  1. Can you explain why he many times immediately switches to RWS (for no apparent reason) after firing a Phoenix or why he repeatedly keeps switching back to RWS immediately after I tell him to use TWS. If I jump to the backseat and turn on TWS, I have a good track that holds - but when you jump back upfront, Jester immediately switches back to RWS again. Super frustrating! BTW - I'm only doing single player, if that matters!
  2. I'm talking when still outside of range for PAL etc., - I can see contrails far off - yet Jester has the scope clean in TWS or keeps switching to RWS or does get tracks in TWS but immediately switches to RWS as soon as I launch the Phoenixes and the missiles go stupid. This incredibly frustrating and is more recent behavior - hard to enjoy DCS when they seem to keep breaking things that were working fine. I'm taking a break from the Tomcat for now until they get this crap sorted out...
  3. Jester sucks alot of the time - still switching to RWS after a Phoenix launch for no reason and cant seem to find targets that I can see visually straight ahead. I wish the commands we give him would stick until we tell him otherwise - but I can tell him to go to TWS and a few seconds later he just switches back to RWS on his own. WTF? Really starting to take a bit of the shine off of this module for me. Time to dive into some other aircraft as I'm frustrated with Jester and the lack of control over targeting.
  4. Thanks - i will try the TrackIR again and see if I can get used to it, but really looking forward to VR when the Reverb G2 arrives. I just got an email from HP yesterday saying that the wait was almost over - so should be soon!
  5. Thanks - great info! I will try that out.
  6. I thought they were closer but, From what I see online the F14 came out of a Navy contract for an advanced fighter design in awarded to Grumman 1966 while The F15 looks like it came out of a contract in 1969. I guess those 3 years and the foundations that the plane were based on made the difference - too bad as the F14 with a cleaner forward view and better HUD would have been a nice upgrade (I see the Super Tomcat 21 renderings had that)! It's still a great plane and I am enjoying learning how to fly it in DCS - VERY different handling characteristics than the other aircraft. My Thrustmaster TPP pedals are definitely getting a workout with it!
  7. That's what I'm hoping - thanks!
  8. Not the last 10 years - I've only started playing DCS a few months ago after I built a new computer to handle it. I'll give Track IR some more time, but hoping my Reverb G2 shows up in the next month as I Think VR will be more natural feeling. Was just an observation/rant after trying other aircraft with better forward visibility - it makes it FAR easier! I'm still loving the F14 and practice will make better I'm sure!
  9. What was Grumman thinking when they designed the canopy/front windscreen? Clearly not close-in dog fighting as you constantly loose the enemy in the frames when in close - it is INCREDIBLY frustrating when you can't tell which way he is maneuvering. It makes it so much harder (and seemingly unnecessarily so) to dogfight than the windscreen designs of contemporaries like the F15. I'm surprised they never changed that design over the 30 year service life as it would have made a huge difference - I guess the fact that they didn't reflects what they felt was the true mission? Damn shame, though... Any tricks to try working around this? I'm hoping VR in the Reverb G2 might help to be able change head position to look around this mess mighty help keep sight a bit more? I've tried TrackIR but just find it very unnatural/disorienting so far - so not using it much.
  10. Uhm... thanks for the sarcasm, but if that's what's considered "fixed", I'm amazed as it's still really hard to see it's even on - the indexer is incredibly dim whether it's illuminated by daylight or not. How come I can see the nearby nose wheel steering light easily in bright sunlight but the indexer right next to it seems barely illuminated by comparison? Why not give an option to make it brighter to alleviate the limitations of the game for those that want to actually see it/use it more easily?
  11. Has ED or Heatblur acknowledged the issue and responded with planned fixes . It is a MAJOR issue with the product at present and really tarnishes the immersion of the F14 experience when coming back to land.
  12. Finally finished my new computer and getting into DCS and the wonderful Heatblur F14B. However, I'm really struggling to see the AOA indexer on the left side next to the HUD. Am I doing something wrong with settings or is there a major BUG with the AOA indexer lighting? I have the indexer dial on the right console at it's brightest setting (9) - but the Indexer is so dim that it is unreadable. The other lights like the nose wheel steering indicator light are fine (though that was crazy dim before the last update too)- it's just the indexer. Since the HUD e-bracket update is so slow that it is not advised to be used, managing on-speed on approach is almost impossible as there is no visible indication that you can actually follow. It's sort of ruining an otherwise great experience for me! Can anyone help? Thanks!
  13. and these mean what???
