  1. You might be right, but I'll see how it goes...
  2. It is my understanding that AMD had a crossfirex brand that allows you to tie two graphics cards together and improve the performance. I am assuming that means combining the gddr capability, but not positive. I know they stopped that brand in 2017, and it only supports up to directx 11, but their software a,lows 6ku to manage the displays yourself. Their replacement for the crossfirex does support directx 12, but they left the software management to the game developers which it sounds like the DCS team did not do.
  3. Thanks for your input! Can you please elaborate on what you mean by more detail for manufacturing? Yes, I am planning on combining 2 and 3 panels together in two groups. The ground power and the external lights as one group, and the fuel, fcs and volume/iff as another, specifically for the PCB. The front plates will be separate and I can do the backlight/mounting plates separateas well. I figure if the PCB becomes an issue, I can re do them separately, but for the first attempt, I want to try combined. The 3 in one machine I am getting can handle pieces up to 13" x 14", so why not give it a shot. Plus there is a learning curve that needs to be overcome...
  4. Greetings all, Hopefully this works, so here goes: I am attaching a PDF file of the left console I have created in AutoCad and I wanted to see what everyone thought. I have made a few changes to what the orignal is so I would like to hear your opinions. I intend to start building the panels as soon as I get my 3 in one laser engraver/3D printer/CNC machine. If anyone is interested, I will keep you posted of my progress: left console.pdf I have also included a PNG file that will hopefully appear here without having to download... (maybe not lol)
  5. ok, i'll ask... what display screens are you using for those MFD's? are they USB?
  6. I see what you are doing with the 27" monitor. My concern is that it goes below the IFEI interface which is where I wanted to end that part of the front consol (or Main instrument panel.) Actually I was planning on making the front consol in two parts, the upper part being the DDI's and the UFC (along with the tow smaller panels to the outside of the DDI's) but if I can't do them seperatly, I might have to modify the Front consol to use the 27" monitor... We'll see how it goes. thanks for your input!! It helps a bunch!!
  7. I would guess they are 8.4" with a 800x600 resolution. I can only find one made by Tianma but can't find anyone that has them for sale. the best i can find is: https://www.topwaydisplay.com/product/tft-lcd/tft-lcd-module-TM084SDHG02 let me know if you find any more information. I can't tell if it comes with a controller card or not. I find those on mouser, but I'm not sure if they are USB or not. https://octopart.com/ptpw04-084svks01-tianma-59345998 found another source: https://www.lcds-center.com/product_NLT_NL8060BC21-11KG.html
  8. you should really checkout http://www.thewarthogproject.com and see what he has done. it is beyond awesome, and he has several videos on how he made his UFC for the A-10C along with the MFDs. this guy is a genius!!
  9. that's fine for an A-10 like you are building (which looks like an awesome start by the way,) but i want to do an F18C which is not easy to do with a single MIP. I really want to use 3 seperate ones... by the way, what is the diamater of your screen? i want mine to be 9 1/2 feet diamater...
  10. thank you. after looking into them a bit deeper, i have come to realize that people are using monitors with them, so now my question is about the monitors that are used with the thrustmaster mfd's... thanks just to clarify, i am planning on using 3 projectors for my main screen on a 270 degree screen, so i would need more outputs for the MFD's (or in the case of the F18, DDI's) but i was curious if using usb based monitors would need to run through a video card or would they be usable through the usb?
  11. hello Ben, I'm just curious as to what video card you are using? I am looking to build my system, and if the DDI's need HDMI ports, then i will need a card that can support 6 monitors since i intend to use a 270 degree main monitor (projectors) setup using 3 of the Displayports (or more correctly using a splitter, but I understand the software for doing that can only do up to 3 additional monitors.)
  12. not sure if this is what his question is, but it is one I would like to know anyway. since the Thrustmaster MFD's are USB based, does that mean they do not need to hook up to the video card and Helios will still output to them since Windows still identifies them as secondary monitors?
  13. I am looking to start building my own F/A 18C simpit and have a few questions. 1. This might be a noob question put in a noob manner, but how do you output the DDI's from the computer. I understand that they are the Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's and they are USB controled, so does that mean they are not going to your video card and all the outputs that i need on my card are for the actual number of main screens i intend to use? (i have not even chosen the video card that I am going to use yet which is why i'm asking... I know they are all on backorder and it will take a month or two to get one, but that's how it goes...) 2. Are you using Helios to display the MFD's? 3. Why the Aurduino Leonardo instead of say the UNO or the Mega? 4. Not sure if i missed this one, but are you mapping all the buttons/switches in DCS directly, or are you using DCS BOIS to handle that? (P.S. oh hey!! look!! my first post on these forums!!)
