get back in to the aircraft short of exiting and restarting the session again. The F2 function works fine Cobalt but what I wanted to do was to emulate what a normal pilot would do as part of his/ her pre-flight checks. It's also a good excuse to have a close look at the DCS development teams eye for detail. Looks like I will have to stay with the F2 external view option. All the best, Ed
  5. Hi Everyone To begin with, Happy New Year to all of our DCS fliers and the DCS Development Team. I am trying to work out if it is possible to exit the aircraft that we have selected, walk around the aircraft freely and then get back in to the aircraft and re-take control. So far, I can view the aircraft but only from inside the cockpit. I'm sure that I have missed the trick here and would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. Many thanks, as always, in advance Ed
  6. Jonsky7 - Wow, Brilliant. Great video. Well done. Do you happen to know if we can change the music in the wallpaper screen in DCS. I changed the wallpaper to the Mosquito image which is brilliant but it would be great to change the music that goes with it to the 633 Squadron theme. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi Max Thank you so much for your reply. I've just tried it and it works perfectly. Brilliant. And now that I've tried the brakes on the pedals I'm going to follow your advice and assign the brake to a joystick button. Now all I have to do is take off. I'm on my 18th attempt and even with the wheel brake working properly, I just seem to veer off the runway and crash as soon as I throttle up ! I'm going to check and see if there are any advisories on YouTube. All the best and many, many thanks. You have saved me hours of research and I probably still wouldn't have found this fix. Ed
  8. Hi All I'm still having major issues with my Thrustmaster T.Flight Flight Rudder Pedals and the Spitfire IX bindings. The rudder pedals themselves bound nicley but I cannot for the life of me get the toe brake(s) to bind. I have upgraded to 2.7.2 and am trying to bind the brake(s) so that I can manoeuvre the aircraft when I am taxiing. I select Options from the main screen, select the Spitfire then search on 'Brake'. This brings up three options. Wheel Brakes, Wheel Brake Decrease and When Brake Increase. I select 'Wheel Brakes' then click on the box in the T-Rudder column. This brings up the Wheel Brake assignment panel and I click on 'Key / Button'. The system is waiting for me to bind the control but when I kick down on the rudder pedal / pedals , the system just doesn't budge. It's as if it doesn't recognise the brake movement option on the rudder pedal. I have been doing a lot of research on this and have removed the original windows 10 setup for the Thrustmaster pedals and then calibrated them using Thustmasters own Calibration tool. The calibration tool shows that all rudder functions are working perfectly so I assume that this has to be a DCS Spitfire IX issue. Do any members of this forum use the Spotfire IX with Thrustmaster T.Flight pedals and, if so, have you managed to bind the brakes properly. I'm pulling my hair out on this one and just can't seem to sort it out. Any help would be really gratefully received. Many thanks Ed
  9. Hi All I have received a reply from Konstantin at DCS and he has described how to set the trim prior to take off. Many thanks Konstantin. I'm posting his reply here to help others who may have experienced similar issues. Ed Hi : Konstantin Many thanks for getting back to me. Brilliant. It works. Thank you so much for sorting this out. I’ll post your reply on my request to help others who may be experiencing similar problems. Subject: Your ticket has been updated From: Konstantin Kharin Hello. Sorry for the delayed response if you run the mission as a start on the ground - the trimmer automatically adjusts to takeoff DCS F-86F Flight Manual EN.pdf from DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F-86\Doc\ 8.4. Before Take-off G e n e r a l I t e m s C h e c k 1. Check that the flaps are extended. 2. Check that the trim tabs are in the take-off position as follows: 2.1. Center the control stick. 2.2. Activate the position indicator [RCtrl + Enter] . 2.3. Set the elevator trim tab to take-off position by pressing and holding [RCtrl + ;]. The control stick position indicator will start slowly moving downwards. Also, the take-off trim DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR F-86F SABRE 274 position indicator light will glow briefly and then go out. When this occurrs, the elevator trim tab take-off position is set. 2.4. Set the aileron trim tab to the take-off position by pressing and holding [RCtrl + ,] or [RCtrl + /]. The control stick position indicator will start slowly moving right or left respectively. When the trim tab is in the take-off position, the take-off trim position indicator light will glow briefly and then go out. 10. Hi Lange_666 That's great, I wasn't sure how to raise awareness at DCS, that's really helpful. I have to say I'm really enjoying DCS and the Sabre. It's a brilliant sim and has become my favourite. Take care and thanks again for all of your help, All the best Ed
  11. Hi Lange_666 Many thanks for getting back to me. I have followed your suggestion and tried the Christen Eagle and you are absolutely right, the Controls Indicator is set centrally. So it must be something to do with the Sabre itself. Yes, that's a great idea. I played with the axis tuner before this mornings take off in the Sabre and it corrected the pitch-up issue. I wonder if it is worth reporting this to DCS ? Is there a way of reporting issues to the development team ? Anyway, thanks again for your help with this. I really enjoy the F-86 and following your advice, I'm up and running. All the best, Ed
  12. Hi Everyone Apologies if this has surfaced previously but I have checked and can't find a similar question. I have just purchased the F-86 Sabre and have Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog A-10C stick and Throttle controllers. I have followed Mags brilliant tutorials and bound the axis controllers successfully and everything seems to works well except.... The Pitch default setting brings the nose up sharply after take-off. I have done some research and found the reference to the Controller function. So, now, before I start flying, I bring up the controller and check to see how the Joystick appears to the system. In all cases, the diamond sits below the cross hairs (see attached screen shot). I can centre the Pitch function by trimming down from the joystick assigned 'Trim Down' function. However, the cross hairs in the controller schematic always seem to be about two thirds up the screen and I would have thought they should have been dead centre. I always calibrate the joystick through the windows usb controller function before starting DCS. So, is this what everyone else expects or should the controller function be showing a more central position for the pitch and roll function ? If anyone can either say that - that is the norm or point me in the right direction to show me how to adjust the joystick / controller configuration properly, then I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks Ed
  13. Absolutely. Admin - There's lots of interest in this from members in many countries. When does the Easter 2021 sale start ?
  14. Lockdown Question from the UK for our DCS Admin - Do you plan on having an Easter 2021 sale or is it likely that you will have a sale later on in 2021 ? Many thanks, Ed
