    LAN Mode without Master Server Connection

    Summary so far

    Description

    Currently with DCS-A10C (1.1.0.6) the Master Server connection is necessary for playing the game in all multiplayer mode (also LAN). This issue has already been mentioned in the TechSupport thread but was closed by a moderator.

     

    Requirement

    Master Server connection is not necessary for LAN mode.

     

    Possible solutions

     

    1. Remove this connection completely for LAN mode
    2. If you connect to Master Server you can play the game the next 10 days in LAN mode without connection to Master Server.

     

    ! Note for all the other users (non-ED members) !

    Please do not use this thread to tell ED how angry you are because A-10C has this feature or your general concerns with copy protections. This issue has already been mentioned in the TechSupport thread but was closed by a moderator.

     

    Use this thread to tell ED that you also want this change (a simple "+1" post should be enough). Let's tell ED this way how much people wants this feature.

    If you have friends who want to buy this game but don't buy it because this master server issue add a +1 in your post for every friend.

    I've made some calculations from Post #1 to #240...

    I can't tell if you have mipmap on High quality or not.

     

    It is the way the Textures are handled at lower mipmap levels, the side panel become blurred, I get the same as you if I set Mipmap quality to anything below High Quality.

    I have a few fictional Swiss and Finish A-10C skins on my computer (look in the DCS Mods thread).

    But I'm waiting for Final release of DCS A-10C before releasing them.

    So if ED isn't changing a lot in the Final release I'll release my skins on the same day as the release is installed and tested on my computer ;-)

    My description above was how to add new skin files as a new skin in DCS.

    For finding and editing the DDS (2D skins) do the following:

     

    1. Go to the directory "...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Bazar\World\textures"
    2. Open the file "A-10.zip" with WinRAR or whatever you have
    3. Extract the files starting with "a-10c_81st fs(sp)_1-" to another directory
    4. you should now have 12 bmp.dds files (from "a" to "l")
    5. rename those files whatever you want (e.g. "MySkin-a.bmp.dds")
    6. In the newly created description.lua (see step by step above) rename the original file names to your file names
    7. Copy your edited skins to the directory "Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Bazar\TempTextures"
    8. Copy your description.lua as descriped above
    9. ENJOY your skin
