  1. Vulkan changed VR in my X-Plane 11 from unusable 20fps stutter to a super smooth 80Hz (Index) running at 300% super resolution. Same hardware, nvidia card. It just shows how ridiculously underused the modern hardware has been in flight simulators. As much as I love DCS and it's quality add-ons, I will have to wait for the Vulkan update to make further purchases, as I only fly in VR. If the improvement from Vulkan API in DCS is going to be anything like in X-Plane, it's going to be good times!
  2. Thanks. I will try it with one station first. I did some testing and when checking the six o’clock position the side of the headset should still be pointing slightly towards the base station. So if that is enough to keep tracking, it might work for my purpose. Since you pointed out that the controller is needed I guess I will buy the first gen HTC Vive controller for that purpose. You can get one for a relatively cheap price these days.
  3. Does the SteamVR in-app menu work with an xbox controller? If I only get one 1.0 base station and one vive controller, will the headset connect and run normally or will it give some error and refuse to run if it does not detect the other base station and controller?
  4. One base station should be enough for headtracking in flight sims I believe. However, will it be possible to do the initial setup (center head position etc.) without the controllers and only one base station? If I get the headset + one base station I would hate to see it not allowing me to set it up or use it because the controllers are missing. :P
  5. Yeah I saw the software fix they are working on, but a lot of users still report the problem persists.
  6. Hello, I am considering getting the Index (just the headset and one base station for flight sim use only). I have noticed in many forums that users are complaining about some sort of vertical lines (or banding) issue with the displays, that seems to appear mostly when the scene is moving. Some claim that they exchanged their headset to a new one that also had this problem. Since I trust the flight sim community more than anything, I was wondering if there are any Index users here that have noticed this issue, and if so, how much does it really break the immersion? And do you think it's a hardware issue or more of a software related one? Or perhaps it's just how the LCD panels work normally? Maybe all LCD headsets have this artifact to some extent?
  7. This is probably a rather dumb question, but will the Normandy map be usable with all DCS aircraft, or is it limited to the WW2-era planes?
  8. Many thanks for all the help, but for some reason in my DCS v2 (latest build) I cannot get this to work, even though I did everything exactly as shown above. Maybe something has changed in the DCS code along the way? In windows calibration, both of the pedals show as slider and everything correctly calibrated.
  9. Hello, I have pedals I would like to use for a helicopter where each pedal has a separate axis, both showing up as a slider. I could not find any way to set this up in the DCS settings, so does anyone here know of any workaround on how to set up the axis for this kind of setup?
  10. I also got a 10 cm extension a while ago, and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting to get more precision out of their WH! The 10 cm stick has been precise enough for me to do all kinds of flying, even realistic helicopters such as Huey and certain X-Plane helicopters. I can still feel the stick force enough to tell where the stick is, but it's clearly a lighter force, obviously.
  11. As it seems that DCS 2.0 is not too far from being released to the public, I would like to know will the data export work the same way as in the current version? For things like Helios and exporting the MFDs etc. Also, will the monitor config scripts remain the same?
