  1. I've read through a much of this thread and searched it, but I can't seem to figure out if this mission has a win condition. Can you effectively push the AI off the map? Do they get less aircraft if you push them back or is it more of just a skirmish mode?
  2. Awesome. Thanks for the clarity.
  3. I don't think most people care about if one aircraft can beat another, because any aircraft can beat any other aircraft given pilot skill and other circumstances. Rather, I think what people have concerns about is HOW the aircraft are winning. If you flew a WW2 sim and the BF-109 out turned a Spitfire there would be some raised eyebrows. I believe that's similar to what's happening here. Perhaps this will not be the case when ED does their final FM pass, so I remain optimistic. Can you address something I've seen popup from time to time, the suggestion that you are sandbagging the performance on various jets for security reasons?
  4. What are the odds of allowing the F-16 to carry the AIM-7, as it would make simulating some historical engagements more realistic. For example a friend and I are running an Israel vs Syria campaign in Liberation circa 1982. Not having the AIM-7 is kind of a bummer. I understand that the aircraft simulated is a USAF F-16C circa 2008 or thereabouts, but it appears that the USAF did in fact have the capability to use the AIM-7 on that aircraft, so it's not beyond the realm of reality. Reference this discussion: https://www.f-16.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57760
  5. I suppose that's possible, but the guy seems pretty sharp.
  6. Reference this video and timestamp. He pretty clearly states that you could put an HSI on an MFD in an older F-16. https://youtu.be/tfb2L-blz4Y?t=140
  7. Yes, the "EHSI". It's fairly inconvenient to use that tiny instrument due to size and location, and would make sense to be able to mirror it to an MFD. I ask, because an actual F-16 pilot mentioned that this is possible in the real aircraft.
  8. Ok. This is completely off-topic, but I noticed your avatar and all I can say is, "Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma!"
  9. There's a YouTube video with a pilot talking about putting the HSI on an MFD, so I assume this is a real thing. Will that be coming at some point in the future?
  10. It does seem pretty brutal. I see lower altitude datalink targets all the time now that I cannot see with the radar. I guess this is realistic?
  11. I understood the update perfectly well. I was asking an additional question, whether in reality F-16's are able to place DED information on the HMCS. But thanks for your answer anyway.
  12. So you can put the DED on the HUD, but can you put it on the HMCS either in reality and/or down the road in DCS?
  13. You could probably use JoyToKey and setup a toggle easily there. Now that someone has mentioned it, I think I'll do just that.
  14. It depends on what you want to do. The F-18 is a better all-around, ground attack focused aircraft. The JF-17 I would argue is better at BVR in that the SD-10 is a better missile than the Amram and the Jeff has much better avionics and situational awareness than the F-16. The JF-17 simply works as it should and is more reliable in BVR IMHO. Having said that, the F-16 is very fast and joy to fly. However, if you use VR, the small displays can be a bit of a PITA whereas the Jeff has all the information you need right there without pushing a button or squinting. The HOTAS functionality is marginally better in the Jeff. In summary, I'd say unless you have a thing for the F-16 like I do, I'd skip it for now. In a year I'm sure it'll be in much better shape, but right now, the F-18 and JF-17 are just far superior products.
  15. I guess I never realized that AI do not see clouds as in the past there were rarely enough clouds to make any difference. However now that they are substantial, it seems to me that the only way to play against the AI is to not have clouds turned on at all, otherwise in the merge you would almost always lose due to loss of vision on your adversary, unless completely clear of clouds. Am I wrong?
