  1. Definitely going to give the Quest 3 a try. I've used a Quest 2 a lot for DCS, and a year ago upgraded to a Pimax 8Kx. To be completely honest, I have been disappointed with the Pimax. The only thing I feel like I gained when going from the Quest 2 to the Pimax was the wide FOV. The image quality in the sweet spot of the Pimax is okay, but not as good as I expected it would be, and that sweet spot is pretty small and hard to keep centered due to the weigt of the Pimax. Youtubers that got to try the Quest 3 are reporting a very noticeable improvement in image quality over the Quest 2, and with the pancake lenses, the "sweet spot" is a large area, apparently most of the viewable area. Add in the large library of games, many of which I already own because of the Quest 2, and I think it's a great value for 500 dollars. I will miss the Pimax wide FOV, but am ready to give something else a try.
  2. Launching DCS in VR mode with MultiThreading was failing, with it locking up in the loading screen. Like Lobo says above, updating my OpenXR Toolkit to 1.2.4 seems to have fixed that issue. After updating that, I can now run the Multi Thread version, using PimaxXR and OpenComposite. My headset is a Pimax 8Kx.It launches and I made it into a MP server as a test. It does seem to have increased framerates some. I noticed that when running it in MT mode with the frame rate counter on, there is now a message on the frame rate counter that will say either CPU bound or GPU bound. When in game, on Grayflag PG server, sitting on the ground in a cold Apache, it was quickly alternating between those two messages. However, it is unplayable due to head tracking issues. Can't really describe it well, it seems that when in MT mode, headtracking is having problems. Seems to be stuttering or fluctuating somehow. It was bad to the point where I had to pull my headset off to avoid motion sickness. To verify that the tracking problem was related to MT mode, I then launched DCS in normal VR mode, again using PimaxXR and OpenComposite, and everything was fine. Head tracking was solid.
  3. To Pimax users - I now have a working Pimax 8Kx headset in OpenBeta again. I reinstalled OpenComposite (because I had deleted it completely while trying to troubleshoot what the patch broke) I have updated PimaxXR to v0.3.0 I am now launching DCS from within the Pitool, under the My Games tab. There are no command line switches. I was just in on a multiplay server for about an hour and had no problems. Basically, I'm right back to what I had before these patches. Edit - forgot to mention, I completely got rid of the OpenXR toolkit. Don't know if that made any difference. Had it installed before the patches, but removed it as part of my troubleshooting efforts, and have not reinstalled it. To the guy who pointed out that we are "open beta testers"....that's true, and always has been, if you run openbeta. Unfortunately, due to the structure of DCS, pretty much everybody runs openbeta and that actually makes us the main customer base. So you can declare that we have no room to complain, or face the reality that we are the main customers of DCS and just spent a lot of hours and frustration trying to recover from something that we didn't even see coming. Personally, I don't like what just happened over the last three days.
  4. Pimax 8Kx using PimaxXR here. Using DCS OpenXR by forcing it on with the command line = game crash within 5 minutes in multiplay. Guess I'll start using OpenComposite again. Hope it works now. Either that or just play MSFS for a while. I appreciate what ED is trying to do by implementing OpenXR, but slipping it in unannounced and apparently untested, and breaking VR for many users was a very poor decision. Maybe it's just easier, cheaper, or quicker to put it in, let the player base "test" it, and see where it's at after the dust settles. I don't believe for a second that a huge change like this "slipped under my radar" or whatever was said.
  5. I use a Pimax 8Kx, and am using PimaxXR. My game seems to be working well. Haven't spent much time in-game yet, but it loads and lets me in, and seems to be running very smoothly. I think I saw it mentioned earlier in this thread, but its worth repeating - the key to getting it to work with PimaxXR was to update to the latest version, which is v0.3.0. I worked for a couple of hours last night trying to get it to work with no luck, but when I updated PimaxXR, it went right in.
  6. Hello all. Never posted here before, but love DCS and like making videos of it, so I wanted to share a video I just made of some A2A refueling practice a couple of us did yesterday. Please offer any feedback you'd like, and if you like the video, please subscribe. Thanks!
