  1. Thanks. It's been over a year since trying the game. Last time around even the ground to ground long range missiles in Combined Arms pack weren't dropping anything but single units. Spoiled I wanted ammo trucks and communications set up so a command unit in AI could call for fire. Now I 'm also hoping there are incendiary rounds for artillery so I can throw some showering screens over the snow at night to get a real cool effect when ground pounding the front. Kind of hoping the game gets a detailed Ukraine region battlefield after all of the hi resolution imagery even online satellites have been publishing.
  2. Haven't been in the game for a long time but it would be nice to see an artillery ammo selection of air burst incendiary rounds for a game of snow on the ground at night with incendiary flares spreading out across the sky. Wouldn't want the game to be hanging behind the times Make it easy so altitude of burst is set not having to calculate the time to get a full airtime of the incendiaries. I think it would look pretty glimmering on the snow or on lakes
  3. I'd like to see a Combined Arms User Manual in the Downloads Documentation section that includes what vehicles are needed to compliment AA and AAA missile systems. Would be nice if the game menu included picking a system and all required vehicles are placed on the selected position. Then the concerned equipment could be spread out. Might as well add in a commo wire truck for running coms wires.
  4. Any realistic fix would have to include battery drain and selections of what equipment is still tuned on. Then there is vehicle heat adjusted for outside ambient temps and winds for calculating what IR views see. Throw in hand cranking to save battery life if the vehicle is so equipped You would be amazed how battery life drops running everything off the batteries only. I guess be happy a little computer noise is the only annoying thing you have found killing make believe enemies. Seems that's all even the modern wars are now these days. I figure everyone would love dragging slave cables around to plug into vehicles for a battery jump. Then throw in the realistic having to have a proper adapter for mating some vehicles in inventory. The game is trying to be realistic so going by the realistic view of things making those adjustments would keep software developers busy for a while. Hehehee then regardless guys would complain about their batteries went dead and nobody is around to jump them. I'm not trying to harrass your idea. Just daydreaming away at all the problems you have to see in the future like be sure to have all your vehicles running cranking up 15 minutes or so before you jump from a position so there is time to jump dead batteries. Believe me it isn't a click to solve. It would be interesting to see if any game adjustments would include positioning of vehicles and their standard slave cable lengths to calculate a battery jumping accomplishments.
  5. You could try having AI planes fly near the ships so they eat up the ship ammo before you get into the altered range of ships zone. They'll have less ammo but I don't think you can alter the range of the missiles so those missiles are yours to enjoy all the way out to their max range
  6. Haven't used the game for weeks but I'll check that out. Never seen the option on game servers. What's really disappointing is the game not having an instructions PDF including complements of vehicles needed for air defense like launchers and their needed radars, fire control vehicles and reload vehicles. Depending on youtube videos if uninformed stabs in the dark at times is an awful way to learn wasting a hallf hour suffering through at least one of the video makers characters. :)
  7. Normal artillery on first firing the one gun that is the base piece fires one long then one short for what's calculated for the given coordinate. Then one for center. If the center one is close enough and more are needed it's maybe 3 rounds or so depending on the threat or suppression needed with however many guns are wanted. You could try something like that as your adjust fire then let loose with the flying steel show. I don't know if the game plays the winds aloft into flights but that might be part of your problem which could bee solved by the above procedures. Artillery batallions have a meteorological unit for weather/winds in the HQ or Service group. Maybe the game plays you need a group like that instead of a bunch of guns out firing without even a sliderule for powder charges used.
  8. Most current game in mission editor setting a bomb target loading the bombs and all but the B-52 fly to the nearest airfield in UAE and land. Guess I'll try youtube. When I set the target I click on building at an airfield not any added war vehicles. Had the set target in UAE and the planes don't even fly to the set airfield to bomb. Wanted to get a look at a bomb run and only got them landing.
  9. Maybe it's like some SAM's. Any chance a Fire Direction Control (FDC) or Tactical Operation Center (TOC) vehicle is required?
  10. Possibly viewing fron the commanders position not gunners? From commanders it would be commands to tell the gunner where to fire. in the gunners position what you sight on is what you fire on. Of course I don't know how the Bradley's are set up for what positions are available. There are keys for moving between positions.
  11. Doesn't matter which way I'd prefer it. It's what the game designers figure they would want. Although a seperate group could make a module either a player could fly from an airfield or use in CA. It's up to those guys not the daydreamer.
  12. I've thought about trying it. You could attack and keep the civilian aircraft between you and the SAMs. Seems to be the thing for some around Syria. One problem is if simulating a war start the civilian aircraft would have to have AI directions to clear the area. Then there's would all radio traffic be jammed already when the war starts. Ho hum.
  13. Not sure if it's been suggested already to add drones to ground forces capabilities. It could solve arty fire observation and targeting. The whole gambit of intel collection to figure out the phase lines also. For motivation make it a Combined Arms feature so it would sell more to guys wanting to blast away flying around. The self stabilizing and FLIR couldn't be resisted.
  14. I've seen a 50 on a hummer but normally CAV can have some hummers with TOW's. The back of the battery box under the passenger seat has accommodations for passing power to the system,
  15. I noticed that messing with the Persia map. Maybe it's extra salty water. I thought it was funny because the anti air gun still fired. Great way to have a land assault. Never tried to see if the vehicles would transit the ocean. Probably would run out of fuel anyway.
  16. Maybe give waypoints out of where the plane is triggered along with cancelling the red condition. You can say cease fire but if he's reurn fire or condition red he's going after what's there. There's also his trigger area but I'm not sure if it's editable. Good luck.
  17. Thanks guys. It's a difference from having things in plain sight to function than to be dabbling two finger routines on a keyboard with no actual labeling on the keyboard unless making a template for each aircraft. It's not like real flight finger wrestling functions till the common ones become memory. Wasn't planning to be a dedicated every day sim player to acquire an easy memory. One problem I've noticed is the Acer Helios's right Alt Gr key doesn't function as a regular right Alt the game menu suggest. That's one fix I'd like to see where the game recognizes Helios has a weird thing going on. Guess I'll go browse on how to disable the Alt Gr mode. Thanks for whatever.
  18. Checklists for starting and weapons controls by using the keyboard would be nice. Not everyone has opted to go big screen or fancy switches joysticks. There would probably be many more users of DCS if it wasn't a hassle of making so many different switch changes required. In Combined Arms and map editing maybe drawing sectors for which units are controllable or designating them as a certain individuals or groups command. I had zero confusion getting my commercial pilot license but this DCS stuff for just playing around is making things more of a problem than things really are. Still haven't spotted any way to make a button cycle between air a ground weapons then their types.
  19. If there's an in game NDB next to the intended airport you can make your own non precision approach. Fly over the beacon at a back azimuth of the airfield go out a minute on that bearing then 45 degrees for a minute keeping heading by adjusting for wind for a minute then make a 15 degree banked turn for a 180 turn. Once completing the 180 start letting down. This heading you stick to for a minute watching for the beacon to be at the runway heading which will be at 45 degrees when you get there. Plan your let down so it works out good for getting down. FAA is picky about the decision height but I don't think they'll mind you busting an altitude. I figure it will work unless the F5 doesn't have ADF nav gear. If waypoint's are available set waypoint's to use and assign yourself altitudes. If lucky you can be your own FAA
