  1. Thanks for the responses chaps. Much appreciated. I going to go for the MiG15 based on these comments because I like a good flight model and the feeling that the module is very close to the real thing . The Sabre next after that. Cheers and thanks again
  2. Coming back to flight sims after a couple of years away. Now I would like to choose either the Sabre or the MiG15 because I love the jets of that era. I'm sure I will buy both in time, but for the first, which would you recommend? The main thing I like is stable, cool flying. I'm not hugely into dog-fighting , just like the aircraft ,navigation , and systems management. Any thoughts ? ..or MiG 21 for that matter ..
  3. How to take off and blow stuff up was my intro to DCS. Excellent effort and still a classic
  4. And if you do this, be aware that every update will over write it - so its good to keep a copy handy so you can change it back again after any update.
  5. The campaigns are quite difficult I found because there is a lot of SAM. You need to know how to deal with that. It seems we need to change our mission style to fly very conservatively to avoid getting killed in five minutes. I found this hard because I like to go in with guns blazing. There are plenty of user made campaigns , but they are usually heavy with SAM too. Its a lethal sky in DCS, but I believe that is realistic
  6. You bet , and I agree - its great that the sim caters for so many. I respect the guys that can do the complex systems .
  7. Well I find that learning and using the avionics is too much of a distraction from the flying. I might get semi-flamed for that, it's just my brain has only so much processing power. The BS has high tech guidance systems and advanced stability control, but it was easily learnable for me. The A-10c was just like a wall of information . Also you have the A-10a available which has simpler avionics but has the great new flight models. BTW the Su 25T has similar weapon guidance systems to the BS and is also a great ride.
  8. Didn't read the full thread, but if resources are zero sum then civilian takes away from blow things up modules. ( voted no )
  9. One thing though with the Frogfoot is that at the moment the laser guided missles hit way off target. As I understand it this is a bug. Not much point learning it until this is addressed. If you like helicopters then you will like the Black Shark . It remains the hands down best module in DCS for me. The autopilot/stability augmentation takes quite a lot to get used to, but it is worth it. Not seat of the pants like the Huey, but very nice to fly. I would skip the A-10c completely personally. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Fifi - great to see you here too. I recommend the Su25. It has a very nice flight model. To be honest I have trouble keeping up with the modules and all that is needed to fly them, but the Su25 is worth the effort.
  11. I get this message when I try to buy the Mi-8 I select everything right until I reach the cart then get the message that its empty. I tried getting to the cart in a few different ways and still the same message. Any ideas ? EDIT - found out why. I was ticking the purchase when /i should have just left it as was. Please remove the post - sorry
  12. Hueyman I read you're about to be a heli pilot - congratulations on that. Do you think they got the mi-8 'right" and the Huey ??
  13. Interesting . With the Huey I felt it was very 'light' - not much feeling of intertia. I was hoping with the Mi8 because its bigger that it might have that felling of inertia more.
  14. Huh , third party projects . Next time :music_whistling: So the start up seems OK. Is the flying cool, or is it really tough like the Huey?
  15. Any feedback on the Mi8 yet ? I dont see any. The chopper is available to fly isn't it ? Impressions , the good and the bad ...
  16. Excellent, thanks. Edit, just flew it and its really great. A huge help for new players coming in. I know these things are time consuming but if you have any plans to make another one ... it will be very well received I think .
  17. Well I have a FF2 and pedals and they weren't cheap. Also I dont play BF3 or Arma. I enjoy the seat of the pants feel. I really enjoy it - but almost all my time and energy goes into landing it without breaking it. I just don't believe that the real chopper had that rate of destruction. I appreciate the positive comments though and I'm not accustomed to complaining on forums, it just seems to me to be wrong.
  18. I don't believe it would be that unstable. So much effort to just land seems unlikely. Fingers crossed that it's looked at otherwise its a waste of money in my case. Too boring just trying to manage the thing.
  19. Battle of Stalingrad from 1C studios will cover a lot of this ground. I guess they are not the partner though. Seems like a bit of a double up to me
  20. This is an easy way to keep out of trouble. Level flight and then disengage auto pilot.
  21. Sorry for the dumb question :music_whistling: I thought it was too good to be true. Anyway it looks good. So the idea is fly the P51 against it for now . I see .
  22. Setting controls - How Do I do that ? I dont see it in the controls tab. I see it in the editor but cant seem to select it to be flown by the player. Any help appreciated
