The VSN mod cockpit, while improved recently, still has some scale and dimension challenges. A new version is being worked on and should alleviate some of the woes, especially in VR. Just taking time, as all things do!

I read somewhere that 100% of their art team was down for a significant period of time

It is starting to become a bit of a pattern where when the confidence is high, an estimate (not a promise, an estimate) is provided, and then passed. The problem is that because we are all passionate, we set high hopes that those estimates are accurate, and then are disappointed when they are not. I remind myself that from the start, Cobra has said that the way we know the F-4E is close, is when we start seeing videos and system deep dives on the module. Despite some appearances in trailers and some mentions of what they are still working away at, we have not yet seen that, so we are not close. It makes sense - they are working hard every day (and from the discord messages, well into the night as well) to reach the milestones and release the product - so there isn't much time for marketing - they're still making! I don't envy the position they are in, or any module developer for that matter - if you give people early access and show the thing off in videos too early, people get frustrated (a la Razbam F-15E). It feels like if you show nothing, you're not on the radar of the general sim crowd and therefore get less heat from the community. That's just my 2 cents. At the end of the day, we're all passionate about this aircraft, about this community and this sim. We are also a tough bunch to please sometimes, being so niche. There really is only one shot at a first impression, and HB team taking their time to get it right is the right call. I am sure at a certain point there will be a line that is crossed that says "it will cost more to keep working on this unreleased than it would released" and that's when we'll see the pre-order. Whether that line is by the end of this year, or early next year, or summer next year, we don't know. At the end of the day we're all human beings, it will come, and everything is going to be ok.

Best place to find F-4E cockpit blueprints?

@Bucic @Biggus Thank you both, looks like we will just need to wait a little while longer! @IronMike no chance we can bribe you for early access to the dimensional cockpit scans? I promise we won't tell @Cobra847 -
Hi Folks, In anticipation of the upcoming F-4E release, I am trying to get a jump start on the cockpit dimensions. Does anyone know of a good source for F-4E cockpit blueprints with seat placement, eye line, recline angle, etc? (I know there is the Diesel thread with the measuring tape which is a fantastic resource, as well as the scanned ref coming from Heatblur - just want to get a jump start with the planning) Thanks!

Absolutely loving the bug fixes recently, huge kudos to the team for addressing the longstanding bugs. The F-5E module is very popular and loved by the community. I am wondering if there is anything to share on the art update that was mentioned last year. The most recent actual information we have was from Wags, in this comment on the discord: Thank you!

F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls
_BringTheReign_ replied to Bucic's topic in Home Cockpits
That's really good time, mine are usually 8-9 hours Yes, however I have had a lot of issues with the knurling when it prints sideways - it comes out looking like a very frizzy topographical map because the knurls end on an infinite point that the slicer tries to justify into a segmented set of layers. But that might just be my slicer and my printer. Will include halves for both in the next update at the end of the summer! -

Hey there! I don't believe that many supports are necessary - the only mandatory supports are the ones under the handrest. The rest should be fully printable without any supports whatsoever. I do usually put two under the trigger extrusions like so, but they are not strictly necessary for a functional print: null -
Someone recently said that art exists to evoke an emotional response - Heatblur does that consistently, literally felt a tear in my eye looking at those cockpit close ups! The modelling, the texture work, the feeling of a living working piece of machinery - just wow, wow wow. And that's just a 2D image! What's going to happen when we start seeing videos? Am I too far gone? Incredible!

This is excellent. Your videos are very digestible and provide an excellent background in advance of module release. Thank you for doing this! -

3-D Printable Mirage F-1 Stick (Coming Soon)
_BringTheReign_ replied to _BringTheReign_'s topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Very similar, but that model is not intended to be used as a game controller, whereas the one I am working on will be! I also used a lot of ortho images from the modelviewer so my stick will be very dimensionally accurate when compared with the stick you see in DCS -

Thank you so much for your kind words good sir! -
The ability to speak to Jester without 3rd party software would be incredible - the complicated setup on voiceattack and other addons tends to shy some folks away, so this would be very cool! Understood on the no promises thing of course.

As far as we know, HB didn't intend to reveal the Phantom until release - their hand was forced after certain folks with inside info repeatedly and unprofessionally hinted in public channels that the project had been picked up again by a 3rd party dev. That's just my point of view as an independent neutral observer. I wrote a few notes about this from my pov in this discord thread
