This would be very reasonable, I hope this is implemented.

Because I don't care for bells and whistles, I don't care to pretend I'm in Top Gun and I don't care for static templates on carrier decks. I just want to land and take off from a carrier and be able to use a feature that I paid for already.

You say 'unlikely to want to use ACLS.' What if we want to use it though? Not trying to quarrel but wondering what you mean.

Perhaps you didn't install it correctly, you should immediately notice the lower resolution textures in the cockpit. Doesn't matter what quality level you set the textures to in the settings menu, the Apache textures are edited by the mod directly. It needs to be installed in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries

There's a mod that can help address this issue, search for 'AH64 Downscaled (Reduced) Cockpit)' in the user files section. It lowers the 4k textures down to 2k and also removes mipmaps from them, this ensures that even if you run on low textures the gauges etc will maintain their legibility without becoming blurry.

I've been editing this file today and can confirm it doesn't seem to change anything. I wanted to start by setting the radar alt to off instead of the default 5000 to make prepping the hornet less tedious, along with other little changes (HMD brightness 100% and rwr on by default to name a few). My best guess is that the waypoint start type predetermines how these settings get configured, I'll keep digging and see if I can find anything that aludes to this. Another thought was that the auto start sequence might be affecting this (rwr is not turned on during the auto start sequence) but I mostly use air starts and the rwr is always on by default on those. PM me if you find anything interesting.

I was under the impression that switching seats in a server was not possible in DCS, except for in the gazelle and whatever else can do it as of now. Glad to hear we'll be able to do it in the Apache then.
