  1. Here´s a bit about fine aiming and maneuvering with rudder in combat. Basic flight you don´t need it much at all in a jet except for landing and take-offs. Pedals are often overlooked, but very very useful to have. Z-Axis in a stick makes you prone for using rudder when you don´t want to, and when you do it eats the precision from the other stick axis. Pedals are pretty awesome to have, even if they don´t seem like the sexiest purchase at first.
  2. Oh it´s not my preference, just an observation of how things work with DCS. I would like the current birds to have more variants for sure, and as a ww2 standard i´d like to see an early, mid and late war variants + some theater specific variants, whichever of those are appropriate and significant. It´s really damn hard, if not impossible to era match these things otherwise, and DCS ww2 will always stay as a paper thin experience.
  3. Looking back at things, i guess this is what it comes down to. Unless it´s a different enough variation so you can sell it as a new plane, it´s not going to happen.
  4. It´s just one of those things.. It´s fun to have historically accurate loadouts, planes and ground stuff.. but the selection of everything is so all over the place, that it´s near impossible to create a historically accurate scenario to play with them. So on the other hand wohoo! accuracy! On the other hand, everything is a constant compromise. Reflecting on that.. unless you are on a personal vendetta, i guess as long as the tower and other important landmarks are clearly recognizable, that´s good enough. If we ever want to get to play the actual map and not have Ugra tweaking minor details until the end of time.
  5. This should help you, just instead of these settings, use Bartheks (or make your own.. i prefer very mild adjustments to improve the obvious faults of the game)
  6. I think most important is to just have anything you need in the air readily available. I´d check out Chucks guide to get basic mappings done, then play the tutorial missions and go from there. I´ve little by little done adjustments to my mappings when i´ve learned and understood more what i need and how often. Using a custom button box aswell though, so sharing my mappings wouldn´t help unfortunately. https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs/
  7. Okay.. so i´m starting to turn towards the "this will be a really cool map" direction.
  8. I just bought it couple damn weeks ago.. that´s just not right. Great that community is able to pick up though, even if i hate the damn thing myself. Couldn´t get consistent enough results after hours of trying, so i guess my mic and voice just aren´t made for voice recognition.
  9. I just hope that people understand multicore support will not be the holy grail many seem think it will be. It should improve things somewhat, but that's about it.
  10. Makes life a lot better with a 16:9 monitor. Huge improvement to fit all devices in the screen at once.. was a bit of a pita earlier. Might wanna try UI scaling if (i'd imagine this is a very rare situation) it made it harder for you.
  11. Yes! Makes it so much better to map controls.
  12. Sure i´ll live with that (i think it´s more in EDs hands anyway). Just saying it´s nothing extraordinary but more a standard practice in most platforms, unlike some seem to realise.
  13. As i mentioned earlier, this really is pretty much standard in software and games sales these days.. so it´s nothing extraordinary. Imo what´s discriminatory, is that one user has to pay average of months pay when someone else has to pay equal to 2 hours of work. This issue is widely recognized and there are measures taken to tackle this all over. It´s nothing new either, it has been done quite a few years now. I´m living in a country where it´s not lethal for me to buy a module or two, but there are a lot of honest hard working people living in countries where it´s literally a choice between "does my family eat or do i get a module i´d love to buy?". This is propably a discussion for a whole another topic, although it´s pretty hard to see why anyone would be against it. I guess it goes under jealousy thing, what it basically it always is when talking about fairness. Surely shouldn´t be jealous of ppl living in countries where money is hard to come by and worth much less, and most of their effort goes on survival? I´d feel compassion.
  14. Why not, would be a refreshing change.
  15. Reshade is the bees knees with DCS. With only minor adjustments it goes from "ok" looking to absolutely stunning.
  16. There´s usually a variety of missions with modules, from instant action to training missions.. and sometimes a campaign aswell. There´s also a file repository that will have a lot of free user made missions, some of them stunning quality. On top the mission editor is really good, so if you want to try something very specific, you can just build it yourself. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/
  17. It´s not a strawman. You are asking to give extra hassle a small minority has to deal with, for everyone. The reason being = You don´t want to have any extra hassle. What? You at least suggested a solution, even if it wasn´t a good one (imo).
  18. Here´s the deal. What´s the point of insisting that people who have more storage and better rigs shouldn´t have nice skins? Because people who aren´t as lucky have to go through couple extra steps to nurse their systems? All i can hear is this: "We can´t enjoy it, so no one should!". If i may be so blunt.. if you have a crappy pc, you should be very familiar with having to go through some extra hoops here and there. I´ve been there, and it never even occurred in my mind that i should take away something from others when i could sort it for me, myself. If it becomes "download as you like" thing, then it would quite literally give the same extra hassle for everyone.. and i bet the "can barely run this thing" rigs are a minority.
  19. That´s actually pretty standard practice these days with videogames so not that absurd.
  20. If ED doesn't know how a cockpit fov adjustment should work what hope there is? I'm pretty sure it works as intended, it's just not meant to be a proper fov adjustment. It does say "current fov" in the setting description after all.
