  1. Yes, but tools like dcs the way helps remember in DCS we do not have the latest MFDs employed by the US and Israel.. I am sure they have all that built in by now. Sent from my ELE-L29 using Tapatalk
  2. 100% took myself three years to be very comfortable with the f 16,now everything is a pleasure. Next challenge apache. Sent from my ELE-L29 using Tapatalk
  3. What you can do is use Markpoints steerpoint 26+ And change the input from HUD - seq right until you see OFLY (for overfly) then TMS UP. Remember to 0-MSEL to make the markpoint your new steerpoint <-- that you can then use to navigate back to your airbase I use this when I want to take-off and fly back to my airbase to do things like boresight mavericks to a vehicle close to my airbase etc. But that other option is to use an app called DCS The Way aronCiucu/DCSTheWay: Imports waypoints from DCS F10 map into the plane navigation system, like a Data Transfer Cartidge. 4. Thank you for all the advice. I have since changed my Curvature to 35 + and dead-zone on my stick to 5 This has helped and I have to trim and trim and trim, so still learning that a normal stick jumps to center and on the helo you want to force trim to keep the trim position of the cyclic, this has helped me a lot. Landing is another thing I must perfect, can do it now, but it takes me several minutes to put the Apache softly and safely on the ground. Whenever I charge in too fast reducing collective I end up in a horrible situation.
  5. okay, i will send a track or next time try and summarise this more clearly ...
  6. Hi I have started to learn the AH-64 However, I recently came across the follow problem. When I am flying, say 140knts at an altitude of around 800feet, collective set to +- 78% Copilot seems to think I am experiencing a retreating blade stall, is this leading me in the right direction? next time I will reduce the engine power to 80% and see if that keeps the altitude? The phenomenon you’re experiencing is likely due to a condition known as retreating blade stall1. This occurs when the helicopter’s forward speed decreases to zero, causing the retreating blade to stall1. In forward flight, the advancing blade (the one moving into the wind) generates more lift than the retreating blade (the one moving away from the wind). This is due to the combined speed of the helicopter and the rotational speed of the blade. However, when the helicopter slows down to 0 kts, the retreating blade’s relative wind speed decreases, reducing its lift1. At the same time, the angle of attack on the retreating blade increases to compensate for the loss of lift. If the angle of attack exceeds the critical angle, the retreating blade stalls1. This can cause the helicopter to start falling and shaking, as you’ve experienced. To recover from a retreating blade stall, you would typically need to reduce power, which decreases the angle of attack on the retreating blade and helps it regain lift1. It’s important to note that this is a complex aerodynamic phenomenon and can be influenced by various factors, including altitude, temperature, and the helicopter’s weight1.
  7. mmm does not seem to be purely a case that when my collective is 50% < that it will engage... it is engaging (the ALT hold) more frequently now that I use lower collective, but does not seem to be purely related to collective %?
  8. Hi thank you! I noticed around 50% torque (assuming you mean) collective? when I push up the collective to around 60% + it disengages! thanks! very new to learning the AH 64 ...
  9. Hi I can get Attitude Hold (AT) to work and it shows up on the console. However, Altitude Hold (AL) does not appear on the console and does not appear to engage? What parameters must I be flying for (AL) Altitude Hold to engage?
  10. Hi I installed the Caucus terrain and now my training missions are all visible again. Thanks, do you guys know where I can find training missions on other terrains for the F-16 and Apache?
  11. Hi I have the latest 22 Feb 2024 DCS World installed. But there are no training missions available for my F-16 and Apache modules? Must I install Caucus map? With the following terrains and modules Terrains Nevada Synai Syria Modules F-16 Apache Other Combined Arms
  12. This is interesting. In the past we likely relied on the TGP too much, but after reading posts about using Mavericks for several years ... it is becoming more apparent that we must use the WPN page of the maverick for the final lock on prior to engaging. However, why it may become a bit gray is where we use the forced correlation mode, to lock on to an 'area' and not a specific target. This is typically done with the larger warhead variants G and K, as well as the smaller warhead H variant. From what I have read the force correlation / area track mode should only be used for very large targets such as ships or a large building complex, when you want to hit a specific point on that large object. So we must try and use the WPN page in other engagements, to ensure we lock on the the target properly . Is it then correct of me to assume that we must use the TGP to identify target locations at very long range, move in closer, then make use of the WPN page for final corrections, lock on, prior to rifling? I have mostly used the TGP and did not pay much attention to using the WPN page, it usually auto locked on fine and I only used it to TMS left twice for area track mode when I do not require a very specific lock-on, just to get the missle fired in the general direction using G, K and H variants.
  13. 100%, I always keep an eye on the AOA at 11 degrees, forgot to mention that important part of the landing
  14. That is interesting, on longer runways I manage to land smoothly at just under 200kts, but on touchdown immediately further extend the speedbrakes, lift the nose for some aerodynamic slowdown until just under 100kts and then start applying wheel brakes. not perfect and as I mentioned works on long enough runways, but on shorter runways you want to touchdown 180 or less. remember, when gear is down, the speed brake does not fully extend, but if you hold down the speed brake extend key then it will fully extend. this is to prevent the speed brakes scraping the runway on touch down, but you can force it to extend fully until just prior to touch down, by keeping the extend key pressed, this helps a bit in slowing down the aircraft, then after touchdown you can again force a full extend.
  15. Thank you, I also remember now that in the F10 map view one can cycle through coordinate systems in the top left corner - until you see the same MGRS format, and then the 36R grid (GZD) appears for the Synai map, and different ones for other maps and grid locations.
