  1. I can't say for sure when the Radalt would show in the Viper, but I can say that they only usually work to a max alt of 2500ft. It's not a major issue obviously but just another little addition to the realism. Cheers, Dr Spanklle
  2. You absolutely cannot use NCTR in any other aspect than within a certain degree of nose to nose. Furthermore, it doesn't necessarily need to 'see' the compressor blades - rather it needs to detect the JEM (Jet Engine Modulation) unique to each engine/airframe combination. DCS is attempting to model something that is highly classified, so it's not worth worrying about how accurate it is doing this when no-one is ever going to be willing to confirm the accuracy of the modelling. Dr Spankle
  3. For some reason the Up/Down lights on the left are far easier to see than the Fore/Aft lights on the right. Can we increase the visibility so they're equally easy to see please? Cheers, Dr Spankle
  4. I've got all the documentation and frequencies, I'm asking what commands do I need to use to get my flight to actually expend weapons. Dr Spankle
  5. I don't understand mate - how can I know what frequency they're on? And I'm talking about using the Comm menu options to give them commands. Am I supposed to do it a different way? Sorry for being thick, Dr Spankle
  6. My wingmen don't seem to ever engage anything - air or ground. I've tried 'Engage Bandits', 'Engage Air Defences', 'Engage Mission and Rejoin' ... you name it. I never receive a response and they certainly don't ever do anything except follow me around the sky. What am I doing wrong? Dr Spankle
  7. I sometimes get this too. If I swap SOI away from TGP then back again it works again. No idea what causes it, it seems to only happen randomly. Dr Spankle
  8. Can we set the height above which trails form to something more realistic please? As an average I'd say 28000 and above is where you're most likely to find them, and only in a particular band of altitude, for example 29-35000, Either side of the band where persistent trails form there is often a thousand feet or so where non-persistent contrails are present too - it would be cool to see this. As a tactical aside, does the presence of trails from our aircraft increase the AI's ability to detect us at all? I've heard 'Tally' called for real at 40 miles as the target was in the cons. Dr Spankle
  9. This. DTED comes in three levels of accuracy to us commoners: Level 0 has a post spacing of approximately 900 meters. Level 1 has a post spacing of approximately 90 meters. Level 2 has a post spacing of approximately 30 meters. These are the widely available models - there are more accurate ones in existence which are obviously military spec. Dr Spankle
  10. Hellfires are not more precise than Mavericks, nor do they offer less collateral damage - in fact the REDs, (Risk Estimate Distances) used to calculate CD are actually very similar. The Hellfire is lighter as it was designed primarily for rotary carriage, the Maverick for fixed wing. The accuracy of the Hellfire or the Maverick when lased is entirely dependent on the accuracy of the lasing, and is unlikely ever to be sufficiently so to strike anything smaller than a vehicle. Dr Spankle
  11. 10 Fig MGRS is accurate to 1m - if it can be used to drop a Danger Close weapon it's accurate enough for anything else. Dr Spankle
  12. Unfortunately I can't seem to set the RDR Cursor on the TM Viper TQS to be a button rather than an axis. Has anyone found a way of doing this? Alternatively, has anyone from ED acknowledged this change in behaviour since the last update? Edit: As I write this Big Newy's response landed - thanks guys I'll leave it in your capable hands ... Dr Spankle
  13. My RDR Cursor axis controller on the Viper TQS works fine for the TGP, but for some reason the slewing on the Wpn Page for the Maverick is hyper-sensitive and very tricky to use. I saw something mentioned about somewhere but now can't find it. Is there a fix? Dr Spankle
  14. I've also had this, along with the TGP cursor disappearing randomly to somewhere in the sky for no reason. It appears over the tgt as it should but then any attempt to slew it jumps it into the sky. The only way out of this is to CZ, go back a steer point, come back to the next steer point and start slewing again. If you just CZ to replace the cursor over the tgt area and attempt to slew it jumps into the sky again. I only play MP so this is the only place I've seen it. Dr Spankle
