  1. I am glad to hear that it is not just me. I also agree that a log file should be error and ideally warning free upon release.
  2. Greetings, I have a small mission that I have been using as a test for FPS Improvements, especially with VR. After doing a number of settings changes and not seeing a lot of differences I decided to look at the DCS.log file to see if there was anything helpful in there. What I found is attached below. If you search for ERROR you will find some in the initial startup of DCS and more once the mission is running where it cannot find items for the map. I was surprised at these errors so on the advice of a squadron mate I uninstalled Normandy 2 the Channel Map and then reinstalled them. There was no difference. So I then completely uninstalled DCS and reinstalled it and all the modules I have purchased. Good thing I have a fast internet connection. I still see the same errors for missing items in the Normandy Map. Will this affect performance? I am expecting the log file to be free of errors before you would release a product. Is this an incorrect assumption on my part? One last thing, do you have any suggestions how to clear the errors of missing weapons and duplicate items before the mission loads? I am sending this to you to help make DCS better and I know how complex it can be to debug software. If there is more information that you need please let me know and I will gladly gather it and send it to you. For reference I have a AMD Ryzen 7800X3D with 64 GB or DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM and a Nvidia 4090. I run Windows 11. I recently upgraded from a AMD Ryzen 7700X with the hope that my FPS in VR on my Pimax Crystal would improve. I am not seeing as much improvement as I had hoped for. On my 4k monitor I do seem improvement and the CPU Frame Time and GPU Busy Frame Time are about equal using the Intel PresentMon tool. I am using Pimax XR and Quad Views Foveated Rendering. Any tips you could offer would be appreciated. Best Regards, Flatch dcs.log
  3. This morning I ran it with the Pimax Crystal as the video output. That changed the results and GPU Busy is what drives the frame times. I am hoping that once the new software is released to the public that will enable Dynamic Foveated Rendering I will be able to run at a steady 90 FPS or 11.1 ms frame time if you prefer. I am still very interested to read about anyone else's experiences running this new tool.
  4. I installed and ran this tool yesterday and saw some disturbing results. My GPU Busy was about 1/2 of the Frame Time. So I believe that tells me that I am very CPU limited. I have a Ryzen 7 7700X with 64 GB of RAM and a 4090 GPU. This was outputting to a 4K 120 Hz monitor. Has anyone else run this test. It was on a simple mission from Ford Field on the Channel map where I taxied out from a hangar in a P-51 and took off. Today I will do another test but this time I will output to a Pimax Crystal. I suspect that will change the comparison of the times. I will report those results as soon as I have them. What are other people seeing on their rigs? I am running the latest open beta in multithreading mode. Thanks.
  5. I have 7700x in an ASUS X670E-E motherboard with 64 GB of RAM and an MSI Liquid Suprim 4090. I am noticing some stuttering which is unexpected. I also notice using MSI Afterburner that Core 7 will get over 95% and that is when it stutters. Would replacing my 7700x with a 7800x3D help this enough to be noticeable? Do other people notice this and if so, are there things I can do to improve it? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi,

I have read the Thread on 7800x3D, 7900x3D, and 7950x3D.  I see where you upgrade from the 7700x to the 7800x3D.  In your post you said that CPU frame times went from 3.5 to 5.0 ms to 1.5 to 3.0 ms.  Then you mentioned that you might stick with the 7700x.  Later in the thread it appears that you kept the 7800x3d.

I am thinking of doing the same upgrade.  Do you recommend it?  My problem is stuttering in the MT version of DCS.  I can run the 7700x and 120hz, but there are some pretty bad stutters that I find very annoying.  Does the 7800x3D improve the stuttering?   What was your overall experince with the 7800x3D.

My current systems is an Asus ROG Strix X670E, AMD 7700x, 64 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM at CL 30, MSI Liquid Suprim RTX 4090, and a 2 TB PCIE Gen4.0 Drive.  I want to get a PCI Gen 5 drive when the MSI Spatium Pro's come out.

If you have any tips or trick to pass along to eliminate stuttering, I would be very grateful.  I have HAGS and Game Mode off.

Also, congratulations on your first child being born in April.  Our second son was born in April, 32 years ago.  Enjoy your time now they grow up amazingly fast.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Do you recall how much lower the frame times were?  I seem to have stuttering.  Did it help that?  Thanks.

I didn't have any stuttering with the 7700X and to be honest, other than a change in numbers on the graph, didn't notice any changes unless I turned off reprojection.

Without reprojection, I was hitting higher framerates on the X3D than the 7700X but it still wasn't fast enough where I could play super smooth. So I keep playing with reprojection on.

  7. I have found that the weapons systems status shows on the Kneeboard and not in the cockpit as the manual indicates. Oh well. I still cannot aim with my mouse. I do have it now so I can aim with the joystick whether I am using head tracking or not. That is an improvement. If anyone knows what I need to do to aim with the mouse the I would be grateful to learn that. I try RShift + T and that doesn't switch to the mouse. I disable the Tobii Tracking and that doesn't change anything.
  8. I tried flying the Huey after a few months absence. When I try to bring up the weapons systems hints with LCtrl + LShift + H nothing happens. Also when I try to aim a gun in either the operator or door gunner seat I cannot get it to use the mouse to aim. I hit RShift + T and nothing happens it still aims with my Tobii Eyetrack 5.0. When I disable my Tobii and hit RShift + T the image vibrates when I move the mouse. I am having a heck of time getting back into the ground attack mode. Am I doing something wrong or has my memory left me. I have the most recent open beta and I have trie this on two machines. I even did a Open Beta Repair on one of the machines to see if that did anything. I also uninstalled the Tobii software from the same machine and it still does respond as it used to. I appreciate any help the community can offer.
  9. It would also be very nice if we would have some statement or position paper on Eagle Dynamics Goals and Plans for Leap Motion Support. For example do they support the Stereo IR-170 as well as the original Leap Motion Controller.
  10. Thanks to RealDCSPilot it works much better with the native support. I am not sure it is ready for prime time yet, but it is pretty cool. Has anyone done this with the Stereo IR-170 instead of the Leap Motion Controller? That has more range, but I am not sure how well it works. The top of my desk does get in the way of some of the switches on my beloved Thunderbolt. Cheers!
  11. I got a Leap Motion Controller today and I have it working as a Valve Index Controller with the S-Draw Steam VR Driver. It doesn't seem to do as much as i expected. Do I need to have the Steam VR Driver installed or do I just install the Leap Motion SDK and have it run natively from DCS? I noticed that when I first tried to enable Leap Motion is said that in the VR Tab that Hand Controller had to be switched off. When I did that I lost my hands and controllers. This makes me think I have not installed the software correctly. When I run the leap visualizer is run very quickly and smoothly. When I do the Steam VR Driver is more jerky. It is also not possible to move the Fuel Tank Selector on the floor of the P-47 cockpit. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. I also have the Crosswinds Rudder Pedals from MFG-SIM. I think they are great. My old CH PRO Pedals failed after many years. I do have question for the group. In DCS I have set the Toe Brakes up as Invert, but I am not sure if they should be checked as a Slider or not. How does the groups set them up and what are the pros and cons of the Slider check box? Many Thanks in Advance. As you can imagine I am new to the game and my taxiing abilities leave a lot to be desired in the P-47 and especially the Spitfire.
  13. MAXsenna, I did do the MS Speech Training once. I will do it a few more times. That is a great idea about the Alias too. Thanks, Jimmer
  14. Hollywood, Hello, I am new to DCS and even newer to Vaicom Pro. I really like it and it helps add to immersion in the game. I did all the test words, which took awhile because I got the Chatter, and RIO bundle. I had a few words that the PC did not recognize so I switched to VPSX Processing. That corrected a lot of the problems. I had a few words left that I had trouble with so I went to the Windows Speech Dictionary as you suggested in your fine manual. The words I added were Detling, Descent, 10000, and JTAC. That has fixed almost all of my problems. But... I cannot get Descent 10000 to ever be recognized. It gives me the list of suggested phrases and I say the number of the correct answer and OK but then it still doesn't recognize that phrase. Do you have any suggested for me? I am from the Midwest USA so I don't think I have an accent ( I am sure everybody says that ) I have even had my son try that phrases and Windows does not like his voice either. I had one more question, should it be Descend instead of Descent? I think the opposite of Climb is Descend. But was not an English major at University. Thanks, Jim
  15. Bignewy, I entered a trouble ticket as you suggested yesterday. I have not heard anything regarding that. How long does it take for a response? The ticket is 114557. Thanks, Jimmer
  16. Maxsenna on my bill I paid $120 for the Hornet and the Super Carrier. Today I see the SC is still listed at $29.99, but it says I already have a license for this. I am still confused.
  17. Hello, Last night 12 June 2021 I put the Super Carrier and F-18C Module in my cart. This morning after thinking about it overnight I checked out. The price of the Super Carrier was $39.99 last night. Today I was just clicking around and I see that the Super Carrier has dropped to $29.99. I would like $10 back or that much credit towards my next purchase. The order number is 1247372. Please let me know about this. I didn't think I needed to redo my cart in a 12 hours period. Thanks, Jim
  18. Thank you all for the explanations. I especially like Grafspree's explanation of the reason for asymmetric thrust. I was not aware of that. Since I received my new rudder pedals last night I have turned off TO assistance on all planes and I am learning to dance on the rudder pedals and toe brakes during the take off run. I gain more respect for the pilots of these aircraft from so long ago.
  19. I did repeat the experiment and watched more closely. With Auto Rudder on and TO Assistance at 100% I can tap the throttle up until the Spit just starts to roll. RPM is still at 1,000 and Boost is at 0 PSIG. She will then roll off the runway to the left. Very disturbing. I think the Spit is overly sensitive to Torque Steer. I had heard stories about the real P-51 having a lot of torque steer and even being able to flip on the runway if the throttle was shoved all the way forward instantly. I didn't know the Spitfire was as bad as the P-51. In either case I think the model needs a little tweak.
  20. Actually I did not check my boost gauge, I know that if I open the throttle enough to start the Spit rolling down the runway. The same things happens with Auto Rudder set to off and TO Assistance set at 0%. It is nice to see that someone else has duplicated what I am seeing. The good news is my rudder pedals arrived early! Still it is something to look at.
  21. Yo-Yo, I understand. But with the Spitfire I can set at the end of the runway, set the RPM to 1200 and the Boost at 0 psig and it will veer to the left and the TO Assist cannot keep up even with that small amount of movement. Whereas with the P-51 and P-47 I can go to military power with the 1, 2, 3, count and it will stay on the runway. Can you duplicate this or am I doing something wrong? Fortunately my new rudder pedals should arrive by Monday. Thanks, Jimmer
  22. I have noticed that the Spitfire will not roll down the runway straight with Auto-Rudder and Take-Off Assistance set to 100% If I have the same settings on the P-47 or P-51 or TF-51 they will go straight down the runway until take-off. The Spitfire will veer off to the left of the runway as soon as it starts rolling. From an external view I see the rudder wiggling from side to side, but not making a strong enough correction. I notice that it will veer to the left even if you only have the throttle set just above idle, around 1,200 RPM and no boost. The mission I am running is the Caucus Region Take-Off. I can provide a track of this if needed. I am running the 2.7 Open Beta with the Game Mode Flight Model Enabled. I am a very new player and my old rudder pedals broke so I am forced to this option until my new pedals arrive. Is there something I am overlooking on the Spit? It was the first module that I bought and I am extremely found of it, once I am in the air. I am very curious why my other Warbirds will perform acceptable on take-off and the Spit does not.
